Superb turrntable, sound is great| i am playing back through a sansui r7 amplifier which although 30 years old still sounds great.
Astonishingly good performance for the price. I have been umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting back into vinyl for a while – i love my tech, and buy hi-res downloads from qobuz, so would i really ever go all retro and start using a record player?. After all, i am a child of the cd generation – i remember boasting of the benefits of cds to my unimpressed parents – but then, who among us knew at the time that we were getting a raw deal in terms of actual sound quality?.It’s easy to say that we must have known it was all compressed down, but back then we played in the roads, we watched knight rider, the future was ours, and these little silver discs were new and exciting and futuristic so the must be betterthe wife was dismissive (she’s a fair woman, she knows me well) – a waste of money/time/effort, what about the sound system, etc etc. Good points all, but the stubborn bit of me wanted to go back to the purer, richer sound of vinyl records – but i compromised and got an entry level audio technica to see if my infatuation was simply that. I expected little more from the budget turntable than to be able to play records and give me a clue as to whether i wanted the hassle of changing lps again, but the sound quality is superb – it is connected to a sony str-dn1050 via the included audio cables, no pre-amp required, and the bass is deep, rich and mellow, the vocals are improved over cd quality, and i’m noticing more nuance on even well-known albums. Playing tron legacy there is a definite sparkle to the sound, with a weighty bass and it all sounds, well, more immediate. I also love the fact it is all automatic, has an in-built phono stage, and, aside from fitting the platter, there is nothing you have to do manually to set it up – again, ticking all the boxes for a first player. Or getting-nack-into-vinyl player.
Stylus isn’t too heavy like some of players in this price range – so. Neat little compact player this, stylus isn’t too heavy like some of players in this price range – so it doesn’t gouge my treasured vinyl. Reviews from purchasers :
- Astonishingly good performance for the price
- Very good value for money & my son was so impressed
- Great entry level turntable
I was looking for something easy to use. For my first turntable, i was looking for something easy to use, cheap but also with quality. After read some reviews, i have decided to buy this audio-technica. It is simply awesome, it has a nice sound, even with my average 5. 1 surround system, and i love the awesome design. It is very easy to use, because it’s fully automatic, you just need to put the vinyl and press start.
Sound is crisp and i did not have any issues so far.
Does a great job for the price. For the price it definitely gets the job done well, i was impressed with the aluminium platter and overall feel of the turntable. One modification i made for older scratched up records was put a small weight on the end of the tone arm so it wouldn’t skip as much.
Great to hear the quality of my old vinyl collection again, vocals are so much clearer.
I found set up more tricky than most buyers, but fiddling about with leads and jack plugs is not my scene. Much better tone than a cheaper turntable i had and the small speakers surprisingly powerful. I would have liked a bass boost and longer cables in order to separate the speakers more, but for the price it’s good and looks quite stylish.
We’re very happy with this turntable. This was a christmas gift for my boyfriend. I was afraid, because he’s very picky with this things, but he loved it.We’re very happy with this turntable.
He seems very happy with it. He seems very happy with it.
Great turntable speakers a bit small and tinny but nothing a better set hasnt sorted out.
