Panasonic Smart VIERA TX-P42GT30B 42-inch Full HD 1080p 3D 600Hz Internet-Ready Plasma TV : Five star TV, that deserves six

This is my 2nd panasonic plasma and i have to say it can be truly incredibly great. Image high-quality is fantastic on superior def resources and quite good on typical def. I would attempted a samsung led panel just before opting for the gt30 and the variation couldn’t be additional apparent. The gt30 provides cinema top quality images. Outstanding assortment of connections on the again despite the fact that the hdmi connectors are vertical so you may well want to spend in some appropriate angled hdmi cables if you you should not want loads of things protruding from the rear. Has created in freeview hd (operates good) and freesat receiver as well (also performs good). Epg for both equally is a small unattractive but functional. Also supports playback from usb and hdd and recording to hdd immediate from broadcast which is rather nice. 3d playback is also rather fantastic although i have only had minimal use of this so considerably. Definitely the independent assessments online for it really is 3d efficiency amount it really highly. Also capabilities viera solid (now termed connect i consider) which has an ‘app’ portal for the tv (if you have a wired cat5 network relationship – or the wifi dongle – this has to be purchased separately while). Performs fine and has matters like iplayer, despite the fact that i would say that the samsung has the edge with it truly is smart tv implementation which experienced extra apps (such as lovefilm). Monitor reflection has been an issue on some more mature plasmas but i am happy to report the coatings on this tv necessarily mean this is held to a bare minimum amount. Some persons have complained about concerns with brightness regulate. I will not look to be suffering any main troubles but it is really absolutely been reported elsewhere (search for fbr and panasonic on google). The only other detail of slight annoyance is enthusiast sound. There _are_ some small lovers which are utilised for cooling which can be audible quite at times. If this is something you think could bother you i might propose demoing a single of these in a silent surroundings to see if you assume it would be an issue.

I have no hesitation in awarding this tv 5 stars and would highly endorse it to any person who was in the sector to obtain an great 46′ screened tv with all it can be bells and whistles. Freeview and freesat broadcasts are great whilst blu-ray is wonderful. I can not discuss for the world-wide-web relationship or 3d at current, owing to absence of tools, but i have no question their perfomances will be just as amazing when i finally get spherical to working with them.

I by now experienced a panasonic tv with inbuilt freesat but it was 32′ so preferred to update and gave the other a single to my son just before we went digital in the south-east. We are really pleased with our new invest in and the price tag paid was exceedingly superior price. Paid out for future working day shipping right before 1pm but metropolis hyperlink failed to supply on time-on speaking to amazon the courier cost was refunded straight away.

Aside from that it’s faultless. Wonderful photo, specifically in 3d. Cannot say any a lot more than what has already been explained in preceding testimonials. Edit 27/10/11the enthusiast sound is now receiving louder, and there is also a buzzing sound coming from the again of the set. I am seriously considering returning it as it is really noticable even over average tv quantity. There is also a trouble with fbr (fluctuating brightness). There is an update out there which (is claimed) to clear up the challenge and i will obtain out later on when i down load it, even so there continues to be the concern with the sound. Not impressededit 09/11/11updated and fbr is gone.

Extremely pleased with the tv but i am not going to evaluation it – there are a lot of other assessments that will convey to you accurately how good it is. I am writing this review to give a big thumbs up for amazon’s supply support. I positioned the order at shut to midnight on a friday and the tv was sent the pursuing monday at eight am. This was with the totally free tremendous saver delivery option. Really delighted with the provider, thank you amazon.

Panasonic Smart VIERA TX-P42GT30B 42-inch Full HD 1080p 3D 600Hz Internet-Ready Plasma TV with Freeview HD and Freesat HD (Installation Recommended) (discontinued by manufacturer) : Wow, what a difference this tv makes, upgrading from a 10 year old sony wega 32″ crt. The tv was easy to setup, with panasonic providing all the things you need, such as batteries for the remote, except hmdi cables which these days no ones gives. The sd upscaling is the best i have seen, so if you have sd content you still want to view, this tv will make it a pleasure to viewthis tv has very good reviews from tv review websites and magazines. Highly recommended and a great price.

