Great sounding basic micro system. Bought as a present, this was one of the few budget micro systems rated by which?. We were not disappointed, the unit looks very neat but most importantly it has good sound quality, clear and strong, easily able to cope with quite a large living room. It was very straightforward to set up and is easy to use. Pity no dab radio but that is only to be expected at this price,.
For the price its amazing what you are getting here. This has been placed in my teenage daughters bedroom and is linked to her tv for dvd playback. This is a real bonus in my opinion. Music works great via the bluetooth, sent from ipad/ipod and she is generally very happy with it. Sound quality is impressive and bass is good, often this can disappoint but not here. There is really nothing we can find in fault here, just a quality sounds system which has the bonus of dvd and many other excellent features. Great price and great quality you would expect from the namesake.
Good basic system, sound very good, difficult controls, otherwise all features work well. . Pretty good sound, everything works well except i would have preferred if the remote was not the only control. Also, the process of setting radio stations for quick search is rather complicated and not well explained. Here are the specifications for the Sony CMT-SBT40D 50W tooth Hi-Fi System:
- Enter your model number
to make sure this fits.
- Easy Bluetooth connectivity with NFC One-touch
- USB playback and smartphone charging
- Mega Bass adds low-end power
- Integrated FM radio tuner
Works fine and its small so doesn’t take to much space.
Amazing quality for such a tiny system. Amazing quality for such a tiny system. The sound is very good and deep. I’m not sure why this isn’t included in the description, but this system also plays dvds.Which is incredibly unusual and a bonus. One thing missing is dab but not a massive problem and i would still recommend this system for the price.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Hangs around while you press the buttons.
- Amazing quality for such a tiny system
- Good sounding Sony with a lot of versatility.
Excellent, bluetooth is brilliant. Excellent , bluetooth is brilliant, expensive compared to model without bluetooth , but is compact and does have everything you need in entertainment.
Really good so far touch wood. Recently purchased this cute compact mini hifi system, really good so far touch wood, sound excellent and fits nicely into space.
Well the cube shaped central unit is solid due to aluminium case. The same happens with the speakers that are made from wood. Two way speakers (woofer and twitter) plus a bass reflex hole in the rear panel. The sound is very good and clear with the classic function of mega bass and comes from a 50w apmlifier. There is also a preset equalizer that gives extra quality. I have listen so far no distortion, even when i put it on the maximum level. The overal looking is mat finish black for the wooden speakers and black and dark gray for the central unit with light blue for the panel indication.
A machine that does everything. I now understand why certain shops do not stock it.
Good all round system for the price. Good all round system for the price, great to have clock, sleep and wake up timer that is not usually find in nowadays system, dvd player is a bonus. It would be excellent if dab added.
Hangs around while you press the buttons. . Very disappointing offer from sony. It is sooo slow to do anything either via the buttons or the remote. Also similar model with dab is only £99 from argos (oct 2017).
Lost in transit then my replacement arrived and i love it great. First one got lost in transit then my replacement arrived and i love it great sound.
Like me, you have an earlier ipod. I had bought this with a view to kill multiple birds with 1 stone. Firstly, what made me settle on this model was that it is capable of dvd playback – after a bit of searching, i couldn’t find any others in this price range with dvd functionality. Another reason being the nfc/bluetooth connectivity. With a sony xperia z1 compact, and lots of tunes on my phone, it meant that i was able to pair the two devices and can now keep a library of songs in one place and play them through headphones on the walk to work each day, my car media system when driving, and now my home stereo too. Previously, i had used my phone for the first two but would use an ipod with a duplicated library of all my music sat in the dock of my (now somewhat out-dated) sony cmt-fx350i hi-fi. If you have one of the latest rip-off phones from the company with a fruit logo, it will nodoubt have a wireless capability to connect to the sbt40d. If, like me, you have an earlier ipod, be aware that there is no docking capability and although i have not tried it myself, others report that hooking up an ‘oldskool’ ipod via usb to this system does not work either. (another point on the usb is that it will not recognise the ntfs file format, it must be fat-32, which whilst not uncommon, it is not the factory standard format for most flash media devices, so if you are going to be using the usb functionality fairly often, have a quick check which format your memory stick is in before you load up 64gb of songs that won’t play)finally, i was hoping for an improvement on the really good, but not awesome tv speakers on a bravia kdl-42w705b; unfortunately, there seems to be no way of using the speakers of the sbt40d in conjunction with the tv, other than whilst utilising the av input for dvd playback. While this is great for watching dvd’s, and the speakers are excellent quality, i will still have to buy a soundbar and sub to improve on the tv speakers for every other input.
