Sony Bravia KDL50WF663 50 Inch Full HD HDR Smart TV – Great TV

I bought this tv for my mums christmas present, she was very happy.

Remote feels cheap, some buttons are quite small and no positive feedback, so you don’t know you’ve pressed them. Picture quality is great, reasonably easy to use, applications good but still no now tv app fir android. Note there are only 2x hdmi ports, missed when i purchased as i need 3x shame as its a good tv otherwise.

Very happy with all aspect of this television.

The kdl43wf663 was first released in october 2016 and unless this 2018 model has undergone any upgrades it has therefore been around for nearly two years so you can’t expect it to be bristling with the latest high-tech gadgetry. And while it generally feels as if it has been ‘built to a price’, it’s still pretty good and as this is my first (semi) smart tv it’s actually a lot more up-to-date than my other tv, a 10-year old 46′ panasonic plasma. This sony tv is surprisingly light at 8. 2kg so it’s very easy to carry around from room to room, something i found myself having to do actually because of network connection problems. I found that i had to set it up in the same room as the sky q box and then move it, a slight inconvenience but not a big deal. The remote control feels cheap but it has two unusual buttons on it: youtube and netflix. This is what makes this tv an advance on most decade-old models that were just televisions and nothing else. I’ve only really used the youtube app so far and it works fine, making this a sort of cross between a tv and a huge laptop. The other apps are bbc iplayer, demand5, uktv play, dw (die welt, i think), stv, vewd app store (so you can add additional apps), photo sharing plus, amazon prime video, itv, bbc news, yupp tv, meteo news, freeview play, photo frame mode, rakuten tv, all 4, bbc sport, arte, youtube kids, berliner philharmoniker and a browser. Picture quality is okay, no complaints, sound quality about average although i’m a bit spoilt in that department as our main tv is hooked up to a devialet soundbar so the sound is far better with that.

Very pleased with quick delivery. Set looked brand new when package was opened. Handy ability to catch-up on a program from the start half way through. Tedious to set up various smart apps. Such as iplayer, 5on demand you tube etc. Regarding durability- have only had the tv for 2 months, so unable to judge, but past sony equipment has never broken down before being discarder (12-15 years+).

Always had sony bravia tv’s and they have always impressed me with the overall quality and durability, a 36 inch one i bought 10 years ago is still working well in a spare bedroom. This latest addition was easy to set up and the picture quality is great. It also works well with our old sony sound bar so the sound is also great. Best of all this new 43 inch tv takes up less room than the old 40 inch due to the slim bezel. All in all i don’t think i could have bought better for the price i paid.

Very nice tv, it could do with that turns to the angle you want rather having to lift it.

The sony abravia kdl43wf663 43 inch full hd smart tv with freeview play in black is a very striking looking tv,the black wide screen is complemented by two silver legs at the front black at the back. I find the hd really striking particularly commercials for food it’s almost real and i find the sound so clear, you get a variety of freeview. Channels ,i seem to have a lot more channels than my previous freeview tv. As always when you update your technology things change ,i need to purchase some cables to watch my dvd player as this modem tv doesn’t have any scart fittings but that’s not a major issue, getting a friend shortly to connect the internet to the television. Great tv and deserves five stars frim this reviewer.

This tv is exactly as stated in the headline. It’s a perfectly serviceable 1080p high definition tv. Mine is wall mounted, so i can’t comment on the stand. There are a few niggles, particularly of you are more technically minded. Installation – i had it connected to an standard aerial and it found most of the standard digital channels on freeview they play perfectly well. I had an ethernet cable cable connecting it to a powerlan plug which connected to the internet and it upgraded perfectly – i haven’t connected it via wifi as i don’t need to. Audio – the built in speakers are fine for where/how i use it. My tv is in a room where i have lots of exercise equipment, so it’s used whilst i’m on and elliptical trainer/rowing machine/doing body weight exercises. . The quality if fine for that. You could improve it quite a bit by fitting a soundbar, but you would have to use either the headphone socket or an optical cable, as this tv doesn’t have bluetooth capability. Picture quality – it’s okay, not stunning but perfectly watchable. Hd channels look pretty good, sd channels are watchable.

I set up this tv next to my now-pushing-10-years-old-and-recently-gone-to-the-big-scrapheap-in-the-sky sharp aquos 46′. It was a non-led, non-smart tv (but cost significantly more than the bravia 43′ when i bought it in 2008) which was connected to a playstation 3 (my blu-ray & netflix machine) and a sky+ hd box. I’ve edited this review for brevity, but the essential points remain – i had a lot of trouble (about 3 hours) getting the sony bravia set up properly. However, while i was fiddling with it, i tried plugging in an external usb hard disk with some mp4 media on it, and that worked fine. I watched some digital/freeview sdtv with an expectedly poor, sd-quality picture, and that worked fine too. I watched some sky and found the picture very over-saturated, and we’ll get back to that later as second, severe flaw in this tv. On first impressions, the bravia is ridiculously light (the box says 12kg, so the tv is probably about 11kg). The old aquos weighed a ton while i was easily able to lift the bravia inside its box and carry it upstairs (while wearing my backpack from work at the same time. Physical setup is a breeze as a result – 4 philips screws affix two feet, plug in the power and any source boxes, and you’re done.

Fantastic item, great value for money.

Very clever machine, finding new functions all the time.

Sony bravia has been my first choice for many years and this does not disappoint. Great sound, vision and built in extras. Here are the specifications for the Sony Bravia KDL50WF663 50 Inch Full HD HDR Smart TV:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • HDR – Brilliant highlights, beautiful textures – HDR preserves the detail in the brightest and darkest scenes found in PS4 games and Netflix titles, for a more dynamic and realistic picture.
  • X-Reality PRO upscaling engine – Rediscover every detail – X-Reality PRO up-scales and refines the pixels on screen for reduced noise and enhanced clarity
  • Powerful surround sound thanks to S-Force front surround and bass reflex unit
  • Simple connectivity: one easy HDMI connection to TV and instant music listening from your mobile device via Bluetooth or USB

Very pleased with product good value.

Immense and rather splendid. You can sit back and just be overwhelmed by the sheer wonder of this tv. Because of its epic size you may find it tricky to source a stand or tv unit to hold it. This ain’t no tv for shy retiring folk. But watching a movie, an epic movie like a star wars or anything with large battle scenes then the sheer scale brings a tear to the eye. The sound and picture quality are fantastic. Tricky to manhandle this behemoth. Everything hooked up though. If you buy this bad boy then prepare to be awed by its utter presence.

This 43′ sony is to replace a 32′ sony so i can compare notes. I did some research and for normal tv viewing 1080 seems to be better than 4k as upscaling from sd to 4k isn’t that clever apparently. There are a few annoying features about this 2018 model i don’t like. It isn’t android based so why the lag in many of the remote features. The epg isn’t as instant as the 32′ was with a few seconds delay after pressing the green next page button. Also teletext is slower, noticeably populating one line at a time. The most glaring and annoying change is the epg which no longer has the top information panel. Yes you see more channels but you need to exit the list display to see each programs details. They’ve also removed the very useful schedule viewing feature that i used that a lot.