I recently purchased this tx-p50st50b smart viera 50 inch plasma tv and its the most effective tv i have at any time noticed(considerably better than any lg or samsung product)i compensated £1100 but it was worth it as i had a absolutely free five calendar year panasonic guarantee with the tv obtained. I experimented with the 3d very first to see how very clear and sharp the photograph is and it was awsome-i employed my ps3 to enjoy my 3d motion picture but i intend to get myself a panasonic 3d bluray participant. (i have just ordered the dmp-bdt120 3d bluray participant for only £139. )i have a sony bluray player and attempted my bluray films on it and i was not disapointed with the image qaulity. And i was stunned with the sound-the speakers audio awesome when you look at a bluray disc, the greatest seem i have at any time listened to from a tv(i experienced this tv shipped and set up free by radiocraft in cardiff as part of the purchase and i was not disapointed with the set up-excellant purchaser provider from radiocraft)i experienced a lg forty two inch liquid crystal display full hd tv and this panasonic is a much better tv-i have put my aged lg tv in my bedroom, and everytime i opt for to observe tv on my panasonic i speedily observe the improved picture and sound top quality-i believe that now that panasonic are the greatest for tvs and plasma and i will adhere to buying just panasonic from now on. (i will by no means buy a korean make ever once again,i. Lg or samsung)you get what you spend for and this smart tv is the finest tv i have at any time viewed. I extremely recccomend this design. Eevn if you previously have a lg or samsung.

Having obtained a lemon in the sort of the st31b, (overview posted) i upgraded to the gt30b. Original impressions ended up superior. The tv has a good chrome trim about the screen which you would assume is distracting but is not in reality. It also has a extremely nice jet black bezel which fades into a gun steel gray around the panasonic symbol bottom centre. It seriously is a extremely pleasant effect. Its a good seeking tv and very skinny for a plasma way too. Connections are on the back again left hand side and deal with still left. Some say the connections are as well around the edge generating cabling noticeable but this is not an problem i have found. Connections consist of three usb ports & four hdmi ports, a absolutely free sat relationship, practical if your cable tv or sky box fails, a scart connector, an rca input, ingredient enter (y, pb, pr) and an rf connection way too. A lan connector is also presented for a cable or wi-fi dongle to take advantage of viera connect as nicely as firmware updates.

Have to say first that i am incredibly impressed with amazon, i ordered this on the saturday night at about twenty:thirty and it was despatched on sunday, shipped on monday with no cost shipping. The special offer on defeat the other sellers i was hunting at to buy this tv, so with the funds i saved can now buy a respectable stand for the tv. Set up of the tv was straightforward and i could not believe that how gentle it is, this is my 1st flat panel tv so am simply impressed. If i have one criticism it is that the connections on the again for the ethernet and satellite connectors look a tiny restricted, i experienced to bend my community cable at pretty an angle to get it to healthy in the alcove in which the connector is. If you have a more compact rubber molded ethernet connector this may not be an difficulty. With the sky connector i identified it irritating trying to screw the socket on, this may perhaps be a lot easier with smaller sized fingers. Quite minimal criticisms but considered i would point out it. Vehicle set up was carried out in about 5 minutes, i then had to go onto viera cast to see what that was all about and was greeted with a ‘new computer software readily available would you like to update?’. Following looking through some assessments about firmware updates repairing concerns i thought i would get this finished now and get it out the way. I have a 30mb connection and the update took a great five – seven minutes to finish, from 1210 to 1218.

My very first plasma monitor and what a terrific image – i won’t be able to fault it while i have still to test 3d. The established-up was the simplest of any electronic equipment i have at any time applied – such as so-known as plug & enjoy. At the moment i have connected an adsl modem/router via ethernet cable, a panasonic bluray player, panasonic dmp-bdt110eb 3d blu-ray disc participant with skype & viera cast seagate 1tb challenging disk via usb seagate freeagent goflex 2tb desktop usb two. external really hard travel with ability gauge and a humax freesat boxhumax foxsat hdr 500gb freesat hd satellite receiver and digital tv recorder. Completely hassle absolutely free set up – i was genuinely stunned (or really lucky?). Update of system firmware pretty much invisible and necessitates least consumer intervention. Comments by some reviewers about buzzing and supporter sounds most likely utilize to before illustrations – mine is silent. Idea: (fwiw) i normally photograph the back of gadgets with a number of connections prior to i set up it then if i need to insert or alter a connection i can seem at the photo and know precisely wherever i am likely. Really happy with this tv – i will update my assessment if/when essential.

We are pleased with the general performance of the two viera televisions we acquired final thirty day period and i would be joyful to propose them to any individual considering of buying a plasma tv with both freeview hd and freestat hd.

