Edifier R1700BT Bookshelf Active Speakers : Works very nicely, looks good

I’ve hooked them up with a google chromecast audio & a google home and they work perfectly. Amazing clarity and power for the sound.

Wasn’t disappointed at all when i tested these out for the first time. Excellent clarity of sound, good bass, fills a normal sized bedroom or living room with rich sound and can go very loud so would work for a party. I use these for films and music etc and they are great for both. They are so good i just had to leave a review for people like me who were struggling to decide.I love a good pair of speakers and these have nailed it. Couldn’t hope for better at this price.

Fantastic speakers, rich sound, good bass, and bt is a bonus, can connect various devices to them. Excellent to watch movies or play games on pc.

If you loose the remote it’s useless. Bass gets distorted when played loudnot sure if it’s just my speakers or the brand.

Features of Edifier R1700BT Bookshelf Active Speakers with Bluetooth, RCA/AUX Input, EQ Control and Remote Control – Brown

Total Power Output of 66 Watts R.M.S = 15W x2 (treble) + 18W x2 (bass) (DRC ON)

Originally bought a monitor audio s150 after reading all the reviews but quickly returned and bought these beauties and around £30 cheaper these really do stack up and sound great, blutooth connectivity is stable and easy to use and ya can even connect via rca a phono or other devices. I recommend this and i am very critical when it comes to audio so true to say for around £100 these really fir the bill.

Lovely speakers just the right size for my bookcase perfect and the sound is very good too.

Works very nicely, looks good, good build quality. Plenty loud enough and adequate bass for a 5×3 room. Came with european plug, so needs and adaptor for swapping for uk plug.

Make sure this fits
by entering your model number.

I’m not using cds anymore, so powered speakers seemed like the best solution for saving some space. The sound is great, the bluetooth allows for streaming audio from your laptop, tablet or whatever, the fake wood finish makes them blend them nicely with the books on the shelves. The remote could be better though. It’s very small and just falls through in the various cracks of the couch + cannot control bass and treble.

Opened the box set them up great . Replacement came within days great service no arguments. Boooommmmm bass wow excellent sound quality crisp clear. I have them as far apart as possible for the stereo effect.

Bluetooth pairing capability, simply connect your phone, tablet or supported device

Dual RCA inputs for connectivity to multiple audio sources.

Class D amplifier system with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Dynamic Range Control (DRC)

  1. These have been a great purchase. Really pleased with the size and sound quality, especially in this price range. I also bought a set of the 1280 bt, which are equally impressive.

  2. Good deep bass and the bt seems to work well so far. A useful addition would have been m5 screw holes to take standard pillars to raise them from the floor.

    1. . It came with eu plug without adaptor,i love bassy, but i find it bit overpowered with mid range bass. Lil play with eq will fix it. Sound quality is light years ahead compared to my old pc speakers. Overall im pleased with the build and sound quality, good value,.

Have been thinking of upgrading my speakers on my record deck for a while now and did the obligatory review searches on the tinterweb, and these came to the top with the features and prices and looks (got the wood finish ones)as they are bluetooth i can connect my phone for amazing mp3 playbackplayed a few tracks from queen and was blown away with the quality. Have not tried them for their primary use yet (vinyl playback) but i am sure it will be as goodthe sound ranges are as good as my old sanyo hi fi centre which i had umpteen years ago, and look forward to rattling the windows at christmas timethoroughly recommended.

    1. A most superb speaker which outperforms so many more expensive ones. Incredible value, i did much research. Really realistic and live sounding music, you can truly hear the whole frequency range crystal clear. However, don’t overdo the bass as, in my opinion, it gets too boomy and drowns the mid & high-end range. But if you like a strong bass then it’s there for you, so you have the best of both worlds and the ‘over-powering’ bass is probably great for some types of music. Setting up these neat & smart looking speakers is easy, but don’t rely too much on an appalling manual which cannot properly & simply explain: hard-wire linking; the meaning of the green & blue on/off light; the importance of the remote; & more. I’ve used the speakers with my mobile using bluetooth & hard-wired them for my desktop computer. Speakers work brilliantly both ways. So happy with this purchase, so a big thank you to previous reviews which helped to persuade me.

