Bowers & Wilkins T7 Portable tooth Speaker – A beautiful, powerful Bluetooth speaker

Lacks base with some music but otherwise ridiculously good. Amazing clarity of sound, amazing battery and good stable connectivity via bluetooth.

Wonderful – but well worth installing the latest firmware ( very quick and easy install ). Happy to second those who’ve been praising this to the skies – the more i listen the better it sounds – great detail throughout the dynamic range – amazing quality even with the (considerable) volume turned up, yet still perfectly clear and detailed with low volume. I have fairly eclectic taste in music and the unit is coping well with everything. Accoustic and vocals are particularly good. One minor caveat – straight out of the box it sounded a little flat – but it was simplicity itself to register and download/install the latest firmware. Just plug in the speaker with usb and run the utility – takes less than 10 seconds. . Sublime sound, better by far than my bose soundlink mini ii – more detail and accurate throughout the range with rich but not overheavy base ( the soundlink is pretty good but can be a bit base-heavy/boomy at times ).

Ok but left slightly disappointeduntil upgraded. I was disappointed until i upgraded the software. Now the t7 sounds great since b&w must have changed the equaliser settings considerably. I had a very old build on my unit and should have checked it sooner. It’s cleared up my upper mid range / treble issues. Original review follows so if you experience similar issues, use the b&w app on the t7 support page and upgrade. Also allow a lot of hours for the speaker to burn inother excellent reviews combined with b&ws over enthusiastic marketing to make me purchase the t7. I have many other b&w products and have been happy with most of them. The mm1 mini-speakers are outstanding, and i love my a7 so i was hoping b&w could once again defy the confines of small physical size and come up with something outstanding. The good points include battery life which is exceptional, and the class d amplifiers are efficient and low in distortion and easily capable of delivering a room filling sound. • Structural stiffening provided by the Micro Matrix technology and the high-output bass radiators ensure T7 Wireless provides real Hi-Fi sound in a compact package.

I’ve had this speaker for 24 hours and i have to say i am quite simply knocked out by it. I’m not an audiophile but i am a serious music lover and guitar player, so i like to think that my ears have some ‘knowledge’ of sound reproduction good and bad. The t7 is most definitely good. I listen to all types of music and so far i have run reggae, jazz, classical, techno, pop, rock etc etc through this baby – via both bluetooth from my sony z3 phone and via direct input from my ipod classic – and it is a truly rich and gorgeous sound from all genres and both devices. So much that i have to disagree with one of the other reviewers here who states that this speaker is not for rock music etc. It sustains all musical genres. I have no vested interest in b&w so would be happy to state flaws if i could find them but i cannot. Highly recommended if you love your music.

I had the bose soundlink ans mini soundlink before but this one is more impressive.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Great speaker for audio and build quality and immensely simple to use
  • Old world quality speaker with modern technology!
  • Great sounding speaker with great battery life

Top quality hi-fi on your table. It even makes a £14 cd player sound expensive.

A beautiful, powerful bluetooth speaker. T7==the short review:it’s a truly beautiful looking bluetooth speaker which has an amazing performance. Good sound, long battery, and one of the most beautiful speaker you can lay your hands on. Pros=====amazing designawesome sound qualitylong-lasting batterycons=====it’s an expensive piece of kit. No micro usb chargingdesign=======i think this is one of those speakers that you need to see in real life. It looks amazing in the photos but looks better in the flesh. It reminds me of a futuristic beehive which at its heart is a beating engine of honey bees. The grille looks mesmerising. The t7 speaker looks like a bowers & wilkins product and although it’s a standard rectangular wireless speaker design, there’s real premium look and feel to it. The design does set it apart from the competition.

It is a piece of ‘audio genius’ and i cannot recommend it highly enough. This speaker is absolutely mesmerising. It is a piece of ‘audio genius’ and i cannot recommend it highly enough. The sound is unbelievable clear and you can hear the bass, mid and treble frequencies sublimely balanced. It can handle any type of music and i love just closing my eyes and listening to the blanket of sound that is produced by this beautifully engineered piece of audio equipment. You will be overwhelmed with the sound quality such a small piece of audio equipment produces. Bedfordshire – 41 years old.