This is a fantastic tv, even if you do not use all of its features. The photograph is superb and it is quick the two to set up and to use. The only draw back is that the 3d goggles are an high-priced addition, as is the wifi dongle to connect to your mac or computer. Even so, you can continue to delight in a really substantial excellent solution without them. Try to remember that with its crafted-in hd freeview you can dispense with your sky+ box and use an exterior tough push, but the freeview hd channels are minimal in quantity so there is a sizeable draw back to carrying out that.

I pretty substantially wished to like this tv. The photo good quality was fantastic and had really excellent black concentrations. Sadly on any dazzling scene there was a very annoying flicker. A handful of family and mates also observed this. I have go through that panasonics are acknowledged for flicker and mainly you possibly see it or you dont. It was to much for me however so had to return it.

I bought this tv soon after sending again a lg led tv(lm660t) which i wasnt happy with. This experienced a tv of the calendar year award and i listened to plasma’s the place the ideal for movement and i view a hell of a ton of sports so i went for it. A number of months afterwards and i haven’t got any faults. Im nevertheless impressed by the photograph quality and its nevertheless the most effective tv i have at any time found. It looks definitely great too.

Despite the fact that the packaging was smashed to smitherines the tv appears to have servived undamaged. The harm i beleive was due to the provider insisting it really is driver taken care of this large tv single handed. As with all the panasonic gear i have seasoned this tv is incredibly excellent in truth. Handles common pictures incredibly effectively and has excellent 3d and hd.

I would say this is the greatest tv i have acquired wonderful photograph and audio also appears to be excellent quick set up i would propose this tv any just one.

I did a whole lot of analysis right before shopping for this tv. I also read through the testimonials on below which did not truly support. I appreciate the tv but have only specified it 4 stars as the manual is just not that crystal clear and i am not a techie. Obtaining said that, the photograph high quality is exceptional, the audio very good and it looks good. I am going to improve the evaluate to a 5 i imagine.

Cinema quqlity with flawless end result evaluate to any liquid crystal display or led. Fail to remember about the other tvs, trust me, this is the a person you want.

Following paying out weeks searching for the right tv for my desires i finally settled on this 1 and what a tv it is. 42′ flat monitor that rivals any of the leds out there. I purchased this tv to go in my bedroom, specially for viewing films on at the weekend. I required a cinema working experience & i really feel i have received it. The clarity of the picture was incredible. I tried out the freeview hd channels just to have a look and wow i felt like i was there, not watching it as a result of my tv. The detail revealed was great, i could see individual hairs, waves crashing and blades of grass – (compact points i know, but i was amazed). I have only attempted one 3d movie so far and that was ocean wonderland. The 3d outcomes on some scenes had been awe inspiring but other folks not so a great deal – i are unable to comment on it getting fault with the tv or the dvd but i was still incredibly impressed and the 3d consequences that had been great had been in simple fact terrific.

Other individuals have written really superior complex critiques which i used to make up my brain and i’m not technically competant sufficient to add to the specialized niceities outside of a comment beneath on sound. For me this tv is totally spectacular and superb worth for money – i’ve observed the vt and there is no difference in picture high quality for the extra £500. My old tv was a samsung 40′ plasma that was hd prepared, the picture on that was fantastic but this is a quantum leap forward. Colors are fantastic and the depth of the black field is astounding. 3d is eminently watchable, though you actually have to have one. 4a hdmi cables to get the finest out of it. My only criticism is sound excellent which appears to be to be the sacrifice you pay back as sets get thinner (and for a plasma this is skinny). Why they just don’t do away with even attempting to place speakers in a tv and have the speakers in a seperate soundbar may well be a problem that makers will need to be asked i’m thinking my upcoming obtain is very likely to be a soundbar. Its not that the sound is negative, its just not great. Usually this truly is a superb tv and 1 i would wholeheartedly advocate.

The picture high quality, the most important aspect for me, is absolutely superb. It really is the best sized set for our living home and the image is excellent from all angles. I have it connected to a panasonic blu ray / household cinema unit and the integration is perfect. 3d performs properly, but i’m however not confident regardless of whether it is really a gimmick or not.

And i have not even witnessed the 3d. The motive i am crafting this critique, tho, is that some, like me, may well also want to use it to display screen images from their computer. I use it in my work, as it is a convenient way to display pictures and info for my shoppers to check out. I have an more mature model viera, 37′, and when i hooked my personal computer up to it through hdmi, no issue. The computer system display screen was replicated on the tv instantly. But when i hooked this model to the pc, i did get an impression. It was of a aspect only of the desktop background.

Very good tv; all that they say about it is true. However i bought one back in 2010 for £1200 brand new, so it’s a bit of a cheek asking £1555 for a second-hand one five years after they stop making it and it’s been replaced by newer, technologically wise, models at much cheaper prices since. Technology get cheaper as it is developed.