    1. I used to work for a very prestigious hifi company and my day to day listening system is of extremely high quality (and expense. About 150x the cost of this system) i only mention this as i spent a lot of time around high end equipment and know what great sound sounds like. These are fantastic desktop speakers. If i were to be picky they are slightly boomy (which i’ve sorted with dsp) and the very top end is a bit flat but for the money they are insanely good. Really can’t fault them at all. No they aren’t “hifi” but they are extremely serviceable as desktop speakers or to have in a multi room setup where you need background sound. So much so i’ll be buying another 2 pairs for other rooms soon.

These powered bookshelf speakers are impressively loud with respectable sound quality. The initial eq settings are a little much on the bass for my personal tastes, however with a slight adjustment on the physical knob on the side (i. , -2) gives a more refined sound profile which i enjoy. Connectivity is easy, i have the 3. 5mm-audio-to-rca cable hooked up to a pc and bluetooth paired to my phone for music playback. Switching between inputs is easy using the remote. One gripe i have is that the volume is digital: although there is a physical control knob on the side for volume, it is not a potentiometer instead it changes the volume in discrete steps. This alone wouldn’t be too bad, except that whenever i switch between the input audio, the volume resets to the 50% which is louder than i usually use them at. Or indeed if i leave the room with my phone and reconnect via bluetooth, the volume reverts to 50% so i have to manually re-adjust the volume.

      1. Great quality finish, simple bluetooth, great sound so far.
    1. I have just installed these speakers, upgrading from the edifier r1280t which were good. The r1700bt are even better, with greater bass and the added useful option of bluetooth. They sound good, look good, and are the best computer speakers i’ve ever owned.

After reading all the great reviews for these, i went in with tamed but optimistic expectations. When i first took them out of the box, first impressions were great, excellent build quality on the two speakers with control dials that felt premium. After plugging them in and going to my first test track, my optimism soon faded. Listening to “soul shaker” by motion device (a great bass boom test ) at default settings (bass and treble set to 0) the opening bass guitar had absolutely no detail but a wooly bass with deafening boom that nearly popped my eardrums. So obviously the bass dial at default is set too high, right?. I turned the bass dial to 9 o’clock, tried again, and got much better results. Over the next few days of trying to get used to the sound and trying my hardest to like these speakers, there was always one thing that sicked out, that stupid bass. Sure, lowering the dial helped, but even at the lowest setting, you could still hear it booming away with no control or detail, turning it up it sounded the same, just louder and more annoying.

      1. They do not bang iv had cheaper speakers with better bass, and the bass and treble adjusters do not do much, not worth the price at all.

Even the biggest audiophile can’t fault them, especially for the price. Look great and feel well well made. Bluetooth connectivity is instant and easy, and the bass and treble controls are very handy 👌.

      1. 2.0 out of 5 stars These speakers are not the greatest. My first issue is the overhyped sounds tweeters ... says:
I am going to buck the trend here. These speakers are not the greatest. My first issue is the overhyped sounding highs. No matter what adjustments one makes with the treble, they end up sounding just too bright and overly sparkly. So much so, that you will get listening fatigue after only a few music tracks – i had to turn them off after only 2 music tracks – the highs are just too annoying and spoilt the listening pleasure of the music. These are very bass heavy out of the box – i turned down the bass the 10 o’clock position to try and get rid of the thump of the bass. This kind of smoothed out the bass, however, when the bass crosses over with mids and highs the dsp kicks in causing a weird artificial sound suppression that, for me at least, was very noticeable. These speakers promised a lot but unfortunately did not deliver on that promise.

    1. With their ports facing forward, they can easily sit on my computer desk with their backs quite near the wall without booming. The sound is surprisingly good for such small speakers. They are very solid and well made. My only criticism is of the low quality cable supplied to connect the speakers to the pc. I soon bought a higher quality cable to replace it.

    1. Best bang for buck bookshelf speakers i’ve ever bought. Bass is a bit droney by default but so easily corrected with some eq, and they go loud.