Was still portable and had great sound. It was hearing my friends bose sound. Been using it for a couple of weeks (16/0715) now and have no complaints. Having been using sennheiser hd558 for home use and hd25-1 ii for away from home for around three years. Wanted something for times when headphones wouldn’t be practice, was still portable and had great sound. It was hearing my friends bose sound link mini that made me realise how good portable speakers had become. Already knew about b&w from my first venture in to the audiophile world before settling on my hd558 headphones. Price played a part in my decision making then having initial interest between hd558 and hd598. B&w were long out of the running due to cost plus had no previous experience of b&w compared to having many years of ownership of sennhierser in ear headphones. Was also worried the b&w may have been a little more of style over substance (having known bose have a bad rep on audiophile sites i’d been looking at as good but over priced but really well marketed and branding).

If you love your sound, you must buy this. . I was looking for a wireless option as apple keep changing the shape of the ports and did a whole ton of research on bluetooth options. The reviews of this product on other sites have been consistently high and as i own a great pair of b+w headphones, i was keen to own more of their products. You never know what the sound is going to be like by reading a review. I love music and sound quality is very important to me. I suggest the following – go to a store that has one of these set up and listen to it. I went to a bhs in leicester that had one set up that you could attach your device to, so i linked up my iphone. The thing i most concerned about was how loud the speaker would be. I was in a busy pre-christmas department store and was blown away by the sound both in volume and quality.

Very good sound quality, the bluetooth can be dodgy but i blame my mac for that there bluetooth can be dodgy sometimes it is best to switch off wi-fi on the mac before connecting to the bluetooth then switch the wi-fi back on.

Build – the build quality on this device is great. I have read some reviews that state the paint has started peeling off the grill on some devices which hasn’t happened to me thus far, but could certainly occur if the device is scrapped against something hard. The speaker itself is fairly big so don’t expect it to fit in your pocket, but perfectly small enough to fit in a rucksack. A slight problem i have is the device does not use micro usb (as found on most android phones) for charging meaning that you will have to carry the supplied adapter with you when it needs charging. Sound – i’ve found the sound to be great for what it is. It will by no means compete against your hifi speakers / surround sound systems / audiophile headphones, but that’s not what it was built for. For those who love bass, you may be a little disappointed as the bass is not weighty on this device. Manual – the manual that accompanies the product is very poor, it will give you the basic set-up information to get you up and running but go grab the full manual from the bower & wilkins website for a better understanding of the features offered.

  1. Old world quality speaker with modern technology. Beautiful sound from a well made speaker. Listen to it daily for many hours and it has released unknown depths from my cd and download/streaming collection. All i could want and more and it’s so compact and portable.

  2. Great speaker for audio and build quality and immensely simple to use. I have the bower and wilkins a7, the largest, most expensive and most powerful of their wireless speakers, but i much prefer the t7 because it’s simply easier to use. In my experience, bluetooth is a better technology for wireless speakers than the a7’s apple airplay. The t7 unit connects immediately. Set-up is a matter of pressing a few buttons on the unit and then your phone or computer and, as you’d expect, the sound and build quality is very impressive. It’s easy to transport, battery life seems very good (said to be 17 hours) and looks robust enough to be placed anywhere. I’ve purchased it for the garden, for my workout space and for trips to beaches and such. I intend to get a lot of use out of the t7, which is why i’m considering selling the a7. As amazing at the a7 is, the practically of the t7 means i’ll use it more. Whilst the unit does have a thick rubber surround to help prevent damage, i would still recommend buying the matching case for £20 when storing or travelling.

This is a fantastic speaker. The bluetooth connection is simple to use and reliable. Sound is comparable to my bose speakers. It is unusual looking and i really like the styling. The battery life is great and exceeds the advertised. It is however relatively heavy so i wouldn’t want to carry it huge distances. I highly recommended if your budget allows.

Fantastic; changed the experience of listening to music and audiobooks. This is a really beautiful speaker both in terms of its aesthetics and its performance. I haven’t had a wireless speaker before so wasn’t sure what to expect and was blown away by the sound quality. I’m not an audiophile but i love music and i listen to a lot of audiobooks. This speaker copes brilliantly with both, providing rich, detailed sound which has has really made a significant difference to listening to audiobooks through the iphone speakers turned up all the way. I usually use this speaker whilst i do the housework and because it’s portable i can easily move it about with me. It’s not bulky and it’s beautiful gold finish and honeycomb accents fit in nicely with our room decor so i can leave it out even when not using it. This is a very expensive piece of kit but it is worth every penny.