    1. After 3 months working fine the screen developed a yellow/blue stripe. To get this rectified by seller km essentials was a nightmare. Buck-passing and misinformation seems to sum it up. Amazon could not help with a refund or replacement. T (southern) ltd (recommended by km essentials) returned my tv ostensibly repaired but in a real mess with the bezel with small friction scratches and terribly mis-seated. They eventually reseated it after more tall-stories about screen pressure build-up and the like. The level of workmanship and customer care very poor.

You are probably reading this because you are interested in a great tv. And most aspects of this tv are great – but i have to draw attention to one that really lets it down- the fan at the back of the tv that cools the components is loud. If you put the tv up to quarter to a third volume and people talk – you can’t hear it – as soon as they stop talking you can hear it. And to put a perspective on this i previously owned a 20b (last years model) – there is no comparison – this is quiet – my sony ps3 with blueray in it is way louder – this gt30b drowns out the ps3 by a long shot. All plasmas have a very small hum if you appoach them and are half a metre away. The fan noise could be heard metres away. I phoned panasonic technical support to report and fault and was told the fan noise was normal on all large plasmas (no so the 2010 models). I then pressed and got hold of third party engineers. They explained that the fans have been changed to smaller fans to make the plasma set thinner – these smaller fans have a higher pitch whirring noise that for me is definetely a distraction. Panasonic – if you are listening – i’d rather have a thicker set and much less “whirring” noise.

I bought this tv after sending back a lg led tv(lm660t) which i wasnt happy with. This had a tv of the year award and i heard plasma’s where the best for motion and i watch a hell of a lot of sports so i went for it. A few months later and i haven’t got any faults. Im still amazed by the picture quality and its still the best tv i’ve ever seen. It looks absolutely awesome too.

I very much wanted to like this tv. The picture quality was good and had very good black levels. Unfortunately on any bright scene there was a very annoying flicker. 1. Title says it alli have had a number of panasonic plasma’s over the years and they keep getting better. I have run this for nearly 200 hours and the picture is the business. Gaming and hd images are stunning, blu rays in thx mode are impressive. Infact, what ever you are watching this tv makes the best of everything. 3d is excellent when watching stereoscopic inputs but the 3d conversion isn’t all that. Out of the box the picture is good but trust me, it gets better. Worth mentioning that the fan noise and plasma buzz does reduce after about 100 hours. . 3x usb’s, sd card, ethernet, wireless, 4x hdmi, digital out and the list goes on. Most files play from usb or sd card, even hdplug a hdd and pause and record tv.

And i haven’t even seen the 3d. The reason i am writing this review, tho, is that some, like me, might also want to use it to display images from their pc. I use it in my work, as it is a convenient way to display images and information for my clients to view. I have an older model viera, 37″, and when i hooked my pc up to it via hdmi, no problem. The computer display was replicated on the tv automatically. But when i hooked this model to the pc, i did get an image. It was of a part only of the desktop background.

      1. This tv was perhaps the best buy i’ve made in a long time, probably since my sony pvr a few years ago. Buying from amazon made the tv cheaper by about £200 compared to other outlets, however the downside was the warranty (or lack of) which compared to jlewis, was perhaps the only bug-bear. Anyway, back to the tv (which i got with the panasonic blu-ray and 3d glasses package) which i must say has perhaps the best hi-def picture i’ve seen in a long time – based on my excursions into hmv and blockbuster where they have pittiful hd tvs playing in the background. Cue a small chuckle of satisfaction at splashing out the cash on the gt30overall, great features, the only real down side being the viera connect, which is getting better. In this context i’d get the net gear usb (also available on amazon) as there is absolurley no need to go for the overpriced price panasonic version – don’t be a suckerthe 3d is however fantastic, especially with bespoke 3d films like hugo and avatar (the latter which was free with the tv), as well as the star wars box set which was free with the dvd player – ca-ching. Anyway, while the more miserable members of my friends and family (small minority) said the glasses hurt their eyes, they’re actually really comfy and do the job suprisingly well – also being rechargable (plugging straight into the telly) while not in use/ whenever you need to try them. One thing i haven’t managed to do is to utilise the free-sat/ freeview hd as these services aren’t yet available in the distant land of north yorkshire, just yet. I will however be ranting about my tv even more (to the annoyance of my mates) once i’ve ticked this box, as i’m sure the gt30 will look excellentwhile some goofs might complain about the sound, it was pretty obvious that most people willing to invest in a tv of this price range are also – as well as being imagephiles – more likely to be audiophiles, and therefore possess the necessary equipment to plug this baby into. As a flat screen tv, the ability to make something that slim also pump out a fantastic bass sound was always going to be limited without cluttering its streamlined appearance; hence why mine’s plugged into my 1980’s bang and olufsen beocentre – ok perhaps not surround sound, but excellent allround performance nonetheless. Another common complaint is the noise the cooling fans supposedly emmits while the tv’s in operarion. I haven’t actually noticed this myself, even during more quiet late night/ early morning viewing and so wouldn’t worry about this – i. Its not like a early noughties desk-top gaming pc extractor fan by any meansin terms of connectivity, the tv perhaps can perhaps take some criticism, with the main hdmi and usb connectors located to the left hand side of the unit, where the wires tend to stick out and perhaps look a bit too prominant. I haven’t actually however put any effort into trying to tidy this up yet, so it can probably be overcome with a bit of clever cable tying etc.

