MINIX NEO U1 – Minix Product Support (Lacking).

Doesn’t get any better than this. This streaming media player is an extremely high quality product and i love it, i’ve had a few cheapo chinese’s boxes but got fed up with poor quality and reliability. Spec summarylatest amlogic s905 processor2gb ram and 16gb fast emmc flashhdmi 2. 2 supporting 10 bit 4k ultratv at 60 frames/sec7. 1 channel hd audiobluetooth 4. 12×2 mimi (basically uses an internal and external antenna to provide a fantastic wi-fi reception, i’m getting 30mbs download in my bedroom, a long way from the router)it also has faultless ota (over the air) updates meaning the box is always up to date. Updating other boxes us a messy, painful, technical nightmare, i know, i’ve there many times. The software is excellent, everything works extremely well and it never lags, it’s very snappy. There is a choice of launchers when you login and other custom software making the whole media experience so much better. I purchased the standard wireless keyboard and it works great, on refection, wish i’d got the minix one as mine is too noisy/clicky in bed at night. Overall, this box is awesome, you do have to pay a little more, but over 2 year period, it’s nothing for peace of mind, proper support and a flagship product.

You get pretty full access to google play. I bought this to replace an aged wd tv (not ‘live’), which was challenged by the lack of network access, and as a result no i-player or all 4. It does need a dedicated keyboard/mouse as it is more of a media pc rather than a media streamer, although it does function very well as both. Bluetooth shares an antenna with the wifi, so streaming from a nas with a local bt speaker is a non-event. The various file system interfaces are clunky without a keyboard, and navigating a video/music collection is challenging. Further drawback is the inability to access it from a pc network without rooting it, which challenges firmware updates, but you can access a pc network from the box, which is a help for manipulating files. You get pretty full access to google play, with all it’s apps, browsers included, which is a very welcome bonus.

————————————————————————————introductionthis is the second android media tv box i have reviewed from minix and i most say they never fail to impress me. The neo u1 really does push the boundaries for android tv boxes. This media hub has some very impressive components. You have a very powerful quad core cortex a53 cpu which is very powerful for a small device like this and is top of the range. It also has a penta core mali-450 gpu which is once again very powerful for such a small device. You also have 16gb internal storage as well as wireless connectivity which is almost expected with every android tv box you can buy nowadays. Also you have 3 usb ports as well as an micro sd card reader so you have upgrade the storage of this system. This is now my main android tv box and its great for streaming any of your favourite tv shows or films with great quality. Also having usb ports means you can watch your favourite films or tv shows that you may have stored on that usb stick————————————————————————————features & positivesamazing ultra hd streaming media hub – ultimate home entertainment media hubultra-connectivity – 802. Best android box available in my opinion outstanding quality in every way.

Minix =speedy reliable android media box. This is my second minix media box having previously owned the x-h8 which i gave to parents as wanted a upgrade and i am pleased to say as with previous box it is excellent ,nice user interface ,lightning quick ,ota upgrades and great support if needed ,must admit i prefer the gyroscope remote that was with previous box but there’s still no probs with 1 supplied just a personal preference and there is an option of an a2 lite remote which i may get at later date, the on off blue light is much better on the u1 and more visible ,not tried over wifi as i use ethernet on normal broadband and works like a dream ,no buffering, some cheaper boxes out there but if you want quality build that lasts, easy to navigate ,speedy interface then look no further you won’t be disappointed 5*****.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Doesn’t get any better than this
  • You get pretty full access to Google Play
  • Minix =speedy reliable android media box

Easy to set up, plays kodi out if the box.

Very good little box – no complaints so far.

Fast and very versatile and so easy to use. The second best android box on the market.

A powerful android box which easily competes with the nvidia shield. Great for streaming and 3d gaming. 🔴 i was given this product by the seller to review, so i can leave you with a honest and unbiased review. 🔴🔵 in the box:- minix neo u1- dual-band antenna- minix ir-remote control – needs two aaa batteries (not included)- hdmi cable- power adapter- micro-usb cable- otg cable- instruction manual🔵 features:- cpu: 2. 0ghz quad-core arm amlogic s905 64-bit- graphics card: penta-core mali450 650mhz gpu- ram: 2gb ddr3- storage: 16gb emmc flash storage – available 11. 4ghz 5ghz – 2×2 mimo- ethernet: gigabit port- bluetooth: 4. 1- storage expansion: sd card – support up to 128gb- usb ports: three usb 2. 0 ports – micro-usb otg port- audio: headphone jack – microphone jack – optical audio- hdmi: hdmi 2.

