Roberts Radio Blutune 50 DAB/DAB : Brilliant radio alarm clock, and I’m really fussy. (Update, it still is)

Great piece of kit, loverly sound. This is my second dab radio and again, in additon to dab radio i wanted to connect an ipod. The differnce here is that instead of a physical dock (which apple seems to like to change the shape of on a regular basis. ) you can connect using bluetooth – which also means my samsung phone is connectable as well – happy days. This pretty much works out of the box, plugged in and it sets the date/time and scans for available stations. All goodstation slection is via a turnable dial (very retro. You can select some presets as well (both fm and dab ) and that is easy to do as welli liked the ability to dim the front screen and there is a nice sleep function – so far all pretty standardbut the main advantage is the sound – its a big step better than my other dab radio and you can connect other speakers as well – so the combination of better sound and bluetooth connectivity makes this just what i was looking for – recommeded.

Excellent product but i would say it needed a bass adjustment as booms a little on hard surfaces. Excellent product but i would say it needed a bass adjustment as booms a little on hard surfaces.

I recently got a nice, smallish roberts dab clock-radio (with a lovely analogue face) and was pleased with it’s functionality, generally, but felt it was somewhat lacking in the sound department – the speaker was on the back, so reflected off the wall, and was generally tinny and weak on bass. Anyway, my mum commented that she needed a new clock radio and wanted to go dab, so i gave it to her and bought this beast. Make no mistake, this isn’t a teeny tiny little clock radio, it takes up half my bedside table. It’s not massive by any means, but easily twice the size of the previous one i had. Unboxing and set-up was a breeze – simply plug it in, unravel the little wire aerial, and it tunes itself in. Instantly i was hit by how much better the sound quality is – the bass is deep and vibrant, the mid and high ranges are punchy but without the tinny-ness of the previous model. The fact that the two stereo speakers are on the front makes a world of difference to the sound, and the. 1 subwoofer (all included in the same unit, in case you were worried that it might need to be stashed elsehwhere like a normal subwoofer would be) really delivers. Best of all, it excels as an alarm clock radio in all the same places that the previous roberts did too, which makes it very surprising that this isn’t being advertised as a clock radio.

Brilliant 😍, really love this product.

Brilliant radio alarm clock, and i’m really fussy. ************************still all good. An update to the below, i have lived with this around a year, i am still very pleased with it, it is faultless, never let me down, still easy to use. To answer one question the volume does go really low – on speech radio at least, if you want it to, to not disturb someone trying to sleep next to you while you listen. Also the brightness does go low enough to not disturb you sleeping. A minor thing that impressed me, if you turn it off or have a power cut, it recovers everything as it was quickly, to the correct time and remembers all the pre-sets and alarm settings. I tend to turn it off at the wall when i go away for a few days to keep the neighbours happy. Also i regularly use the usb port on the back to charge a phone or a kindle, very useful as there is no socket within yards of it. I have never noticed the phone interfere with it, but i don’t put the phone on top of it*************************got this after sending my revo axis x3 back in disgust.

Roberts Radio Blutune 50 White DAB/DAB+/FM/Bluetooth Sound System with 2.1 Speaker System : Fantastic sound very bassy if that’s a word. Very loud i love heavy metal and this copes fine dab is subject to where you live in terms of reception.

Bought mainly for the bluetooth which connects nicely to my tablet. As a radio musically it sounds lovely and rich. But for speech some may not like the bass which can make it sound boomy. It really needs a tone adjustment which it doesnt have. Ive blocked the bass speaker partially. Its very well made and easy to use.

Roberts: a very reliable radio. . Was on holiday in a rented cottage and in the corner of the living room was one of these radios, switched it on on day one and found it excellent company all week, missed it when i left the cottage, therefore, purchased one from amazon. Wouldn’t be without it, sound quality is first class and functions are very easy to use.

Great value product is exactly as described in the description.

Does everything you could want. . I imagine that roberts design team sat down and thought about all the things they could put into a radio, and what should be left out. And then thought, ‘nah, let’s just put everything in’. This is really a do-it-all radio. Want the new-fangled dab digital radio?. Prefer the old-school fm broadcasts?. Maybe bluetooth it to my laptop?. You can even charge up your mobile phone with it, and even bung a headphone in there. I really can’t think of anything else they could have put on. The design is sort of retro-modern, with nice tactile knobs, but slightly plasticky buttons.

It’s the model before this we’ve got and it’s a beast; pro-logic, touch sensitive, you virtually need an education to work it.

But i love its sound quality and looks stylish. Received yesterday so haven’t played with it much as yet. But i love its sound quality and looks stylish.

Expensive but very good, nice sound for the size.

Brilliant compact dab radio, easy to use. Base and sound quality is excellent.
      1. Good sound but poor controls – not easy to use in the dark. The sound is great but the controls are poor. The buttons on the top of the radio are just not well designed for everyday use. I challenge anyone to turn it on or off without having to look at the top of the device with the light on.

    1. Sounds great, easy to configure and dab sounds smooth and clear. It wakes you y slowly turning the volume up. Display has a dimmer function so you can set it’s brightness. My one and only criticism is that the 30 minute turn on timer function should have a raised surface. The amount of times i go to press it and turn the dimmer off annoys me. And, you can set it to 45, 60 or 90 minutes but it isn’t hard set so you have to choose how long you want it on for every time. Apart from that it is perfect.

    1. Nice box but poor sound due to no top end. All bass and low mid range boom. Other than the sound quality this worked fine. Nice to have a big time display. But i expect better from someone like this. If you’re going to give people such low clarity sound as standard you should offer adjustable eq settings.
