Great looking product with awesome sound quality. I have given the canton dm 9 soundbar a 5 star rating as not only does the dm 9 look slick , the sound quality is just phenomenal . The setup was very easy via optical input so done and ready in a matter of minutes and very easily controllable with the tv’s remoteit wasn’t difficult to convince my wife either as she loved the fact it was slim and non-intrusive like some other speakers. Well worth spending money on a product that not only performs amazingly but looks good too .
I first brought myself a dm50, having experienced the amazing quality from this unit i decided to by the dm9 for the extension. The sound quality on the dm9 is brilliant. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who wants to enhance their tv sound. Its easy to install and so quick to set up.
I’ve been looking for a quality soundbar for a while and i came across this one – canton dm 9. The sound is sharp and crisp as you would expect from canton. The bass could be lower but the setting goes down to +6db / –6db for bass and treble which is reasonable in most cases. The sound bar and the remote control are study and have a solid quality feel. The remote was rather basic but functional. I used the digital optical tv cable to connect to my tv which was included – a bonus. However i was also able to connect from other devices (ipad, iphone) via bluetooth – through the usual pairing routine. There’s also the usual coaxial and rca cables connectivity. Included in the box are 2 screws (and holes template) to wall mount/hang the soundbar. Here are the specifications for the Canton Flat Wall Mounted TV Soundbar DM 9:

to make sure this fits.
- Position on the wall below a TV
- Input connections include coax digital, optical digital and RCA analogue
- aptX Bluetooth for wireless music playback
- Digital and analogue inputs
- Can be controlled with the TV’s remote control
Awsome audio in your living room. The dm 9 is an amazing bit of kit. It is slim at just 10 cm high and 6 cm deep so it doesn’t dominate your living room like some other soundbars can. And because of its slim profile, it doesn’t look out of place if you have a really flat screen close to the wall. The sound it produces is absolutely awsome. With a massive 200 watt output, virtual surround technology and high quality loudspeaker components it performs just as well in a home cinema or music set up. After doing my research for many months, i finally went for the dm9. As soon as i took it out of the box, i knew i had made the right decision. The feel of it, the weight, the sleek lines and black semi-gloss finish, not to mention the actual performanceinstallation was simple as it only needed one signal cable to link to my flat screen tv. You simply just can’t go wrong with the canton dm9, and i would recommend it to anyone.
Having previously had a dm70 i knew what to expect from canton. The product is a high quality product with well thought out features and only took a total of 5 minutes to set up. Compared to the older unit i had previously this unit has the added feature of being able to use an optical cable so the sound was a much higher quality. After playing with the settings a bit and getting the right balance of bass and treble the sound was cinema quality. The dm9 also has bluetooth connectivity so i can now pair my phone and listen to my music meaning no need for my old fashioned sound system anymore. I much prefer having the extra space and could easily justify the price as it works as a good alternative to surround sound and also sound system replacement. It is surprisingly thin and i plan to hang it on the wall to save even more space and keeps everything neat looking.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Excellent Sound Quality In A Slim Package.
- Fantastic soundbar. Quality in every Inch.
- Perfect, it works for me
Fantastic value for a great sounding soundbar. Omg, the canton dm9 is amazingnot only is the sound quality perfect and a neat addition to our home cinema system, it’s so easy to set up via a remote. It only took my husband less than 2 minutes to get it working, once he had connected it to the back of our tv via optical input, so no manual requireddefinitely worth spending your money on something very impressive and of great quality.
Being of a certain age i like to see where my sound is coming from but my mind has been changed by this product. Deseret with awesome sound this is now a bar i would strongly recommend. . And it does not serve any booze. More than happy and perfect to add the atmosphere need to movies, footsie nights and the occasional trip down music video memory lane.
My samsung tv already has front surround speakers built in so i was sceptical about buying this but i managed to borrow and use one and am so glad i did. It beats the samsung sound by a long country mile. I can also play my iphone tunes on this by connecting via bluetooth.Looking forward to watching my favourite movies again for the hundredth time.
I truly cant be bothered writing reviews normally on any format /website, however i cant let anyone make the mistake of overlooking this bar or it losing out to sonos / bose/ etc. Its a five star because i love it. The advise is 18-20hours to break in … slightly less if i’m to be honest to hear the quality- needs a little longer on the mid range – but this is proving to be developing nicely. The dm9 has been sat on little rubber buds (provided) in front of an elevated 40′ panasonic – they sync on size as the bar is also 40′ – i’m about 2. 5m 3m away on the couch for most listening. The highs are wonderful -crisp and cutting- built in bass is thunderous (best results 75 and above its doesn’t let it down at lower volumes, but really comes alive at 77 for me the sweet spot when listening to music) – with the surround it doesn’t quite provide enveloping surround but this isn’t a multi unit bar. The experience with films is wonderful – it does make a difference and you exceed the poor reproduction from the tv speakers. You have bass and treble options – bluetooth is a quick sync and doesn’t interrupt if new devices picked up. Personal preferences – standard mode for music creates tight symbols and very good vocal – acoustic is fantastic – kraftwerk and boards of canada have proved the bass is well up to scratch and again tight and effortless – its a professional audiophile output.
Wonderfully balanced sound. . I’ve had my dm 9 for a week now and it has been run in for the 15-20 hours recommended by canton. The sound ‘out of the box’ was great, but after about 6 hours i had to turn the bass setting down a bit as it deepend up and male voices sounded a bit too booming on the +4 setting i’d had it on. Now the sound quality is fantastic, only limited by the stereo separation. It is really balanced – it’s not too bassy or too bright and the mid tones don’t overpower everything else – it’s spot on. I leave it on stereo mode as the surround mode can make vocals seem a bit lost – but it is a cool effect, you just have to choose when to use it. I have the sound-bar connected to my tv via the optical cable and music from my apple tv sounds excellent – real audiophile sound, not just excellent ‘for a soundbar’. I’ve set up the dm 9 to turn on and off with the tv and it’s worked seamlessly so far. It dosn’t do anything annoying, it’s neat and classy. Ok it’s not cheap but you are getting a 200watt digital amp and speakers in one device so you are getting a lot for your money and being connected to your tv it will be used a lot.
Lacking deep, quality bass. . For the price, i was expecting far more richer and bassier tones. Treble is very good with clarity and voice sync precision. However when playing music, the bass tones do not seem to reach as low as the tune intends them to be. Currently having to consider purchasing a separate subwoofer to capture the lower tones which is slightly disappointing, considering the canton dm9 is already expensive as it is.
Excellent sound quality in a slim package. . I was initially attracted to the canton dm 50 soundbase, but having read on amazon. De several user reports of unreliability, i decided to opt for the dm 9 soundbar. The dm 9 has a 2 year warranty. On unpacking, the dm 9 impresses with it’s appearance, and build quality. There are no hdmi inputs/outputs on the soundbar. Connection to a tv is by an optical cable which is provided with the unit. It should be noted that the power cable is terminated in a 2 pin european plug. The remote control is a very solidly built device. However, it should be noted that the remote’s power is supplied by a not so readily available cr 2032 lithium battery.
Fantastic, great sound, easy setup, easy to connect, love the quality remote control.