Easy set up what can i say wonderful sony.

Sony KD49XF7003 49-Inch 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV – The TV has no faults

Nice clear big screen with good picture quality. Very happy with my purchase.

Third sony tv in a row all been good.

The colours are beautiful and the picture quality is sharpthe 4k uhd really shows and i could sit and watch tv all dayplaying the ps4 pro on it is the highlight of my daythe sound quality on the tv is not very good just like any other slim smart tv but it’s nothing a good sound bar can’t fix. All in all, a gorgeous and amazing tv.

There are different sized screens available with this tv to suit individual needs. This is the 55 inch screen version. This is a decent 4k ultra high definition tv which produces clear picture and video playback. This sony tv has a 4k x-reality pro engine which up scales non-4k content and motionflow xr which ensures even the fastest action is clear. The sound quality is good for small compact built in speakers but for the sound enthusiast a external sound bar may be required. The smart tv features is good and easy to use but can be slow and sluggish at times. The built-in wi-fi connectivity is good and reliable and i have not encountered any serious problems whilst using it. You can use the smart tv feature to connect you with apps like youtube and netflix. The design and construction is very good, lightweight and slim with a tidy cable management feature. The 4k ultra high definition display is really clear and and this tv screen has four times the number of pixels than average 1080p full hd tvs.

Great looking set with excellent picture quality.

Unnecessarily made very complicated. Also the stand design is not great. Again made very complicated. Picture wise quality is good. Software is lacking behind samsung’s by 10 years.

Motionflow xr 400hz: every image on the screen refreshes at a higher rate than normal for noticeably smoother motion.

Whilst the basic picture quality of this panel is fantastic it is ruined by one fact. I’ve had my fill of sony using this technology as even when turned off it still does it. Meaning i don’t have a choice one way or another. There is little point in offering a menu choice if that is the case. The tv looks good, is easy to set up and delivers a supreme image in 4k gaming and film. But the moment you watch general television in hd (adverts and television films in particular) the juddering images are too off-putting for me to be able to engage for any period of time. I’ve been a sony customer for over 30 years buying a huge variety of products from them. However, unless they sort this motionflow thing out, i will never buy another sony television again.

Philips 55PUS6753/12 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV : This is stunning

Quite a nice tv that has so far looked great. The sound isn’t brilliant but good enough that i won’t be getting a soundbar. My only problem with the tv was that i experienced some flickering while watching hdr content but this seems to have been fixed after updating the tv.

Wps did not work at first so had to input the wpa key, no worries and got online. Streaming is good and through the wifi is very smooth. Let me warn you now that some films are super smooth if you have never seen a hd tv like this, it can take some getting used to. Watch lotr on netflix and you will see what i mean. When it tuned in initially snooker was on bbc hd which was great to fix the colours, they are to vivid imo so i dulled them a bit. The ambilight the nicest surprise. What a great thing to have, i can’t see me going back since it adds another dimension watching films. The interface is a bit clunky but seems like a fair trade off for the price. Managed to stream some movies files via dnla , i used the philips app for that – app isn’t the greatest so have patience. I made put the tv on static ip via the router to help connect all the time.

Edit: i ended up returning this tv because i couldn’t resolve the frame rate issues. So far the replacement unit seems ok. Got this tv in a sale so i’m pretty happy with what i got for the money. There are positives and negatives though. The good:looks nice on the wallambilight actually works really wellpicture quality is good (4k)a lot of tweaks can be madecheapsimple remoteblacks are very impressive for an lcdcolours are almost eye bleedingno lip sync problemsbright enough hdrthe bad:the picture can look bad (sd & hd)menus are convolutedtoo many tweaks can be madeseems to suffer from frame rate issuessoap opera effect on out of the boxso i went ahead and turned off all of the post processing malarkey and turned down the sharpness all the way and that improved the image immensely. I was still suffereing with very choppy frame rate issues though. I use a ps4 pro for all my content and the tv kept suggesting i put it in game mode. I followed its advice and the frame rate problems vanished. The picture can look bad a times when the image isn’t 4k, but i can’t attest to it too much as all the post processing is off on mine to improve the 4k image, it is a 4k tv after all. In summary it’s a good tv for the price, it’s not all singing all dancing and if you accept that then you’ll be happy with what you get.

I did some research, and this was the best i could afford for the quality of tv. First surprise, the lights in the back, really add to the overall watch quality. It is nice and light, and easy to put the stand on the base. The price is fantastic, plus free next day delivery. It is at least 20£ cheaper than other stores, plus free delivery, where other stores offer next day at 30£. No brainer on the purchase from amazon. The setup of the tv, now here i did have a little problem, but i would have thought it was p. I switched on and went through all the options, then tried to press the netflix button but nothing happened. So went to the home screen and again nothing happened. After a few attempts, i saw at the bottom i hadn’t agreed the terms, to press ok.

Features of Philips 55PUS6753/12 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with HDR Plus, Freeview Play, 3-sided Ambilight and Philips HTL5160B/12 3.1 Streaming-Soundbar

Ultra HD has 4X the resolution of standard Full HD.

This tv gets solid reviews online, albeit there are little, if any, in depth video reviews. I picked it up for under 300 on warehouse deals, but would be willing to pay full price in hindsight having seen it in the flesh. Smart system:the remote gets a bit of stick, but honestly i think it’s really well laid out and easy to navigate. The saphi system has a good user interface and everything you need is a click away. The big positive here, is that no matter what you are on, pressing the “home” button brings up the smart apps overlaid on whatever you’re watching, as opposed to coming out of the app you’re on, or moving you to a completely new screen. I’m yet to try netflix on this set, but going from the performance of youtube and iplayer, i’m sure that will be carried through – there is no issue with the responsiveness of button presses or app loading times. Audio:i used to sell tv’s, and am well aware that nearly all tv’s nowadays need a sound bar otherwise you’re listening to very tinny audio. Again, i was impressed in this department. The sound does have some depth to it that is very rare on a tv, with some separation between voice and music/sound effects, although as always a sound bar will be on most people’s setup. Video:i was literally taken back when i loaded up some youtube content before tweaking the picture settings on this.

The android operating system is a bit flakey does not respond at all sometimes. The remote no longer works have to use the joystick on the back to control the tv, could just be a problem with the software. Picture is good, luckily i am just using it as a monitor no need to use the remote. Very dissapointed with this tv especially since it had such good reviews. Satellite a waste of time as not free sat. I am updating this review as all the problems were down to a faulty remote, contacted philips who asked me to check the remote using my phone camera it proved to be faulty. I received a new remote within a day from philips all is fine now. The flakey software was due to the remote sending spurious signals to the tv.

Purchased on amazon prime day for a £379, the ambilight is great and with a 4k input the screen is impressive, std definition tv on the other hand is terrible and greys look polarised, we stick with hd channels, streaming services and xbox one x and at 1/3 the cost of a top end 4k tv we are happy enough.

