JBL Studio 230 2-Way 6 – 300watts RMS deep bass – adds new life to those Hans Zimmer movies!

This subwoofer is just amazing, i was contemplating between a 10 inch vs. This subwoofer is just amazing, i was contemplating between a 10 inch vs 12 inch, as the living room isn’t that big and didn’t want to potentially bother neighbours, but the 12 inch did the job just fine. Plugged it in an yamaha av, ran the ypao auto-setup after i connected the sub. Balanced everything and just sounds perfect. I’m an audio enthusiast and far from understanding all details around these products. I have it set at 80hz crossover. If i have to put the review in a few words, it would be: clear and punchy, but again it all depends on the source. I hope this review is helpful.

Great sound from these speakers and i’m only running a 50amp amplifier through them. The sound fills the room( 5x7m).

300watts rms deep bass – adds new life to those hans zimmer movies. It goes seriously low, not as low as some, but for the price, it has transformed my films again. Interstellar, tron, super hero films, action movies: it hasnt clipped and thunders through our chalet lounge and dining room.:) i wanted a higher rms rating as we watch films very loud, but it has dealt witrh every volume we have thrown at it, and film and its only 3/4 volume. I added it to my harmon kardon existing surround sound that has a 8′ sub but just not enough power so on films like i have mentioned above, i have to sadly turn the bass volume down on the sub as it just cant deal with the amount of excursions thrown at it. It ( the hk sub) blatts and flutters and goes well out of sync no matter what i do with the tuning /phase knobs at the back. I would recommend this jbl unit. If you are buying a sub for a hifi, i would go for 12′ speaker cone, sealed or ported depending on your room size, and atleast an rms rating of 300 watts amplifier (minimum- more of you can). Highs: 3/5mid-range: 4/5bass: 4/5design: 5/5build quality: 5/5value for money: 4/5they look good, especially with grid on (completely discreet look) – i wanted to keep them, but i found speakers that not so good looking, but sounding better – decided to return these. Jbl 230 are great it’s just high sounds a little compressed (on specs it is saying: frequency response up to 22 khz (no info on +-db) – these days you could find speakers that can play up to 50 khz -+6db). If more lows desired it is possible to add a sub, but to add more highs there is no easy option for that. You could listen to how they sound on ‘tharbamar’ youtube channel after owning them i can say that his reviews are quite accurate:[.

Very nice speakers, solidly built, look great, great sound and the bass is impressive from non floor standing speakers.

I will only say that this is the best purchased i have made in my life, i did not excpect to getting such a great deal with this speakers. I had seen recent reviews from zeos (zreviews on youtube) about this and i went for them when i found a good used pair. By far the best choice i made in my life i would have paid double for the sonic experience amazing.

If you plan to buy expensive floorstanding speakers like the kefs and b&ws (£1600+), audition jbl first although they are very hard to find in stores.
