Denon DP-200USB Turntable – – Good unit, easy to use.

Ideal mid price turntable for music fans. I’m a music fan rather than a hi-fi fan. Looking at new record players i noticed many seemed too cheap and nasty (those all-in-one retro machines) or too much about the hi-fi (i. Manual cueing, pre-amps etc. ) i wanted something of decent quality but practical and convenient, and of course at a sensible price. This one fits the bill:* 1 button start and stop, soft and precise cueing action. * line out to connect into normal audio/video input of any music system. * usb recording to a usb stick. The software to edit and tag the mp3 files takes a few minutes to master, although ultimately it’s pretty straightforward. * brushed aluminium (imitation) to match my existing medium-fi. Plastic but nice build quality, belt-driven aluminium platter etc. * not too expensive, not too cheap, £150 is spot oni’m very happy with this purchase.

Compact and very easy to use. Compact and very easy to use. A switch accessed via holes in the turntable gives the option of usb recording (mp3 format) or phono playback through a separate amplifier (phono leads provided). I have had no problems in copying old albums so far. Track splitting works well using the software supplied. To copy you have to use a usb memory stick in the socket on the front of the unit – the turntable unit can’t be connected directly to the computer for copying via the usb socket. Good value for money in my opinion.

I received this item yesterday & had it up & running/recording within 10 minutes. So simple to install & record from. I can’t understand the people who have reviewed this, saying they can only record 1 item at a time, as it says, a 1gb memory stick will give you about 30 albums. The only thing, is that the database you edit to is only a cd database, so therefore, if the vinyl you have hasn’t been released on cd, you have to edit this yourself, which again, i don’t have a problem with. The recording to a usb stick is at 192 bitrate, and again this is very good. Here are the specifications for the Denon DP-200USB Turntable –:

Great service from amazon, still wary of the deck. Great service from amazon again, bought this as an upgrade on the one box system gifted me the year before to play my loft stored viynl. Have used denon several times over the years and always been very happy with the quality. This deck is compatible with my existing denon equipment and initially worked very well for almost all of the three months since purchase. Unfortunately for reasons i could not worked it no longer sent the the music from the deck to the amp, checked the amp which was fine, checked the stylus and the needle under a magnifying glass again everything appeared fine with the needle properly bedded in the cartridge. Decided to check my account and noticed that i was still within the return window which i didthis is where the amazon service kicked in excellently, i was able to return the unit and order a replacement without charge. I chose a straight replacement because of my previous history with the brand. Both the replacement and the uplift happened within two days of initial request. The deck is again working well although i notice my return window is only a month for what is new unit although hopefully this will not be needed. The deck would have been a solid four stars but for the late problem.

Excellent reproduction; the recording facility works well. The software for sorting out tracks does take a little playing around with if you don’t use the automatic setting.

Great way to archive your precious vinyl collection. I bought this denon turntable as i already have a denon compact hifi system so it seemed a logical choice. Also other usb decks i looked at didn’t have the option of using a flash drive, instead they needed a direct connection to a pc. Clear instructions are provided and i was up and running in around 15 minutes. Sound quality seems very good, nice to hear albums for the first time in something like 20 yearshowever, the first thing i noticed was that the start of my recordings were being cut off. I had read other reviews that mentioned this but it was only after reading the instructions that i realised i had to wait until the recording light was actually flashing before recording started. In my case this took around 20 seconds after pushing the record button but apparently can vary depending on the flash drive used. The software supplied took a while to get used to but seems to work well. As others have said there is no on/off indication which there should be, hence the 4* rating. All in all i think for £130 this is a decent turntable that does the job i wanted it to and does it well.

Good value for money – but wait, there seems to be a problem. Second update march 2014 – a second model of this record player also ran fast – not as bad as the first, but noticeable. I’ve sent it back and replaced with a similar priced model by sony which rotates at exactly the right speed. Update march 2014 – it plays slightly too fast so every song is in a slightly higher key, and obviously faster, than it should be. As a muso with professionally tuned instruments this is enough to be noticeable and annoying. Wrote to denon who say it can’t be adjusted so back it goes for replacement. Wonder if the replacement will be any better. Original reviewat long last i decided to get rid of my lovely but old-fashioned (and largely unused due to it being housed in a cupboard) stacking separates sytem and get something that i could plug and play with my cd and aux-only micro system – and this fits the bill perfectly. The built in phono equaliser (effectively a pre-amp) removes the need for a traditional dedicated phono input, it’s a respectable brand and it works straight out of the box.

Keep your vinyl options open. . I decided to add a usb turntable to my denon system so i can transfer my vinyl to digital. Very well made and affordable. Its easy to use and well laid out. Phono connection to your hifi(no pre-amp). Disc size and 33/45 switches on the top surface. Power, record, start, stop and usb socket on the front. You can’t record directly to your computer but its a easy two step process.

When my hi-fi finally gave up after a number of years of loyal service i found myself in dire straits as i needed a turntable to play my long list of vinyl records on. When i discovered this one on the market (i knew the manufacturer were highly thought of) i instantly snapped it up. Suffice to say it fits the bill perfectly and the sound is probably even better than that on my old hi-fi.

Brilliant really happy with it good sound.

This is a straightforward good quality turntable, which is automatic and has a simple start stop operation. It will play singles (45rpm) and lps (33rpm) giving a good authentic sound via its quality stylus. It also has the ability to record the playing record onto a usb drive, and name the record/track (editing through a computer) via the included disc. The turntable has a pair of audio leads (attached) and a main lead with a two pin plug ( there is a three pin adapter plug supplied for direct mains connection) that can be connected directly to compatible denon amps.

    1. Good looking but lightweight. . It’s a good turntable but a bit lightweight. The buttons are not firm enough and feel a bit cheap and flimsy. It looks good though and works fine.

    1. Good player, good value, good sound pleased with my choice. . I like the complete auto function, the old one this replaced had auto reject at the end put you had to lower the stylus. This means less like to scratch the disc. I would say good value for money. My lack of 5 stars really is only because nothing is perfect and it does not have a catch to secure the arm when not in sue which is useful when dusting etc and can knock the player.

Sound and build quality are excellent. Unfortunately denon continue to grapple with usability questions:-1. Two separate controls provided for disk speed and size, the latter should be determined automatically. Technics could do this, why can’t you. Manual track queuing is very tricky. When unit power switch is left on and electric turned off at the plug, the turntable will start and stylus moves to play a non-existent record when electric turned on at the plug. To finish on a positive, denon now supply a printed user manual.
