Best present ever wouldn’t be without, although beware of additional charges if you want all unlimited music. Love this the best present iv’e had in a long time, shes informative, i use her reminder ability quite often and use her for news briefs and the radio most. Be aware though for her to play songs that you may wish to request you do have to sign up for amazon prime at £7. 99 and even then if you want to play unlimited music you have to sign up for an additional package at £3. I expected the initial cost of amazon prime but do feel its a bit stingy to then have to pay the extra £3. Although disappointed at amazons additional charging policies with the product i think shes amazing.
Nice product, but don’t use it that often. . We don’t use it as much as we had hoped. We only listen to certain music. It comes on every now and again and says weird things without being asked. Also it has come on and started playing a music channel without being prompted.

A lot to write about this item it’s definitely useful and cool. There is a lot to write about this item it’s definitely useful and cool. The novelty will wear off but it’s a fantastic alarm clock for me and provides me with daily news when i’m doing other stuff. Really love this item and would consider purchasing the smaller addons in the future. The biggest thing i have to recommend is, it’s super well supported, it’s consistently updated and worked upon. You can tell the people who develope this care about it and it is really what makes the difference between an average product and an exceptional one. The developers care about it.
It is very witty, and plays nearly every track i ask for. I even ask it what the weather will be before i hang out my washing. Set alarms for when i need them. Play an amazing amount ofand there’s loads more. . And to be able to use it anywhere through your phone wowgreat technology.
Amazon Echo, Black (previous generation) : She’s a bit stupid hahame: “alexa, turn the lights on”alexa: “i couldn’t find kangaroo south on your shopping list”she can do sums with the maths app but can’t work out percentages. . Turning the lights off (when she hears you) is good though.
The idea is very cute but the delivery still trails behind the concept. Technology should have been able to make this piece of kit, teach, enlighten, educate and entertain. If you ask a question regarding history, geography, science, politics or whatever you need to be informed on, it lacks knowledge and it only gives us a short answer. Computer ai should by now be able to create something with real juice. Just for the weather, shopping lists and simple things, it can be quite amusing, but this kind of stuff should be able to go much further then it does. If you ask a question about something important, it should be able to dig deep into dictionaries and encyclopedias in order to give an in depth answer that could inform thoroughly, not just a one second reply which says very little and forces people to go and ask another two, three, four and more question in order to make sense of it. Like i said, technology should have got there by now.
A (very good) work in progress. So, after weeks of deliberation i finally succumbed to the black friday temptation of ordering myself my new ai friend “alexa” (in the form of an amazon echo), as well as two smaller amazon echo dots to place around the house in strategic locations. I admit that i have only had the amazon echo for a weekend, but i just cannot understand the amount of 1 star reviews (and the ludicrously high amount of people finding those reviews useful?). If i was a cynical person i’d suggest that there might even be some sort of industrial sabotage going on here. Is it just coincidence that all of these bad reviews (and huge amount of helpful votes) are hitting the echo just before google release their own version in time for christmas?so i’ve decided to give as honest and open a review as possible in order to highlight the pluses and (currently very few) minuses that i’ve experienced. I’ll add to the review as time goes on, as i have no doubt there will be some exciting developments in the coming months. For once amazon have used exactly the right sized box which is a pleasant surprise – in this instance for 1 x amazon echo and 2 x amazon echo dots. Bought for £119 and £39 each respectively.
Free prime music with device is good, if you already pay for prime-an insult to be asked to upgrage to amazon music. Web search is still in its infancy, is poor as a result. What’s good is that upon purchasing this device you get free access to prime music, which has a good selection of songs, although quite often your requested song is played as a sample of what you could have if you paid for amazon music. What’s not good is that if you already pay for prime it is a slap in the face to be asked to pay for a better service. It makes sense if you are using the free prime but what about people already paying for prime, are we subsidising the free users?.
The more i use it, the more i like it. Plays my music and volume up/ down using voice control ( sounds as loud as my logik soundbar), lights my lamp, gives weather info, converts units, adds items to my anylist shopping list on my iphone, etc, etc.
Came to the conclusion that life without this little beuty was no where near so much fun. It makes the task of turning lights and appliances on and off so much easier and almost fun. Has a sense of strange humour and seams to know exactly what music we like at any time of day.
I receive my local radio better than national radio. It is ok, i receive my local radio better than national radio. Friend that has one said you can get all different stations, but forgot to tell me that i have to set up separately for them. She also said i could listen to lots of different music, but didn’t say i had to pay monthly for it. I am in a bungalow and find i can get rid of all the other radios and just have alexa.
A radio lover, i was sceptical on its ability to tune in to the various stations i listen to. Its also useful for getting news summary whenever you want it. Mine is linked to spotify, and is good fun asking alexa for a particular song or artist. However, if you have poor wifi connection then this product is not for you. All in all a good little device well worth the lower price amazon have now pitched it at.
This device is a total revelation and allows my wife. This device is a total revelation and allows my wife to access the radio stations and music that she loves. She can no longer figure out the normal technology but by talking to alexa it has restored her ability to listen to her favourites.