3 1/2 stars really – it sounds great (with some caveats) but not enough to justify the premium price in a competitive market. The t7 is about the size of a thick hardback novel or, to compare with other portable bluetooth speakers, almost exactly the same size and weight as the creative soundblaster roar. It’s also well over twice the price of the roar, which features the added ability to take calls and play from an inserted micro sd card. I like the roar a lot, so the t7 has to sound much better to justify its price. I am a fan of bowers & wilkins products but some are better than others. One thing they all have in common is the need to run them in for a period of time before they sound their best. Straight out of the box they sound brittle, a little harsh, and without much bass. Fortunately after just a couple of hours the harshness toned down and they sounded better albeit without much bass at first. The bass sounds mainly emerge from the rear so i found that placing it near a wall helped considerably and on a bookshelf was best of all. In this position the sound was nicely balanced and integrated.

      1. Simple retro design that’s beautiful to look at with great sound too. . This portable speaker is brilliant. The simple design and gold/black colouring are really beautiful and it has a retro feel to it. The buttons blend in beautifully to the device itself, giving a lovely minimalist look. The charger comes with various plug fittings (see photo), which is always a bonus. It comes with a helpful little instruction booklet and was pretty quick and easy to pair with my phone. I can turn the volume up a lot without compromising on sound quality. My only small qualm is that there’s a very slight delay between pressing play/pause and it actually playing/pausing. However it doesn’t detract from the quality of the device overall.

From nas to bon iver, from zero 7 to the rolling stones, this little speaker delivers excellent sound, great longevity on battery life and looks fantastic to boot. An expensive piece of audio equipment given some of the cheaper options out there, but worth the extra dollar to buy such premium, aesthetically and aurally pleasing kit, if you have it.

      1. I’ve had a few bluetooth speakers including the bose soundlink mini and the b&o play a2 but nothing compares to this, the sound is absolutely amazing and i would without hesitation recommend to any music lovers like myself.

I bought mine from amazon warehouse deals as ‘very good’ condition. On receipt it was indeed unmarked and looked pristine. I charged it up and the sound was really good – but somehow lacking. But i had my new toy and i was really trying to like it. Later that evening i played queen bohemian rhapsody and suddenly it all became clear that it was only playing one of the stereo tracks – the other ‘speaker’ was just missing. Tried upgrading firmware, using aux in lead, another ipod but basically it was faulty. So if you get one of these speakers and it works it’s probably very good, but i notice on some forums their is a question mark over variability in build which confirmed my experience – this should have been picked up in testing.

      1. Impressive sound from such a small unit but only if you take time and consider where you’re putting it. I’ve heard a few of these bluetooth speakers including the bose offerings, jbl and some really small waterproof unit a friend has. They’re all more or less impressive in terms of the dynamics you can get from such diminutive sized units (and speakers) however they’ve never really blown me away. Units that sounded “good” would have overwhelming, boomy bass and no mids (i’m looking at you bose, not everyone is middle aged and going deaf). I’m soon to be shipped off abroad with work for a few months and for that length of time i need my music with me, i also spend about 1/4 of the year out of the country and living in hotels already so i decided to treat myself. My requirements were simple; whatever it was had to be small and sound reasonably good. This little b&w t7 is impressive, it’s not perfect but obviously its size is going to require some compromises; studio reference quality it is not. But it sounds good and well balanced in its own right. No farting, over the top bass and mids and highs right where they should be. To me the response sounds flat enough, not perfect but what you get sounds natural and even.

    1. Long lasting and clear sound. Whilst not as bottom heavy as most of the t7’s rivals, this unit delivers a clear and punchy sound. The sound appears to improve slightly when the speakers are ‘worn-in’it is small and relatively light which makes it ideal for traveling. I took mine to a holiday cottage at the bank holiday weekend. Cranked it up and the battery lasted the entire break and is still working. It has a long lifemy only criticism and the reason i have dropped a star, is that the buttons on the top of the unit are hard to figure out without a decent light source. Yes, it is rather pricey but the sound is loud enough and shear quality.
