Bose ® 301 Direct/Reflecting Speaker System – : Absolutely amazing, full hugs sound from such small speakers

Bought these to replace old warfdale’s, must say what a difference these small speakers make.

Bought these speakers after a listening to a friend’s lifestyle system finding the concept of reflected sound very interesting,a lot different from what most speaker makers focus on. I have dabbled with reflective sound before coming across bose,in the past one of the cars i drove a mazda coupe had speakers just set into the dash under the windscreen and the effect it had on the music was amazing not sure if the midrange tweeter units was the reason but the reflective effect of the sound reflecting to my ears must have been a factor so my mind was very open to the bose concepts. Styling is very different from conventional speakers and with covers on the front they look very slick, placed on a pair of black atcama stands they look very nice for sure. Two angled tweeters one front and one on the rear take care of high notes ,bass is served by eight inch driver to the front and reflex ports to the rear. Sound is very open and quite detailed provided you place in good location to get the best of their reflection qualities they can really fill your space with rich music and lots of detail ,bass is quite powerful from 301s although the depth may not be enough for the size of these speakers they create a huge soundstage they are a lot of fun to listen to sounding a little like there bigger brother the 901s all in found these speakers do the job very well. In hindsight recent listens have to adjust my view on the bass which is very deep and substantial for speakers this size. Main thing is to listen for yourself before you buy.

Awesome sound quality from these speakers. Awesome sound quality from these speakers. Looking forward to installing them as they should be later in the week when the brackets have arrived. These will add to my existing bose speakers and acoustimass system and will just fill the room with sound. Can’t wait until it’s all up and running.

Wow they are loud and felt the walls vibrating. (neighbours had gone out) you do need a good amp though. My prime purpose to play these through my mac into an amp. Using a lepy lp-20244a+ amp. But will buy a better more sturdy amp. Doesn’t come with cables and has little rubber feet included.

Opened the box and was a little disappointed in the quality / materials used, seemed a bit cheap for the price bracket – including thin laminate covering (hollow feel), plastic surround is ok but nothing special, cheap spring speaker connectors and basic paper speaker cones (tuned up). What hi fi / would probably not be impressed with this. . They do look good on stands though. However, like some other bose products, looks can be deceiving. When set up on stands, they sound surprisingly good in my opinion and produce a different / open sound. Vocals – with two tweeters – positioned front and rear are impressive and bass is quite balanced (experiment with positioning) midrange is ok. I’m using a hybrid valve amp and it seems to work well in a medium size room. The reason i bought these speakers is that they have a wide stereo image that’s room filling and easy listening. They are not high end, but are different in looks and sound to other budget speakers.

Absolutely amazing, full hugs sound from such small speakers. Absolutely amazing, full hugs sound from such small speakers, people ask me where i’m hiding the bass bins, but i have none, i use them in my town centre bar, and they give a sound of a professional club sound system. They are also very efficient and a 100w of power to each speaker sounds more like 500w, they are small but shue pack a punch.

One of the best speakers ever made. Do not listen to bose bashers. Anyone that bashes the bose 301 has probably not listened to them. The sound stage is huge, spatial sound realism, deep bass, clean highs and uniform sound everywhere. I use the yamaha rn-500 to drive the 301 speakers. No need for additional sub unless you are bass crazy. Just 2 speakers envelope you like surround sound. It will amaze you how this size of speakers produce huge sound stage. I personally recommend them of others out there. Get the placement right you will never go back or regret it.