Make sure this fits
by entering your model number.

After purchasing this tv with no reviews available due to it being only just released, i took a gamble on purchasing this tv. The tv is such a transformation on my old basic he tv, the colours ‘pop out’ on even mormalntv viewing, but once you play a 4k film. That’s when it comes into it’s own. With the added bonus of having the lights on the sides and top at the rear of the tv ot projects the picture to be even bigger than your viewing, it’s adds a nice touch. The tv is of basic smart apps, but i got this for such a steal on prime day that i can’t complain as i stream my 4k films from apps so it was no biggy to me. The sound is a bit of a let down compared to say the higher brands but again adding a sound bar or in my case having a cinema system makes this a needless complaint for myself, but thought i would be honest if you decide to consider purchasing?overall i’m very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this tv.

The picture and sound quality of this tv is amazing and the ambient light is out of this world. The only downside is that it decided one day that it will no longer be a smart tv. So all apps including netflix and app centre all stopped working even after a reinstall of the tv and reset to factory didn’t help. As of amazon they decided to replace the tv for me. I will see whether the issue will also affect the replacement and update this review.

Other shoppers, if you are looking for an affordable tv that is worth the money, then go for this one. This is our first smart tv and we use it with wifi only ( no tv license ). Our internet connection is pretty basic and whatever we watch on netflix, amazon prime, youtube is delivered in a very good quality. The ambilight feature is a fantastic extra i wasn’t expecting to be this great. The remote control and the software are highly responsive, making the tv smart a piece of cake and the thing is leight and thin enough.

Ambilight 3 sided for a truly immersive viewing experience

Really like this tv, the ambilight is fantastic. 4k, built in apps like amazon and netflix. Also no mains cable in the box, but amazon soon sorted this for me, without having to send the tv back however initial set up was problematic, as had connection issues to philips, had to side load software update. Since then no problems or niggles.

I had a 10 year old song bravia which had an amazing picture and i was waiting to be disappointed but this is an amazing tv for the money. The hue lights are so much fun as well, they really add to the experience, its a real talking point and it makes games and films so immersive. It does need to reconnect to your hue badge every time you switch it on which is super annoying and for some reason the world connection is a bit flakey but wireless has worked fine every time. Maybe that’s a bug that a firmware update could solve.

i have put off buying a 4k set for so long just because of price. I am so happy that i did or i would not have found this gem of a tv. I have an xbox one x to use with this tv so i did have some things that i needed from it to have and this ticks all the boxes for any current gen xbox oneit is everything i expected, it has everything you would expect from a modern set, nothing missing. The ui is easy and fast, the settings for setup and optimization is vast and deep so it should do exactly what you want it to do. Personally i have never seen so many options. It looks great, sounds great, and ambilight is definatly not a gimmick once you use it, it becomes a new way of watching tv. I have never been more immersed than when using this phillips wicked (3 sided) ambilight product. Update:now i have had this under my control almost non stop since i have had it and have fully setup all my smart tv things, the large amount and versatile settings i must mention are tweaked and the display is beautiful, and works great for tv, netflix or gaming equally. The ambilight has a gaming function to make it more aggressive and faster, rather as the softer options for movies, tv and music.

The Philips Pixel Precise Ultra HD engine optimizes picture quality to deliver smooth, fluid images with incredible detail and depth.

Weve had a 32″ samsung for the last 5-6 years. We decided we wanted a bigger screen and after reading the customer reviews here plumped for this 43″ philips. The picture is so much more vivid without being garish. The blacks are very black, unlike the muddy greys on the samsung. It is easy to set up, easy to operate and the menus are easy to navigateit suffers from the one fault that all flat screens suffer from and thats not very good sound. I have separate speakers for that. If you’re swithering which 43″ to buy, hesitate no longer, get this one. Oh, and did i mention the price.

We are really pleased with this tv and love the ambient lighting and its very easy to set up. One thing i dont like is it if you set a programme timer it automatically turns the tv on from standby at the selected time which can be annoying as i often move between rooms to watch tv and have been alarmed when i suddenly hear this tv on when i’m not in that room.

The only let down with my purchase is, some of the apps like “all4 and bbciplayer wont open?. I went for this make as philips has always been a trusted name. Im pleased with my purchase for the amazing picture, good enough sound for the bedroom. Not so fussed on the ambient light ( glad u are able to turn it off).

I bought this tv on amazon prime day and got a great price. I was a bit wary of buying it as i’m usually not a philips fan but the price was good and decided to give it a try. The first thing i noticed was the size ( lovely big screen ) and secondly how light it was to lift. Once turned on it was very easy to set up and internet connection was so quick and easy. Once i learned how to navigate the settings and finding where everything was , i then went to work on the picture settings to get the best possible viewing experience. I tweaked the settings bit at a time taking in what everything does until i got a vibrant very clear and sharp picture. Next i did the same with the sound settings which has a handy little graphic equalizer to tweak. I now had the picture and sound i hoped to get. I also bought a sound bar and connected that which enhanced the sound , this too connected very quickly via wireless. One thing i can’t find which possibly lets this tv down is bluetooth which is why i took a star off my rating.

Easily send music from phone to speaker with Google Cast

Decided to go for this during a black friday sale, i have been looking at oled tv’s but never seemed to want to budget for them especially at the price they are now. I play games and watch films so need a tv that would be suited for both. My main things i looked for with this purchase was screen size, 4k and colour options (hdr etc), motion smoothing and finally no moire. (moire is when something like a striped shirt or chain link fence would cause the screen to look strange and kind of glitchy when fine lines or patterns are displayed)the contrast modes and black levels on this tv are insane, they are as close to oled as i have seen and this is no exaggeration. Obviously, its not oled, so it won’t look like an oled. But going from this to paying for an oled makes little sense to me simply because the black levels are sooo good on this screen. It has a contrast processing mode that you can play about with to get it even darker and more vibrant and not a simple setting such as “high contrast on/off” it has many different levels, and different single adjustments to make. You hardly notice the backlight on the tv when end credits are playing or say for example the netflix logo is shown the screen is as dark as it could possibly be and the netflix logo is very vibrant. It is a seriously good upgrade from my samsung hdtv, that one had poor speakers that distorted with certain pitch sounds, it had a smart tv option but you needed to buy a dongle.

Bought this on prime day, so bought it for a great deal, but after getting it would of paid full price. Pictures so good in quality and the lighting behind the tv really makes movies and games pop.

Anyone looking for more needs to drop more dollar because this baby is mint. If you’re worried about the backlighting, it can be turned off, wife loves it as it draws her imperfect eyesight into the picture i’m not fussed one way or another, but will use it as disco lighting for house parties because it can follow audio. The interface is a bit slow, but who doesn’t use a console or skybox for the majority of their content. Nice to have netflix et-al there at a button press if needs be.

Bought this for my sons bedroom at a black friday price, worth every low cost penny. Good picture, pretty good sound, ambilight is great and plenty of built in apps – all you could need really. Menu is okay but not great for settings etc but not anything to really grumble aboutthe 43 inch size used to be for a main room but it doesn’t look big at all in a bedroom.