Very pleased with the tv but i’m not going to review it – there are plenty of other reviews that will tell you exactly how good it is. I’m writing this review to give a big thumbs up for amazon’s delivery service. I placed the order at close to midnight on a friday and the tv was delivered the following monday at 8 am. This was with the free super saver delivery option. Very pleased with the service, thank you amazon.

      1. I recently purchased this tx-p50st50b smart viera 50 inch plasma tv and its the best tv i have ever seen(far better than any lg or samsung model)i paid £1100 but it was worth it as i had a free 5 year panasonic warranty with the tv purchased. I tried the 3d first to see how clear and sharp the picture is and it was awsome-i used my ps3 to play my 3d movie but i intend to get myself a panasonic 3d bluray player. (i have just ordered the dmp-bdt120 3d bluray player for only £139. )i have a sony bluray player and tried my bluray films on it and i was not disapointed with the picture qaulity. And i was amazed with the sound-the speakers sound amazing when you watch a bluray disc, the best sound i have ever heard from a tv(i had this tv delivered and installed free by radiocraft in cardiff as part of the purchase and i wasn’t disapointed with the set up-excellant customer service from radiocraft)i had a lg 42 inch lcd full hd tv and this panasonic is a far better tv-i have put my old lg tv in my bedroom, and everytime i choose to watch tv on my panasonic i quickly notice the improved picture and sound quality-i believe now that panasonic are the best for tvs and plasma and i will stick to purchasing just panasonic from now on. (i will never purchase a korean make ever again,i. Lg or samsung)you get what you pay for and this smart tv is the best tv i have ever seen. I highly recccomend this model. Eevn if you already have a lg or samsung.

Brilliant picture and sound quality, especially with hd facility. 42″ screen makes viewing such a difference in my room only wish i changed earlier. No complaints with the service from a panasonic product.

This was an upgrade from a panny v10 plasma and all i can say is ‘oh yeah’. This tv is is spot on and kicks the [email protected] out of lcd. My only gripe would be the power consumption, as plasmas run quite warm compared to led lit lcd. But i think it’s well worth it for the improvement in picture quality and lower purchase cost.

      1. I already had a panasonic tv with inbuilt freesat but it was 32″ so wanted to upgrade and gave the other one to my son before we went digital in the south-east. We are very pleased with our new purchase and the price paid was exceedingly good value. Paid for next day delivery before 1pm but city link failed to deliver on time-on contacting amazon the courier charge was refunded immediately.

Once again panasonic have made a first class product and at a great price thanks to amazon this is the 3rd pan tv i have purchased, firstly a v20b 50″ for our lounge, a v20b 42″ for our bedroom and now a 42″ gt30b for my parents, i did my homework before deciding on this set for them, it was basically between this one and the more expensive vt series but after much thought we decided to go for the gt as they wernt interested in wearing 3d glasses. But these can be bought latter if required. The tv was great straight out the box sound is as good as my v20’s even though the gt is nearly half the thickness. Picture quality watching sky f1 hd is awsome, has all the usual connections in the side for sd card, usb stick etc. They are borrowing one of my dongles for accesssing youtube on the vierra connect which is also very good, connect or cast as it used to be called is slightly limited but its ok, if we want to use the internet properly weil use the pc. I would definitly recommend this set without a doubt.

