Logitech Pop Add-On Home Switch Starter Kit- 2 Switches and 1 Bridge – : Clever design, great addition to a bedroom Sonos setup

They do exactly as they say on the tin.

Lacking one critical feature. The logitech pop smart switches lack one critical feature – an led to confirm whether the task executed. For example, if you set a button to turn on the heating via a logitech harmony hub, there’s no immediate feedback – did it execute or did it fail due to a communications or activity error?.

Logitech Pop Add-On Home Switch Starter Kit- 2 Switches and 1 Bridge – White : They do exactly as they say on the tin.

I am reviewing the logitech pop add-on home switch starter kit- 2 switches and 1 bridge – white. Here are my thoughts:^^ what i love about this is how it is everything you need (with the exception of the bulb) to get up and running. Two switches are like light switches without the switch that sticks out, so they are basically flat squares with a raised flat circle design you can stick to the wall. ^^ to operate you press/tap the switch. ^^ quick and easy to set up and assign pops. ^^ anyone can turn the lights on and off, without the need of the app. This is good for guests and works well in a guest bedroom. ^^ this can also be combined with an existing logitech harmony hub-based remote in a similar way that amazon’s alexa works, to trigger lights, locks, blinds, and music. ^^ if you have a sonos playlist this can quickly access the stations even when your mobile is out of range.

Good but drops out too often.

Nice product, but doesn’t work with some wemo products. Nicely produced kit, though i think realistically a bit too expensive (especially as you’ll probably find yourself wanting a few. )works well with lifx, but does not support our wemo bulbs (basically if it requires the wemo hub it won’t work- but things like the wemo switch which are self contained do work). Shame, because i wanted something that would finally bring those two bits of tech together.

Probably ok, but little information found about how to. Probably ok, but little information found about how to use the damned thing. I bought it as a present for my son and he didn’t find much either.

But its not completely clear that you have to have existing smart kit (philips hue. Works well with the app on android, but its not completely clear that you have to have existing smart kit (philips hue, nest, etc) but the switches can go anywhere and can be programmed for 3 combinations of features.

This is a crowded market – i am already using hive and have tried hue, and i found this to be of a muchness with those systems in terms of ease of use. The software was good to set up and logical to use. Perhaps the design and feel of the system was a little bit beige and lacking something to set it apart from the crowd?.

Was semi sceptical about getting the pop due to the price, however i took the plunge and i am very happy 🙂 nice packaging and good build quality. I am using the included buttons for my lifx and hue setup at various points round the house where i/guests may not have there phone or tablet this works really wellonly issue i have is the additional costs of buttons seems really high and is preventing me purchasing more.

  1. Great idea, simple solution – price tag too high. I got logitech pop as a part of the offer when purchased harmony elite. A very nice concept – adds some simplicity into the home automation in a very classical form. Installation is fairly simple. It is a shame though it requires an additional gateway while i already have logitech harmony hub. It is possible to link the harmony hub with the pop gateway, but the integration is very clunky and often returns error. I would expect two related products of the same brand to work in perfect harmony – this is not the case. The switch is small and sleek – perhaps a bit too small, especially compared to standard switches. It also feels a bit cheap and not very durable when you touch it – there is a physical mechanism under a thin layer of plastic. Having said that i had no issues so far and it may be just a wrong impression.

Logitech pop makes the smart home more accessible. The logitech pop is a small button style switch which allows you to control a range of smart home devices in your house such as lights, stereos, thermostats and smart plugs. I have sonos, philips hue and wemo, plus iftt, and it communicates with these flawlessly. The system requires a bridge which is included in the starter pack and communicates with switches via bluetooth le and the cloud via wifi. As it does not need to be plugged into a router the hub can be positioned in the most central location in your house to offer broader range. The starter pack includes two white switches and additional units are available in grey, red and green (which my partner took an immediate dislike to). The switches are a little smaller than i expected – i had somehow pictured them the size of standard light switches but they are in fact less than two-thirds this size. They communicate with their hub by bluetooth le and the range is excellent and better than the wifi in my current flat – and can communicate from locations where my wifi struggles. Battery life is said to be five years and batteries user replaceable. The switches come with adhesive tape for mounting to walls which i have not yet tried.