The positives:first & foremost a tv should be judged on its picture (& sound) quality and on those two counts you aren’t going to find better for the price. Give this tv a high quality 1080p or 4k source and the results are quite amazing, easily on par with tv’s costing two or three times as much, even the sound, usually atrocious on budget tv’s is very good without a sound bar, far superior to the budget panasonic tv it replaced, so much so that i’ve put on hold a decision to add a sound bar, so that was a pleasant surprise. The ambilight feature is also far more than just a gimmick and really adds to the experience if you position the tv correctly (flat against the wall, ideally mounted on the wall rather than a tv stand). Even the fake ‘hdr’ adds nice depth to the picture, it’s no oled but it’s better than no hdr. The negatives:the user interface and remote control are straight out of budget tv hell. Very slow and clunky, even compared to the ones on my 5yr old panasonic tv, that this replaced. The remote is very cheap feeling, with stiff unresponsive buttons and the fact that the user interface is so s. W in responding to your button presses, you’ll often find the selection you make on screen, lagging two or three button presses behind on the remote, often resulting in you overshooting your desired menu option, meaning you have to keep going back up the menu.

When on hd, this tv is brilliant. Less good on non-hd freeview. Great for prime tv and netflix. Sound ok, but much better when connected to my ‘cinema sound’. Having a bit of a problem on freeview as sound not 100% synchronised with picture. Not sure that the ambilight achieves anything , so would replace this tv without ambilight, given the opportunity. For a 42″ tv, this is very good value.

Samsung UE65KU6000 65-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV – : Annoying menu fading issue

The tv i received was not the one i ordered. It was a samsung 43 inch (ue43ku6072u) one. As such it wasn’t the one i had researched and chosen. However it seems to be ok, picture good although dark scenes are very dark, except that the remote control is not easy to operate the internet on.

Great tv certainly justifies “best buy” rating. Easy set up but needed to buy switch for extra internet connection to tv and pvr. Lack of scart socket not a problem at all. Could not be happier with choice.

Bought at a great price via lightning deal, delivery excellent as usual. As others have said really good picture and ok sound and whilst i thought it looked large at first, my last tv was a 26in i’ve soon got used to it. Unfortunately there was a very intermittent fault it would be ok for days and then there would be cases of rachet neck and even rarer pixelation, having spoken to a very pleasant techy at tvs&more they agreed to exchange it with no hassle or drama. I now have the replacement and all seems fine. Others have also mentioned the model varients this appears to be nothing to do with tvs&more or amazon as there is no differentiation at all on the box so you could get a 6000 6072 or 6092 having investigated it is said that there is no difference to the inside of the tv just a little cosmetic touches. Anyway a great tv and no problems at all with tvs&more i would buy again with confidence.

Great entry level 4k hdr tv, good sound quality.

Everything fine, easy to use, great sound and picture.

Having a problem with a disappearing menu bar which prevent me from seeing the different options so have to press the home button and try to be quick before the menu bar fades. May have found a fix by doing a full reset which is a pain.

Great sound for a skinny tv.

Very pleased with the tv, it’s exactly as described.

Excellent value for money especially being a good brand.

Delivery was was very prompt but dispute being told i am able to connect my pc i can’t find the connection would like someone to tell me where it is.

Ultra HD: Ultra detailed picture with live upscaling

It was easy to set up using the on screen instructions. The picture quality is excellent and the sound quality is much better than on my previous tv.

Having worked in the av industry for 7 years and being a big panasonic plasma fan, i was hesitant to go for a samsung, but so glad i did. The picture quality is superb, the menu and functionality is so user friendly and easy to use, but the sound quality from this tv is exceptional considering how small the speakers must be. A great screen well worth the money you pay for it.

It’s like the shows are being performed in the corner of the room.

Smart TV Hub: Stream shows, play games and share directly to your TV seamlessly

Love this tv – good quality, sharp pictures and enough apps to keep us busy at home on winter evenings. Very simple to set up and log on to wifi for catchup services. Remote is not as fiddly as some reviewers might suggest and is preferred to the larger ones that some tvs need. We love it and at a good price too.

Picture quality it’s fantastic for the price and there are plenty of connectivity options. The smarttv function is a great addition, saving alot of power/hassle by not having to use my pc or ps4. Speaking of ps4, the hdmi port allows for hdr upgrade to synthesise the effect of having 4k visuals despite only having a regular playstation.

Product was as advertised – performing well so far.

Nice and thin and quality picture. Also very light so easy to hand. My only gripe was that the power lead they supply is not right angled, so when you plug it in the tv, it can’t sit flush to the wall due to the power cable. I had to purchase a right angled power connector to fix this otherwise it would have got 5 stars.

Quad core processing: Fast multitasking, enhanced performance and smooth interactions

. Great picture can see details.

Tv turns on by itself something to do with inferred.

Fantastic tv, great picture, great sound and well built.

High quality product with easy setup instructions (on screen). Nice clear picture and very good sound.

The image could probably be slightly better, but it is perfectly adequate and bright enough. The smart features work well, and as yet i’m yet to have a problem with this set.

Samsung tv 4k ultra hd is great, tv picture quality and at a reasonable price.

Philips 65PUS6523/12 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV – Great quality & value for your money

First time i recived a damaged tv with a blue line on the left of the screen, but the repleace of the tv was verry quick and the second tv it working verry good the quality of the image it s awesom, the sound can be better but at this priece it the best 4k tv you can get.

I have had this tv for a couple of days now and so far i’m pretty impressed. Considering the price it’s not bad at all. The only thing i have found is the sound quality is pretty poor but again considering the price i can’t grumble too much. This was rectified easily by adding a sound bar. The connections on the back of the tv are at an awkward angle so elderly purchasers may need some assistance. The tv is very easy to install and didn’t take long at all. All in all it’s a great tv for the price.

I decided to upgrade my tv from a normal one to a smart one. I chose this one because it had the amazon prime app built in. After getting it set-up i was amazed as to how well the nfl looked on it.

Overall, lost a star because of two issues for me. 1) after hanging on the wall, there is no access to the various ports, usb, hdmi etc. 2) every time i switch on the tv, it tells me there are no channels registered and to connect an aerial or cable and register some. I don’t have a tv licence so do t want any channels.

Arrived 16hrs after delivery, not on prime just standard free delivery. The hardest thing about the set up was opening the boxit took me five minutes to set up wifi, hdmi input devices and xbox connection. Looks and sounds great so far, of course it’s only the first day of use but, wow.