Minix product support (lacking). . Good product sadly let down by total lack of minix technical support – who do not acknowledge or attempt to advise with product problem -(no audio headset or bluetooth output) discovered latterly when trying to use bluetooth headset(s).

Very good little box – no complaints so far.

Get this minix neo u1 64-bit quad-core box . I’ve had a few android boxes for kodi / spmc use but, this minix neo u1 64 bit android box is, by far, the best. The most reliable, faff-free gadget i have in service. Would benefit from, at least, one usb 3.

With all due respect to the wachowski brothers (sisters?) and keanu reeves, this neo is the one. I’ve reviewed literally dozens of android tv boxes and owned even more. I’ve run the cheapest little plastic boxes ebay had to offer and spent a year of my life with the nvidia shield and at least some time with every conceivable media streamer in between. This is the best bang for the buck i’ve ever owned when it comes to streaming media players of the android variety. The minix neo u1 boasts first-class build quality, with heavy plastics and great fit and finish. It’s really a large step above most android boxes and feels every bit as solid as a piece of high-end electronics should. The neo u1 has the amlogic 905 soc, 2 gb of ram and 16 gb of internal storage. I know, it doesn’t sound like the specs you get with the latest crop of tv boxes, but it’s not about sheer brawn. It’s about how you implement it. Just like two pcs with identical specs can offer completely different user experiences, so it is with android tv boxes. I run the antutu benchmark app on every box i review because, while other apps will tell you what you processor is capable of, how fast you ram is, etc.

I would recommend you but it with the keyboard remote. I will be buying one as it can be stressful using the remote to input info such as usernames and passwords.

    1. Love this box, everything seems to run smoothly. Wifi works easily without ethernet being needed and streaming is very smooth. The sleep mode is a nice feature which other boxes don’t seem to have and remote ok.

I have a few of these boxes around my house. Wouldn’t have any other android box.
      1. Good product, only for a small screen. . I had no issues with it bar it’s inability to play back multi-channel sound via the plex app. Wether or not this is down to the device or the application is irrelevant, it doesn’t work on minix. You can ‘work around’ the issue by forcing plex to playback via kodi but that is very messy. My second gripe is the interface: it’s not really tuned for the larger screen. This is due to the version of android it uses which is at best more appropriate for tablets.

this is the first minix product i have tried and after reading a little about them before i received it, my expectations were high. I can wholeheartedly say that this did meet and exceed these high expectationsi have used and reviewed many android boxes before ranging from between £20-60 and they are all pretty similar with no obvious reason for the price differences. A lot of them are really similar and probably just rebranded versions of each other. The minix however is a brand of its own with a unique design and a high quality build. With 2gb ddr3 ram and quad core arm cortex a53 the system seems to handle everything with ease, no freezing and no lagging. The 16gb emmc memory is a massive improvement on 8gb which is not usually enough yet still shipped with most products. Its power allows 4k playback with ease. My first thoughts on using the device was just how smooth and responsive it was to my commands. The minix launcher provides easy access to your apps and gives a whole new look to the android 5.

    1. Best android tv box i used to date. There are plenty of these boxes at the market today and they all look similar. This one however, is very different from the rest. I am going to be talking about the minix neo which looks to be beating the rest of the competition out there. •what is in the box?you will get the android tv box it self which is inside a nice paper sheet to protect it (you can see it on my photos)a uk power cable which plugs into the box to the wall outlethdmi cable which is a great addition to havea remote (it does not include 2 aaa batteries, so you will need to supply that your self)antenamanualmicro usb cable•packagingi was very impressed with minix on this part. They have really made your experience top notch. The packaging is second to none and the box provides a lot of information about the tv box just to remind you of what the box is capable of. •setting it upit is simple to setup the tv box, just take the box out, place it on a table and plug in the hdmi cable and power cable to the tv and wall outlet and you are more less ready to go. Take out the remove and you can easily purchase aaa batteries from pound land which is priced at we guessed it “£1”. I did take awhile to download a few of my apps and setting it up to my taste and this will different for some as they want to install their own apps and they are different to mine.
