Amazing unit but spotify connect has bugs. I did not purchase this from amazon, but from a dealer that is on the amazon marketplace who offered a two year warranty like another reviewer did. I’ll start buy saying its much bigger than expected. But beautiful and well put together. Two minutes and i was up and running, on ios devices, spotify, the wifi connection everything done. They’ve clearly gone to some trouble to make this easy and seamless.
Very pleased with the features and quality but i have had problems with the wifi connection to my bt home hub. It took a few attempts to get the receiver to initially connect to the router. Once set up, the box did all it promised to do. Particularly liked airplay from iphone and ipod touch features. However, next day it couldn’t connect to the internet so i had to go through the set-up procedure again, losing all the radio station presets that i had saved. This has been an ongoing issue. Denon’s customer support has been quick to respond, and by turning off auto-channel on the wifi router, i’ve had better reliability, but i still get times when it cannot find my router and without an internet connection, you cannot access internet radio or airplay functions.

Not had any reasonably good hi-fi for many years , having owned a linn/ celestion system so i know a good sound when i hear it. Decided to buy the denon on their reputation , value and various reviews i had read. Connects to virtually anything with great sound quality. Have connected it to my ipod , computer (wirelessly) wifi for radio and updates with no problems at all. Highly recommend this system.
Great piece of kit that probably depends on what extras you have to link with it to get the most out of it. However its superb as a stand alone unit if all you want is internet radio & cd. I’m not a massive audiophile expert but do & always have enjoyed my music, i can only go off my own experience so here goes. It may depend on how good your internet wi-fi strength is, ours is good so all works fine. Initially it wouldn’t pair with the wi-fi when i put the password in but then connected through wps pairing which involves pressing a wps button on your router & then doing the same to the wps button on the back of the unit. Once this was done all was good and i was welcomed to the world of internet radio. Don’t worry that it hasn’t got dab as every channel including all the dab ones & then some more (a lot more) are available & out there in internet land. The selection is unbelievable & if you love your music then you’re left wanting for nothing. It has some popular / recommended stations set into it (all the bbc ones) but if there’s anything not there you can search for it by typing its name in & voila, it pops up. You can save all you’re faves. Andy kershaw surely has one. I paired my iphone 4s with it and also downloaded the remote app which works fine as an alternative remote.
Stylish, sounds good, great network features. Once you’ve unpacked this surprisingly light in weight piece of equipment from its very attractive packaging, the first thing you need to do is set it up, and this, thankfully, proved to be fairly straightforward. I’d luckily read a review that warned that the ceol is optimised by default for denon’s own speakers, so you need to delve into the menu straightaway if you’re using your own and turn that off. Well, you do that once the ceol has run through its wi-fi set up routine, which was simple, but took three attempts. Bluetooth took two attempts. Slightly annoying, but now they’re all set up, it is rock solid stable. I’m using it with bt infinity and an ipad air 2 with apple airplay. Airplay is the simplest way to connect and works beautifully with anything on your ipad, from itunes to youtube videos or even games (though the latency problem, a delay between pressing something and hearing the sound, means you probably can’t really use it for games). This means it’s also no good for garageband or similar music-making apps unfortunately; the half-second lag when you press a piano key or pluck a guitar string is off putting. I use the denon ios app too, which is good for selecting internet radio stations, but not as simple as the stylish and well laid out remote control you get in the box.
Denon CEOL Network CD Music Receiver with Wi-Fi and Ethernet Connectivity – White : Good overall, looking quite cool but a bit slow. Good overall, looking quite cool but a bit slow in response occasionally and internet radio goes off (might be the connection’s fault too).
Matches by pc so it fits in the surroundings perfectly. Could do with a few extra connections for the price but suits my needs well.
I wasn’t sure how good it would be based on the price and expected. I bought the denon rcd n9 to replace my old marantz amp. I wasn’t sure how good it would be based on the price and expected there to be some compromises. But to my surprise this is actually a really good unit, offering an exceptional quality of sound, and drives my 20 year old mission speakers beautifully. I had a few difficulties linking the unit to my wifi, but found that the denon website has excellent and easy to follow installation instructions. I use this unit in conjunction with my ipod and stream spotify through airplay. I tried the setup using bluetooth but the sound quality is definitely better through airplay. The only thing i would change is that it would be great if it was possible to link the ipod to the usb port and run spotify. If you physically link the ipod to the n9 it automatically configures to itunes and i cannot seem to change that. This unit is a lump of shiny plastic, but it still looks very neat and has a great display.
I have no issues with using spotify from. I have no issues with using spotify from my iphone and the internet radio works as expected through the app i am using a wired connection to the denon though. Overall extremely happy does everything i want better than i thought it would.
Good system but not that goood. . But not what i was expecting for the price. I bought it thinking it would be a solid bit of gear that will last years – and it likely will, but there are a few things that just didn’t put this into the same bracket as i have with other premium products i’ve bought in the same price range over the years. Positives:- the bluetooth connection is great – has worked very will with various mobiles and ipads etc. – sound quality is superb – as expected. I also purchased the denon sc-n9 speakers, no qualms with them. My disappointments:- the wifi doesn’t pick up my network very quickly, and drops regularly. I don’t have this problem with any other device and it’s located quite close to the wifi hub. The network connectivity was one of the selling points for this model – so a major disappointment.
100% satisfaction, i believe that this will continue. I wanted to buy system with integrated internet radio. My choice was the denon n9, pioneer x-hm82 or marantz m-cr610 – 611. And according to the reviews on amazon uk has become unequivocal favorite denon n9. Fulfills practically all requirements playback. It does not have a digital tuner not bother me, it replaces internet radio in quite good quality. The system i have connected in 20-year 3-way speaker aiwa, they play together very well. Wi-fi works well, i have router in another room. Home theater i have already canceled a few years ago. Am of the the opinion that the best sound is from stereo speakers. A bit nostalgically i am sorry that the traditional brands bearing the inscription made in china, not made in japan, made in uk as 80 and 90 years. Nevertheless denon n9 can only recommend. I’ve had this item just over a week now and i am very impressed by it. I am playing it through tannoy mercury 3 speakers and the sound is excellent. I have also hooked it up to a blue ray player and tv. Set up was very straightforward and everything worked as described. I am also playing my apple music through an ipod touch using airplay and it is excellent. No delay or break up of play. I have even tried the denon remote app which doesn’t get a great write up. It is a bit clunky but to be honest i am pretty impressed by the connectivity. So all in all a great piece of kit which has not disappointed.
Excellent would recommend this item and seller to anybody. Excellent would recommend this item and seller to anybody. We put tannoy mercury speakers with this item sounds amazing you would never need to buy any music.
Lovely system – but don’t expect bbc podcasts. I bought the rcdn9 to replace my old rcd m38. I was pleased to note that (using the same q acoustics speakers) the n9 delivers an improved sound over the m38. I was drawn to the n9 through a desire to get to grips with network streaming (a phenomenon new to myself). I am delighted to find that i can stream music across my home network efficiently and easily, using devices as diverse as my android phone, windows laptop and even my chromebook. It is nice to be able to rip a significant amount of your cd collection to a usb memory stick and have it rendered to you in flac format and be able to view the track information on screen. The screen itself is attractive to look at: clear and bright, albeit not in colour. The unit itself is uninspiring to look at – just a black plastic box. But it’s a neat-looking plastic box, and is unoffensive to the eye. The sound which comes out of it, however, is crisp and powerful.