I must admit to having already formed an opinion that this budget tv form their range was going to offer poor results and i was wrong it is pretty good :)i shall however go over the hdmi inputs specs which seem to me are a little strange. 2 only on hdmi1computer inputs on hdmi1 up to 4k uhd 3840×[email protected] hzcomputer inputs on hdmi2/3 up to 4k uhd 3840×[email protected] hzvideo inputs on hdmi1 up to 4k uhd 3840×[email protected] hzvideo inputs on hdmi2/3 up to 4k uhd 3840×[email protected] hzalso not listed on the product spec page is that hdr support is only hdmi2/3 and arc is on hdmi1it does not say which specification the hdmi ports meet. So to get the best picture out of a uhd blu-ray it needs to be on hdmi2/3 but if you are using an a/v amp and want the tv sound on it it has to be on hdmi1 with no hdr and 30hz maximum. I assume the better models offer more flexibility. Anyway, setup was easy and the tv is pretty light weighing only 8. 8kgit does have satellite support but no uk channel lineup but if you pick austria they are in amongst the 800 channels so unless you are a nerd ignore the satellite connection. Tv aerial freeplay support works as expected. Either wifi or wired network connection are available with options for sound style (the speakers point down and are on the bottom). The silver grey colour of the tv clashes a bit with by black tv stand but i can get used to that.

I bought this 65-in tv for my xbox and i am really happy with it.

I would have gone 5 stars if i didn’t have the issues with the tv installation. When i ran the setup everything went ok until connection to the server to install the smart features. It didn’t work through the setup. It took me a while to figure out. I used the phillips support site to download and install from usb to correct version of software. But, until that i’ve been trying to reinstall the tv multiple times.

Easy to set up and get online, great picture and sound quality. For the price it is a real bargain, best £300 i’ve ever spent.

I’m really pleased with the tv i love it.

Freeview hd channels look stunning on this tv and my playstation games have lot’s more detail, the downside at least for me was that ‘normal’ channels look particularly poor, there seems to be fringing on the edges of everything and everyone as though it’s been over processed. I have altered the settings and still, non hd channels look worse quality than on my old tv. I cannot say 100% that it may be improved by more fiddling about with the settings but as i rarely actually watch tv i’m not too fussed. Tv was extremely easy to set up and having the catch up internet channels right there is excellent. Very much worth the money on the budget end of 4k smart tv’s.

The tv is great quality price, the picture and sound are awesome. Easy to set up so many preinstall apps incluiding prime video. But i put 3 stars because the power cable is missing, i wasn’t on the box.

Having bought four different makes of flat screen tv sets over the last ten years, i can say this latest phillips 55 inch ultra hd flat screen bought off amazon is truly a great buy. It arrived several days early, and because i am infirm, my adult son wired it up and said it was simple, and all you have to do is read the instructions if you must, but the tv does most of the ‘tuning’ itself. Apart from making sure the power is on and you are hooked up either by cable or wireless to your wi-fi (i. Skybox or bt box or another provider) simply update the ‘apps’ that operate the set. This is done on screen with the click on the remote control. In five minutes all was working beautifully, including youtube and netflix and loads of others. The picture is superb and sharp in focus and colours are natural. The sound is good too, although we have rigged up our samsung sound system to enhance the new set further.

Wasn’t sure given the price what this would be like but it’s excellent quality very pleased , though maybe should have gone for a bit less than 50 inch screen haha.

I have just upgraded from my 39′ panasonic 1080p tv. The picture quality is superb- the screen is bright and colourful but also has great organic looking blacks. Great bass and doesn’t buzz on the high end. My only issue is that the interface can be sluggish at times but as i don’t use the smart features all of the time, this isn’t really an issue.

Great quality 50 inch smart tv; philips brand for sure a lot better brand compared to heinse such wraps properly & protected the screen in the box, screen a lot better quality, stronger but light & all the functions a lot better too. Therefore, i can recommend philips brand to anyone wanting 50inch smart tv as great quality & value for your money.

Btw the tv doesnt android but it has some apps already installed like netflix and youtube.

The picture isn’t always great when streaming tv through the internet. For the price paid and the technical specification of the product i would have thought the overall picture quality would be better.

I don’t dislike it it annoying because as you watching the screen decides to switch off why.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Trusted Name, brilliant product.
  • A Lot Better Than I Imaged It Would Be (But Funny Specs On HDMI Inputs)
  • Surprisingly good sound, excellent value

Great picture quality and contrast. This tv is on 24/7 in our office and it works great even when exposed to sun light.

My first ‘proper’ smart wifi enabled tv. . Gorgeous picture with blu-ray, hd-dvd, dvd and youtube hq videos. Don’t get me wrong – an excellent smart tv for those starting out on a 4k capable tv experience, but not for me. Just watch out for the ridiculously small buttons on the remote (which has a curved back, impossible for picking up when relaxing and needing to wake up sufficiently to pick up and aim the damned thing) and the confusing menus for someone who has spent over a decade with panasonic gear. I now have the panasonic equivalent and peace is restored albeit with a slightly inferior picture (but not by much). A flawed miracle that may suit others (sent back).

For the price this is a really excellent tv, particularly the sound for a flat screen tv. We have a sony costing four times as much as this in the living room, with much inferior sound from its built in speakers, so had to add speakers to make it ok. I assumed i would have to get speakers or sound bar for the philips, but the sound is actually really very acceptable, so shan’t bother. Picture quality is fine too, although best to fiddle about with the settings to get something better than the over-sharpened over-saturated out of the box settings. Very happy with this: a steal at the price.

Bought from amazon warehouse. Couldn’t see any issues with it. 55inch looks great on my wall. Sound and picture quality is awesome.

This really is a fantastic tv especially for the price that i bought it for from amazon. Very easy to set up and use. Terrific picture and i have to say the sound considering the width of the tv is impressive. If your thinking about buying one, do it. I’m very happy with this uhd tv. Obviously not had it too long to comment on reliability, but great buy and would buy again.

Toshiba 55U5863DB 55-Inch Smart 4K Ultra-HD HDR LED WiFi TV : Amazon not interested in problems.

I’ve tried 4k tv’s before, this doesn’t have annoying motion blur problems, the 4k is pretty smooth and pretty. Live tv recording works with simple usb dongle. Doesn’t have live pausing of tv. Brightness and colour look great, contrast is sufficient for dark scenes. However there is an annoying bright spot, which will be down to luck whether you get this or not. I’m really trying to not have this annoy me, given they boast features of the tv but have something so basic go wrong. All in all i’m happy with the deal i got, just wish the bright white light bleed through wasn’t on my set. Not sure if they would return for this.

For the £400 i spent on this, the picture quality and features are not bad. It’s exceptionally minimalist and lacks more precise features a tv like this should have such as motion smoothing, but generally the interface is good. The picture quality too is excellent, with vibrant colours and vivid details. The physical quality is pretty poor – it feels flimsy and the remote control is pretty cheap to say the least. However, the biggest problem with this tv is the horizontal banding – not everyone will notice it, and i’ve had two of these sets so i know it’s an issue with the particular model – there are a number of dark horizontal bands across the whole screen, probably caused by ribbon cables behind the screen, but they’re unbelievably distracting, as anyone with an interest in tech will tell you, as soon as you discover a flaw, your eye is drawn to that and not the picture as a whole. This banding is not always noticeable – it stands out hugely in light brown and beige scenes, blue and rich colours are great – but it will marginally warp the picture when a scene pans down the way. It’s an awful let down, because otherwise the tv is really great, and we can overlook the physical quality. But we can’t overlook significant artifacting.