      1. Pros: compact, exceeded expectations, stunning picture, depth of field, amazing colourcons: tilts forward on stand?, avatar 3d promo overthis tv is simply stunning. The detail, colour & depth of field is unbelievable. I am so impressed by this tv. It’s not only the best tv i’ve owned but is probably the best product i’ve bought everit’s great out of the box but with some tweaking it’s even more rewarding. Even sd sources can look great. Sky hd can be breathtaking, almost like being there. 2d blu ray is detailed & engaging, with cinematic colour fidelity. There’s not even a suggestion of judder on pans. The depth of field already looks like it might be 3d. Actual 3d, especially from blu ray, is everything you could wish for, with no crosstalk.

    1. Like other reviewers here i spent a lot of time comparing plasma’s with led-lcd’s, and reading reviews, before i bought this tv. And to be honest you get superb tvs now if you are prepared to spend a bit more, so making a decision wasn’t easy, (there are no ‘perfect’ tvs). After side by side comparison of this tv with mainly the samsung d8000, and playing with settings of both tvs, my conclusion was that this plasma tv has the most natural picture and resolves fast movement the best. I have had this tv for 1 month now and i am still struck daily by the quality of picture, even though so far i am just watching hd feeview and upscaled dvd’s. The picture quality is stunning. So i am really looking forward to watching blueray and 3d soon. My advice is to spend time reading reviews but most importantly do some side by side comparisons. At the end of the day it should be your personal preference. There is plenty of contradicting `science’ and people with `opinions’.

    1. I thought long and hard and read every review that i could find before deciding that this was the tv for me. When it came up as a ‘lightning deal’ i could no longer resist and made the purchase. Suffice to say that it has lived up to and a little beyond expectation. Hd will not be available in my area for another three months but even without it the freeview picture quality is fantastic. It’s too soon to comment objectively on the 3d especially as in my opinion it is far too expensive to subscribe to a 3d tv sky satellite package. However, if future blu-ray offerings are to be as good as avatar and the prices drop, then it is a worthwhile investment. The only thing i can criticise about the tv is that there is no sound or ‘picture in picture’ when using the guide. Delivery was swift, in fact a day earlier than expected, but it was left with a neighbour. The product was bought as part of a package including a 3d blu-ray player and 3d active shutter glasses, each item delivered separately. For reasons best known to to amazon’s invoicing department but totally confusing to myself and three different amazon cr representatives, the invoices made no sense although the total price charged was correct.

  27. I so wanted this to be a glowing report for my first plasma. Hours and hours of research had led me to believe that as far as mid/high end tv’s go, they dont come much better than this. The panny had earned glowing reviews for it’s excellent 2d and 3d pictures, super smooth motion and excellent static contrast ratio. Coming from a 2 year old high-end samsung led i was expecting to be blown away. I watch a lot of live sports action and the tv handles football games without noticeable blur and golf without those nasty flickering ‘halo’s’ when the ball is contrast against scenery. Blu ray (60hz) material looks fantastic and as a standalone home cinema i doubt anyone would be disappointed with the resultssmart internet functions are also a first for me and the panny automatically synchronised with my pc through an ethernet connection. All smart features seemed very intuitive and integrated well into the tv’s operation. The tv is actually very slim appearing, from the side at least, like a slightly bloated led. Plus the build quality is top notchnow for the not so good. . The tv’s excellent contrast ratio appears to be almost entirely down to its lower end performance. Blacks are, naturally, deep and screen uniformity is perfect. But (and its a significant but) the screen really struggles to portray brighter colours, especially whites. What this transpires to is a murky looking picture that fails to captivate.

    1. Out of the box, very disappointing picture. This set comes into its own for films, especially in the dark with wonderful blacks. Got `best buy’ from france usa and uk. I do not have the mentioned noise or fluctuating brightness problems of others. I was worried about the reported green tinge, but it doesn’t have that either. You must take the time to set the picture to the source, i. Blue ray player picture to thx; tv to `normal’or ???.Your choice but this make all the difference.

    1. I bought this tv along with 3d blu ray player in the boxing day sale. They have replaced an 8 year old 37″ panasonic vierra set (not hd) and the difference is amazing. I was always impressed with the picture quality of the old plasma set but the new one is amazingand the whole set up only cost a third of the price of the old tv. Hd is great but the 3d is out of this world. The tv and blue ray arrived in a couple of days, but i was told the glasses would not arrive for 2 months, they came in just about 2 weeks. I have no complaints whatsoever with the tv and amazon as always delivered in double quick time and at a priceno one else could get close to.

