Had to send the original one back as wouldn’t play.

Great looking record player with a great sound.

Looks very good and is easy to set up and play but. Daughter never been off it. . Bought all old vynyl down from the loft and reminisced all christmas day.

It’s much better than expected. It comes fitted with an audio technica magnetic pick up, a definite step up in quality from the (red) ones fitted to similar record players. It’s a shame that crosley didn’t go that bit further & improve the overall quality. I’m sure there’s a really good record player in there just bursting to get out. It’d be well worth paying a bit extra. I’m sure there’s a gap in the market for a quality retro looking new record player.

If you’re like me, a non-expert who usually listens to cds in their car or through their computer in a very non-critical way, then when you read the very harsh review on this item you will worry you’ve bought something useless. However, i can say that overall i’m very pleased with this unit. It is extremely compact and will store easily if necessary and it also looks extremely stylish too. The sound isn’t at all bad – if you’re like my brother who has every hi-tech speaker and gadget going then yes you probably would be disappointed but for me the sound was good enough, it’s clear and you can adjust the tone. It’s more than adequate to play my old records on and to also renew my love for vinyl. You can hook it up to external speakers too if necessary. I also like the convert to mp3 feature. It lost two stars because firstly the one i received had scuff marks on the lid and for that reason i am sending it back as i expect a new item to at least look new.The second lost star is for price, i personally think it’s a little bit over-priced for what it is, it’s not very sturdy and very light weight which i know adds to its portability but i’m not convinced it would withstand much moving about as i don’t think there is a clip to keep the stylus arm in a fixed position.

Great fun portable record player in nostalgic retro design. I was kindly supplied this product free of charge and in return i agreed to write an honest review detailing quality, looks, sound performance etc. Being a child of the 80s i was more than a little excited about being given the opportunity to test run the crosley collegiate turntable – i finally had the chance to blow the dust off my old records and relive some of the happiest days of my lifesure, just like everyone else, i too have been swept along by the gigantic digital tidal wave and have been seduced by the likes of mp3 players, ipods and youtube. But there’s something about vinyl. The crosley collegiate turntable is a usb-ready portable record player in retro vintage look. Lightweight and compact, its ‘briefcase’ design means you can grab a stack of vinyls, tuck it under your arm and take it with you. Not one for long-winded and complicated installations, i was delighted to find that i could literally take the collegiate out of its box, remove the top cover, plug it in and enjoy some epic 80s tunes within minutes. The turntable comes complete with mains adapter, usb cable, 3.

A nice retro looking record player. A nice retro looking record player. However i was unable to try it,as it had a defective needle/stylus. I returned the whole unit to the supplier. Crosley are an american/canadian company. On their website, they only ship spares within usa or to a registerd stockist within the uk. I was unable to locate anyone in the uk who supplied spares, so it is a consideration for future routine replacements of needles and belts.

  1. Got this a xmas present for my mother. She wanted a “simple record player”. It’s smaller than expected and quite “plastic”. It looks the part, but doesn’t deliver when handled. The switches are also very small and poorly labelled, located under the arm which is a bit of an odd location. It plays ok, not very loud, but loud enough. The speed is a little off, but you need a good ear to notice it.

Was surprised at how good sound was – helped by the tone knob.Doesn’t jump owing to the magnetic and more weighted leg. Can play my ipad through it as well.

    1. A vintage touch with a modern finish. I was kindly given this product to test and to give my honest opinion:i’m fairly new to vinyls as i was brought up in the age of cds which is still being used today. I first started buying vinyls when my dad brought down his old box down from the attic and showed off his old favourites. Since then i’ve been keen to buy vinyl editions of my favourite artist’s albums so i was happy to take up the chance to get a vinyl player of my very own. The packaging itself is fairly standard and secure. A box with styrofoam packaging to keep it secure and inside the box is the vinyl player, software cd and a manual. I struggled at first to find the power lead for player, which i found in a compartment at the bottom of the device which i thought, was a nice touch. Inside this compartment there is a uk power lead and a usb cable for when you want to connect the device to a computer to rip your vinyl digitally. The device itself has a nice shiny gloss finish to it which gives it a modern feel whilst being contradicted by a retro speaker grill at the front, but they work together really well and looks great when it’s being used or even sat on the side. The blue top of the player is actually a ‘lid’ as once the clips come off the side it can be removed from the open hinge on the back.