Very well packaged tv and i can’t fislt the picture quality and the sound?. I have it at levels 10-20 and it can much higher. The inbuilt apps are great and very easy to switch to things like nowtv.

Great easy to set up and great to watch.

Live and breathe the on-screen action with a Toshiba 4K UHD TV.

I’ve added the word budget as it is just that, but that doesn’t mean bad. I have a 55 inch sony android tv and 43 inch samsung tv (both 4k) in addition to this. Both are clearer and sharper, however, more expensive. The samsung nearly twice the price for the same size (43 inch). I paid £279 and the feature set is incredible for that amount of money. Sound quality is actually very good, in the location i have it in, tv speakers are the only option. I’d usually connect to an a/v amp and it doesn’t sound too bad at all. With none of the automatic volume controls or equaliser it did seem to act oddly to music being played from youtube. Played rudimental through the tv (which does tend to hit all the audio spectrum) and it seemed to get a bit mushy. General tv watching was fabulous.

Could have done with more hmdi points. Overall pleased with purchase.

I got this for a neighbour and installed it myself and i was pretty amazed by the quality of this panel. I mean it is pretty good for this price really, my tv cost 6 times more and the difference is more for a professional to tell. Putting on the stand can be fiddly and annoying but you’ll get there sooner or later, after that all was pretty smooth and even the setup and updating the software was very intuitive i didn’t have to read any manuals or anything like that. If this is around your budget i would go for this rather than another model or brand, 43″ is also quite good. It is a pretty stylish tv, slim bezels and chrome stand make it a very nice addition to a square tv stand or piece of furniture.

Brought this tv for my xbox to go 4k. Not the thinnest tv, in fact more old school which is a good thing i think. With the extra meat it doesnt feel like its going to fold in half when you want to push a cable in. G which i had to send back which arrived damaged for this reason. The toshiba is still light and stylish the wireless setup is easy and all the apps you expect. The picture is crisp and very detailed, and did have the tv speakers on for a while they are fine.

I had no idea what i was doing buying a tv so did get some help from my brother when i was looking. This tv was so easy to set up and install and i absolutely love it. Had no problems at all with it and had it around 3/4 months now.

“Dolby Vision capable” –

This is actually an lcd tv not a led. It very thick on the width like the old lcd tvs used to be. Not even close the thin new led tvs. It is written on the box of the tv also on the sticker on the back of the tv that is a lcd tv. I can’t really imagine how amazon and toshiba have pulled this scam. The image and sound quality are pretty fine but it’s really disappointing when you think you bought a led tv and you get a lcd.

A great tv, that was bought for use in east africa. Considering the poor quality of both satellite and terrestrial tv , in east africa, this tv is absolutely amazing. The picture upscaling works perfect with an improvement in viewing quality being 100s%. Viewing was crisp, clear and as good as any hd channel that we receive in the uk. I highly recommend this tv as the technological quality is outstanding and can produce excellent viewing in africa so it must be perfect for the uk as well.

Got it for amazon prime and netflix. No aerial so builtin wifi was perfect.

Capture a wider spectrum of sound with integrated Onkyo speakers.

We purchased this for an elderly person who needed a bigger screen and a simple to use tv at a reasonable price. This fits the bill perfectly. Good quality, simple auto tune and easy remote. Only real issue is that assembly instructions could have been a bit clearer, but thankfully the elderly person was not assembling it.

Replacement sent, internet tv freezes all the time. Amazon only interested in refunding my £400, told me to buy another tv. Told them i can’t buy with similar deal as it was a prime special. Told them i wanted a replacement. Actually told me to contact manufacturer. Poor illinformed customer service. Sad thing is tv despite its faults is pretty good but not as a smart tv. Stick a 4k amazon stick in and it is great. Next time though i will use high street store like currys.

I bought this to replace a 6 years old sony hd smart tv. There was nothing wrong with the sony but just felt like it was time for an update and i’m so glad i did. The picture quality is leaps and bounds ahead of the sony, even though the sony was more than twice the price of this one when i bought it. Its also 10 inches bigger which really adds to the experience. The only reason i knocked a point off the picture quality is because the blacks aren’t quite as black. The smart features have also come along way in 6 years and i found linking it to my echo no problem at all. It’s great being able to control basic functions with voice commands. I also looked at sony, samsung and lg’s when thinking of purchasing this tv and i really couldn’t tell any difference in quality until you get over £1,000. So for the price of this one i think its an absolute steal.

My toshiba tv was very easy to set up and works extremely well. It’s finished with a very pretty silver stand. Which you cannot see in photo.

Talk to Alexa via an Amazon Echo or Echo dot and control your TV with nothing but the sound of your voice, see video for set up instructions

I use this for my pc and for my ps4 pro, yes it does enable hdr, brilliant picture, superb sound and for the price you pay you are getting a bargain.

This was the first smart tv i bought and it’s got a fantastic quality, has built in apps including netflix. The only downside is that it has 3 hdmi ports where as the 2017 model had four.

I got this in the black friday sale so it was cheaper than usual. Arrived on time with no problems and well packaged. Easy to set up and a great picture. I’ve got mine connected to the internet using a cable, but it can also connect to wi-fi. I also really like the tv stand the came with it. I’ll probably order this tv again when i need a new one.

Sony KD43XF7073 43 Inch 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV – There are different sized screens available with this TV to suit individual

This is a nice 4k ultra high definition tv which produces good quality picture. This sony tv has a 4k x-reality pro engine which up scales non-4k content and motionflow xr which ensures even the fastest action is clear. The sound quality is decent for small compact built in speakers but for the sound enthusiast a external sound bar may be required. Features:4k x-reality pro: upscales non-4k content to reveal extra detail for increased clarity no matter what you’re watching. Motionflow xr 400hz: every image on the screen refreshes at a higher rate than normal for noticeably smoother motion.

Third sony tv in a row all been good.

Great looking set with excellent picture quality.

Nice clear big screen with good picture quality. Very happy with my purchase.

Unnecessarily made very complicated. Also the stand design is not great. Again made very complicated. Picture wise quality is good. Software is lacking behind samsung’s by 10 years.

Sony BRAVIA KD49XF8096 49 Inch Android 4K HDR Ultra HD TV : Don’t hold back my best tv to date

I’m a sucker for sony since 2011and this hasn’t disappointed. The picture quality is sharp and the sound very decent. The added voice remote control is really handy especially for a busy mum. It is definitely pricey but having tried others i much prefer the sony bravia android.

The first tv was damaged in shipment. The second one worked for three days before the picture went out. The third and current tv seems to be working fine so far. It has a great picture quality with decent sound but could have even better sound with a sony sound bar. This tv is very “state of the art” high tech tv. It really has it all and it is truly great when it works. I might have had a lemon the first time because so far this last tv is working well – i have no complaints with it. Crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

Great picture quality, but be aware freesat is not built in and freeview only works with a digital ariel. Built in speakers are ok,but only a 2yr guarantee here on amazon as opposed to 5 from john lewis at same price.