Bought this as an upgrade to my 42 inch panasonic plasma, which for picture quality, entertainment and enjoyment has been outstanding. I’ve waited and waited to get this model (rather than the 50vt30b which differs only by the sound system and some epg functionality)until the deal via amazon was too good to miss. Tv, 3d blu-ray player, glasses (2)for £1100. Bargaini’ll list the issue first. Not amazons fault, but the carrier was xxap. Lost () the first tv, and having dealt with them before regarding other goods ‘gone missing’, to be honest, i wasn’t really surprised. After a call to amazon’s help line, another was dispatched with no fuss, and arrived just in time for christmas. Nb the other items had already been delivered. Seems like expensive or desirable goods end up in a black hole, and that’s the comments from the carriers own help desknow to the goods, it’s fairly easy to set up, quite a lot of connections for blu-ray player, sound system, sky and internet. Once you get that lot sorted, sit back and enjoy.

I bought this tv, 3d glasses and 3d blu ray player as part of christmas/new year sale. The setup has fabulous 3d and hd images,i have used used freeview and freesat inputs and both give excellent results, but i have to say it is the 3d from the blu ray that is jaw dropping. A great tv and part of a great bargain deal, at a price that was less than the tv on its own after the sale had finished.

First things first, this tv is stunning. I have only had it set up for a day so far, and it is a beauty. Picture, although not completely tweaked is very good on sd, and on hd it’s crisp and clear. I understand that plasma’s need at least 100 hours or so to completely settle in and also to reduce the so called ‘burn in’ affect. So my contrast and brightness are turned down somewhat, but this hasn’t reduced the quality by much at all. If anything, and as soon as i can play with the picture quality again, the final results could be quite scaryreading some of the earlier reviews it’s been suggested there have been problems with green blobs and flickering. However, and i could be either lucky or it might be because panasonic have solved these issues with later produced tv’s with updated firmware (if that was the answer?) but my tv isn’t suffering at all. I can’t review the 3d option just yet, but if that’s as good as what i hear, then i’m looking forward to it. The plan is to set it up with a 3d blu-ray player eventually, but i’m happy with what i got right now.

I can’t review the 3d option just yet, but if that’s as good as what i hear, then i’m looking forward to it. The plan is to set it up with a 3d blu-ray player eventually, but i’m happy with what i got right now.

Others have written very good technical reviews which i used to make up my mind and i’m not technically competant enough to add to the technical niceities beyond a comment below on sound. For me this tv is absolutely stunning and fantastic value for money – i’ve seen the vt and there’s no difference in picture quality for the extra £500. My old tv was a samsung 40″ plasma that was hd ready, the picture on that was good but this is a quantum leap forward. Colours are brilliant and the depth of the black field is astounding. 3d is eminently watchable, although you really need 1. 4a hdmi cables to get the best out of it. My only criticism is sound quality which seems to be the sacrifice you pay as sets get thinner (and for a plasma this is thin). Why they just don’t do away with even attempting to put speakers in a tv and have the speakers in a seperate soundbar may be a question that manufacturers need to be asked; i’m thinking my next purchase is likely to be a soundbar. Its not that the sound is bad, its just not great. Otherwise this really is a fantastic tv and one i would wholeheartedly recommend.

I’l keep this short and sweet, this panasonic is a real treati almost didnt buy this due to issues with the fluctuating brightness and green blob, but not a hint of a problem on mine. Looks like panasonics updates have done the trick. The colours and contrast on bbc hd and blu ray is stunning, channel four and itv hd is still very good quality but they dont use as much bandwidth, hence the detail isnt quite there (freeview hd). My avatar 3d film is very good, alot like the pictures when i saw it,the only let down is the glasses act like sunglasses and make the picture very dark. Motion-no problemconnectivity-very goodsound-decenti was wanting to buy the 46 inch model but couldnt justify the extra £200,and the st models, altho cheaper, look pretty clunky/plain and the contrast isnt quite as goodi was after a led tv for a long time but when i actually compared them side by side the panasonics superior 3d,contrast,colours and motion overuled the led’s sharper and brighter (yet unrealistic) picture.

      1. I have no hesitation in awarding this television five stars and would highly recommend it to anyone who was in the market to purchase an excellent 46″ screened tv with all it’s bells and whistles. Freeview and freesat broadcasts are great whilst blu-ray is fantastic. I cannot speak for the internet connection or 3d at present, due to lack of equipment, but i have no doubt their perfomances will be just as impressive when i finally get round to using them.

    1. If this is your first plasma, please visit a showroom with sound proof room or a friend who owns this tv. I am not going to add anything about the picture quality other than what others have said. It is fantastic and 3d is really superb. But the fan noise is a big let down. I could hear the fan noise even 10-12 feet away. You will not hear it while watching movies. But, that is not what you are going to use this tv all the time. Once you notice the noise, your ears will be tuned to it all the time. I bought this from a high street seller, who came and inspected my tv. He said the fan noise is in the normal range.