Love the picture quality of the 4k. Sound is good for the size of the tv but never great due to how small the speakers are, will be great with soundbar. Tv looks amazing and the android tv works without issue.

4K HDR – Immerse yourself in the brilliance of 4K HDR –

In testing alexa integration before setting up for an elderly disabled person i discovered that the tv will not respond to turn on by alexa voice command if the tv has been off for over an hour or two and is only using wireless network. This is entirely replicable and does not occur if you use a network cable to connect to your router. I gave up with sony support as they only care to follow standard basic troubleshooting steps, that are entirely irrelevant and don’t seem interested in accepting a bug report. Also, if tv has been powered down completely (at plug socket) for any length of time, make sure you check the date/time as the android layer may not connect to the internet otherwise. (symptom: top level network settings states ‘connected, no internet’, wifi connection below that displays internet connected and ip address correctly). Lovely tv otherwise, so one star lost for faults and low quality sony support.

Fantastic picture quality both hd and 4k, easy set up. Sound quality good but when used with a sony sound bar it’s brilliant. Highly recommend that you put this on your list when choosing a new tv.

Fantastic tv, easy to set up, works well with my other sony devices. Only downside is the android operating system is a bit clunky at times but barely use that really as i have virgin tv etc. Great bit of kit and looks great in out living room.

Good sound and clear picture as i had expected.

When the delivery came through from arrow xl, they had not made sure that the tv was a) stored the right way up and b) protected against water damage. The van flooded during transit from heavy rain which soaked the whole end of the box, which it had been stood on. I opened the box and tested the tv, thankfully the tv was deep in the box which meant that the antistatic film was dry and the tv was undamaged. I loaded it up and the image was fine, no dead pixels so i let the delivery guy go. The tv itself is fantastic, great image and great to watch. Really happy with it and the os is great. The blacks aren’t quite as deep as some might like, but that is a minor issue compared to the overall package. Great colours, speed of image, presentation and i have suffered none of the os issues i’ve heard about. I’m in a new house so the internet is being connected today, so i may add to this report once i’ve streamed 4k footage through it.

Thanks to one of amazon’s many amazing offers, i managed to upgrade my 10 year model of sony bravia to this fabulous tv. The quality of picture & sound is amazing and it was easy to set up even for a technophobe like me. I like the built-in hub too, so much for so good a price.

4K X-Reality PRO – Every detail re-imagined –

This tv offers rich and vibrant colours and very fluid motion. Definition and detail are stunning and when watching 4k uhd content it is remarkably good for the price. The tv runs on android and has excellent smart tv functionality. The viewing angle is wide and it can be viewed from quite oblique angles and still looks good. The sound is very good for built in sound, for watching movies you may want a separate sound system with a sub-woofer but for normal tv i think the built in sound is perfectly adequate and even for movies it is ok (albeit it is not in the same league as a decent surround sound system). I got the 43″ screen for the bed room and it is incredible just what quality is available for a relatively modest budget these days, its not that long ago that a top of the line set costing £££££££’s wouldn’t get near to this. It feels a lot nicer than the cheaper entry level sets but you’re not getting high end premium materials and feel. That said, it doesn’t feel cheap or low rent.

This sony bravia is exactly what i want in a smart tv and it provides a great number of interesting movies. I am still finding new things it has.

Took delivery of this a few days ago. The picture quality is absolutley stunning and the sound quality is good once set up correctly. The design is top notch as you would expect from sony and i can’t fault the android system – i’ve had no speed issues as some have mentioned. What is really frustrating is the limitations of the inbuilt youview system. You have a choice of either disabling youview and being able to record channels onto hdd, but not being able to access itv player or all 4. Or enabling youview and being able to access them, but losing the ability to recordit seems like a major oversight/design flaw, and is not mentioned anywhere before you buy. Except in online support forums which you would only find when searching for the problem specificallyoverall a great tv, just not without annoying issues.

Ultimate 4K HDR viewing experience with HDR10 and Dolby Vision* support for ground-breaking detail, colour and brightness.

Great tv, only issue is to use the built in freeview can slow down tv and still need to use external harddrive to pause record rewind.

Good tv with plenty of features. There is no lag in the remote as mentioned in other reviews i have read. Easy to set up out of the box. Recommends 2 people but managed on my own. My only gripe would be the audio which sounds poor on most of the available settings that are pre loaded. Maybe i will try adjusting those to see if it improves. All in all a great bit of kit for £474.

Have had bravia tvs over the years none have disappointed. Picture crystal clear and sharp. Smart tv feature is great, sound quality is top notch. Other than that this bravia is great. One issue was the poor quality remotes they now produce which does not always work unless directly aimed at tv.

Great tv, lovely picture, plenty of settings, very pleased with it, only problem it seems to take a while to respond to commands sometimes, fantastic tv though.

Broad range of video and music content support, including Dolby Atmos and DTS: X soundtracks, DSD, FLAC, MP3

Fantastic all round tv, i have a nvidia shield android box and amp plugged into it and it runs great. The only apps that i use on the tv are bbc iplayer, itv hub and all4 and they run great. I stream a lot though my nvidia shield onto this tv and the picture quality is incredible. I bought a 4k av receiver to go with it and i have been watching football, boxing, snooker and films on it and it handles it perfectly, don’t know why people say it goes pixelated because i haven’t had any problems.

I’m not really an expert on image quality and tvs but moving from my old 32″ samsung to this has definitely felt like an upgrade in every aspect. The 4k hdr content i’ve watched on this tv looks crisp, vivid and overall spot-on. Sound is alright but don’t expect anything amazing from a built-in tv speaker. Pleasantly impressed by the thin bezel and how thin the tv is. The only downside is that the menu navigation is a bit sluggish on the default settings. I’m a big fan of android tvs but their settings out-of-the-box can be a bit too much so tv settings required some tweaking. Once this was done though, browsing through the tv menus is snappy and comfortable. Perhaps the only not so great aspect is the built-in chromecast. Sometimes it doesn’t stream content correctly and it’s not discoverable by other devices in my home network. But 90% of the time it works just fine.

Having had a sony bravia for several years, it was time for an upgrade and this tv is just that. Moving from a 37″ to a 43″ isn’t a quantum leap but the picture quality difference is very noticeable the uhdtv is very clear and the colours are vibrant. The speakers aren’t brilliant but, as i always intended to connect the tv to a sony sound system, that was never an issue and it sounds great. The remote is easy to use and the smart features work well after connecting to my wifi. All in all i am well satisfied with my sony tv.

Replaced a old sony bravia full hd tv for this one and the pciture is amazing with 4k and hdr, great for gaming a must have.