    1. Like a lot of customers i spent an inordinate amount of time researching as i was so unhappy with my old sony v series lcd. The shortlist was: samsung and the 6530 range or this panasonic. Having never experienced proper tonal colours or inky blacks (the sony manages an oily dark grey, uneven) the reviews pushed me to plasma, but to be fair it is very difficult to set them apart. Personally i prefer the panasonic design. The old worry of screen burn was put to rest by what hi fi forums and there was a deal on that threw in a bluray player and two sets of 3d glasses, all delivered free. The 3d was, for me, a gimmick. That is until i watched harry potter on bluray 3d. The glasses, medium for me at 6′ and about the same wide are very comfortable and my goodness what an amazing home experience. Scaling from 2d to 3d of normal films and programmes really is a waste of time though. Even ‘running in’ the picture is so superior to the sony lcd i am annoyed i lived with the old set for 5 years. 80% of viewing so far has been via sky. Watching sherlock over christmas was a delight.

  40. The deal:i had this tv on my shortlist of 40/42″ panasonic & samsung led/plasma tvs, but at its usual amazon price it was out of reach until along came the lightning boxing day (or rather week) sales. This tv was what hifi’s best premium 42″ tv for 2011, and there are countless great reviews elsewhere on the internet. So i was very pleased when it was available for £599 and i was able to grab one in a somewhat hectic 15 minute scramble to checkout. Panasonic/amazon had a number of package deals on at the time: 75% off eligible panasonic 3d blu-ray players & 2 pairs of 3d active shutter glasses for free (usually £60+ each). With the lightning deal checkout timeout ticking away i added the panasonic dmp-bdt110eb 3d blu-ray disc player with skype & viera cast which came in at £23 after the discount, but didn’t realise i had to tick a box to get the 3d glasses. Fortunately amazon customer service were able to add them to the order for me (at the 2nd attempt via email after the phone assistant gave up after 40mins). Super saver delivery turned out to be next day delivery via city link, so you might get lucky toopanasonic also had a couple of freebies redeemable by post (star wars episodes iv-vi & avatar 3d on blu-ray) when buying the tv & blu-ray & 3d glasses package, making it even more of a bargain at £623 all in. The only downside is that panasonic’s 5 year free warranty promotion couldn’t be taken advantage of as it wasn’t purchased in a bricks’n’mortar store. Tv feedback:great sleek design with a silver trim and border around the screen (which is hard to see on panasonic’s photos) and narrow black frame around the tv screen (which fades to gunmetal grey around the panasonic logo on the middle bottom – it’s not just a reflection in the stock photo). I’ve uploaded some customer photos as some elements of the design are not very clear from the stock photos on the product page.

      1. I’m going to keep this review quite short because i cannot stop watching/playing/messing around with my fantastic tv. The picture is everything that you would expect and more. It does not disappoint in any way. The blacks are blackthe sound is fine, but if like me you have a 7. 1 surround sound powered though an av amp, then it will sound and look amazingthe ps3 looks stunning. Split screen is actually playablethe bad. When i turn on the tv it does not go straight to hdmi 1, and i cannot understand why not. It goes straight to tv input.

    1. Backgroundi bought a £2000 pioneer 1080i plasma in 2006, which i have been very happy with. I hadn’t been particularly desperate to have a 3d tv but what i did want was recording/pause and iplayer built into the tv. These features alone justified the upgrade from my pioneer. When i started thinking about 3d more i became more interested and having seen a few 3d films at the cinema and found out that some xbox 360 titles are now 3d, i decided that it was a must have feature if recently my friends have started telling me that it’s dated and that i need a new tv with 1080p, faster refresh, 3d, etc, so i started to do some research into what was available for how much money. I went to whathifi and saw that this panasonic was the 2011 award winner, discussed it with a friend who does research into things to the nth degree of detail and he assured me that this was a great tv. In fact he had wanted to get it in june of this year but at the time it was approx £1400. At £760 i would have bought it but by chance it was part of a lightning deal with £160 discount, so i got it for £600. It arrived within 2 days (i didn’t pay for that – thanks amazon). Setupsetup was easy aside from getting arc (audio return to the home theatre amp through hdmi). For some reason the toshiba 128gb hdd i plugged in to enable record/pause wasn’t compatible, so i had to order a new one but it’s quite old, so i can’t complain.