Coming from an old sony hd tv (one of the first hd tvs to come out 720p 32″) and over 10 years old but still worked as well as the day i got it which is why i decided to stick with sony and i’m so glad i did the 4k picture is unreal so sharp and the colours so bright and being an android tv takes it to a totally different level i’ve seen other makes that have there own app stores with only there own apps and couldn’t get on with them but this is just like using your phone/tablet and i don’t know how i’ve gone this long with out one had heard stories that the sound on these new slim bezel tvs isn’t that good and to be honest it could be better but it’s still as good as any other tv i’ve owned was a little worried about it being 4k as i thought i’d have to buy a 4k bly ray player or subscribe to some over priced satellite package but was really surprised as you can buy and download or stream the newest films out infact with the purchase it lets you pick out two films to keep for good to start your collection and in 4k and also being an amazon prime and netflix subscriber there’s a good collection of content in 4k to pick from too so all in all i’m so happy i picked this tv and i don’t think you could tempt me with any other one out there in this price range so if your thinking of going for this one don’t think anymore just go ahead and get it oh and one more thing i also picked this one to work with an amazon echo plus and had a few teething problems at first but now it turns it on and over and the volume up and down and changes the hdmi channels too.

When the tv arrived it was damaged in transit. Courier arrived to pick it up and a replacement arrived to ireland within 2days. I must say the costomer service was top class. This is a great all round 4 k uhd tv. Not for the sports enthusiast motion a bit blurry. Other than that general tv shows and hd movies look fab. It also comes with a 5 year warranty. It was sold by ask direct and fulfilled by amazon. I would highly recommend them for your next tv. A happy irish coustomer is all i can say.

Philips 50PUS6753/12 50-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV – Cheap and cheerful

Excellent tv at a very good price.

Features of Philips 50PUS6753/12 50-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with HDR Plus, Freeview Play, 3-sided Ambilight and Philips HTL5160B/12 3.1 Streaming-Soundbar

Since ambilight came out years ago i always thought it was gimmick, but i’ve been so surprised by how good it is. You can of course turn if off if you don’t like it, but i often watch telly with the lights off and i think ambilight comes into it’s own here. Genuinely feel like it is reducing eye strain, but frankly i don’t really care, just really like the way it extends the essence of the picture. The sound has taken a pounding from many reviewers, but i was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve not listened to a tvs speakers at home in years, preferring to run audio through either a 5. Since the smart features are actually pretty good on this, and i was connected via the wrong hdmi port for arc (audio return channel), i found myself checking out the built in speakers. I didn’t buy this for smart features (i normally use a 4th gen apple tv since they allowed prime video), nor for it’s sound, but have been surprised by both. I find myself using both, to the extent where i decided by a new entry level 4k 7.

It’s a 4k tv with hdr plus, it will display movies in 4k with hdr just fine, but for xbox one x gaming, you’ll only get the 4k, not the hdr which is a shame. However it was a reasonable price, i paid £329 in the black friday deals. There are more expensive models that would do have hdr in gaming. Where this tv comes into its own when you’ve got the philips hue lighting, which i have some. Set up an entertainment zone and it really does feel like you’ve been sucked into the action. If you just want a 4k tv, you could probably get better, if you’ve invested in the philips hue lighting system, don’t by anything elsealso paired it with a new amazon 4k fire stick, had issues with that and 4k content, but that was due to the settings on that, not on the tv.

Ultra HD has 4X the resolution of standard Full HD.

Absolutely amazing tv for the price i paid (£379 black friday deal) coupled with the philips ambilight feature you won’t be disappointed as long as you are prepared to tweak the picture settingsso i had to do a little research online to find the best settings for picture quality as the standard settings do not do the tv justice. I found settings not for this tv but a similar philips tv and used this as a basis then played around further until i was satisfied. I can’t share the website but it’s for the philips pus6272 on the whathifi website. Also the hdr setting is hidden away until you play hdr content so bear this in mind when adjusting your picture setting, i found that hdr vivid is the best setting for this. Once i tweaked, i was very impressed with the tv. Both for watching content and playing video games one my xbox one. The ambilight feature is truly amazing, booted up planet earth 2 on netflix as i had the uhd membership and was blown away by how well it’s integrated into watching tv content, there is a slight lag but it’s not noticeable. As for sound i cannot comment as i used a sound bar straight away. The remote is ok and has a dedicated netflix button which is useful. The smart tv feature has all the usual apps you need – netflix, prime video, iplayer, all4 itvplayer and 5ondemand.

Bought this on prime day, so bought it for a great deal, but after getting it would of paid full price. Pictures so good in quality and the lighting behind the tv really makes movies and games pop.

Make sure this fits
by entering your model number.

It is a seriously good upgrade from my samsung hdtv, that one had poor speakers that distorted with certain pitch sounds, it had a smart tv option but you needed to buy a dongle.

i have put off buying a 4k set for so long just because of price.

Ambilight 3 sided for a truly immersive viewing experience

So, we bought this tv because it is 4k, right size, has the ambi-light feature, and was available at an amazing price. It arrived very well packed and it was easy to install, hardware wise. When we switched it on, well, that’s a different story. It didn’t want to connect to the wi-fi at all, despite us entering the right password. I gave up at some point and just connected it through an ethernet cable. The picture quality is very good, if you struggle for hours to set it. I like that the blacks are proper blacks, not a faded black-grey-like colour. For that, i give it 5 stars. The 4k resolution is amazing and everything looks greatthe sound quality is pretty good, although i always use external speakers as i like to have proper bass, because we listen to a lot of music using the tv.

Delighted i made this impulse purchase, the price was just too good not to get it. Was a bit on edge about the sound, it’s nots the best, my old philips tv sound was way better, but we have a small sitting room so no need for us to purchase a sound bar. But you would need one if you have a large open area. Our old philips telly had the ambilight on both sides, this has it on 3 side, which looks fantastic against the wall. It’s the reason i won’t go with another brand. Once you have it, your hooked. Haven’t used the apps except for netflix, honestly there is a 99. 9% chance we will never ever use them. So can’t give any feedback on that department.

The Philips Pixel Precise Ultra HD engine optimizes picture quality to deliver smooth, fluid images with incredible detail and depth.

It looks like the tv requires a polarised figure 8 mains cable (one side squared), and several reviews mentioned this. Even though the cable included looks like it will not fit, it actually fits if you push it in using a little force (this is from philips official customer service). I was misled by some reviews saying the cable was wrong, it wasn’t. If the cable you received is the same attached in picture, it is the correct one even there is no squared side on it. The tv itself is very good, ambient light is definitely a plus.

Easily send music from phone to speaker with Google Cast

Excellent picture on this tv, and the ambilight really adds a great perspective to films. However only drawback is software, sometimes difficult to actually turn the tv off, and sometimes glitches on apps. I did consider returning because of this, but found regularly turning off at mains seems to alleviate problem, and also anything similar in spec is actually a lot dearer, so great value at the price.

Old samsung broke 46″ led that cost £799 five years ago. I was concerned that i may get an inferior tv but now feel silly as it blows the old one away. I am not yet able to put on the wall as you can see in photo due to thread size in back of tv is smaller than samsung was. All in all my best buy for a number of years. Hard to believe there is a better tv out there for less than £1000. If you haven’t got hdr get it and even better with ambilight. 55″ model is ideal from four meters away.
