Sony Bravia KD55XF8096 55-Inch Android 4K HDR Ultra HD TV – Rings all the bells

I didn’t think i would, as i never thought i’d own such a large screen. We’ve always been a bit sniffy about people with big screen tvs, but i’m a convert. We even had to rearrange the furniture to accommodate it, but it was worth all the effort. It’s just so coolokay, so why is it so cool?. Well, for a start it was so simple to set up. Tvs are never easy to set up, but this one was pretty simple straight out of the box and it comes with a handy link to netflix on the controller. Admittedly if you don’t have, or want netflix, this could be a pain, but we do and it’s just so useful. Not only that, but you can search for programmes etc via a very accurate voice command button on the controller, so if you can’t be bothered to go through the process of doing a controller search, then just hold the mic button in and ask the tv to search for you, easy. Also the screen definition and appearance is sumptuous.

Having bought a 50” sony android tv back in 2015 from amazon and being impressed with it the only tv i want to own now are the sony android t. This is a good upgrade for me having the 55” with 4k and hdr, the difference is remarkable. I use netflix and amazon prime and having the content now available in ultra hd and hdr is brilliant. I also use a ps4 pro but never had the advantages of using it with a 4k tv but i do now and it’s joyous. If you have never had a android tv i fully recommend you try one as once you have had one anything else is just not as much fun, well for me anyway.

Ok, so i own this tv less then a week but its obvious this is a top notch set. Fantastic picture in hd, never mind uhd. Ive seen bits of uhd content and it looks great. There are a lot of adjustments you can make to the picture to get it just right for you. I’m still tweaking away after a week. I cant really find anything to fault it apart from the power supply brick. No issue for me as i have the tv on a table top, but i can see that it could be a problem if you are wall mounting it. I have this paired with skyq and use a panasonic sound bar giving great audio. As this is a new model prices havent much negotiating room.

It’s a shame i will never be able to afford this but it certainly rings all bells with design and specs come on the lottery numbers fingers crossed.

Features of Sony Bravia KD55XF8096 55-Inch Android 4K HDR Ultra HD TV with Google Assistant, YouView and Freeview HD – Black (2018 Model)

  • Sony XF80 – Believe in true colour
  • Rediscover every detail in 4K
  • Life’s brilliance, revealed with extra colours
  • Designed to keep your focus on the picture

This is just a gorgeous tv, very easy to setup, literally packed with features (already put netflix 4k, amazon prime, disneylife and youtube on it), the picture is stunning (very saturated but i like it), it’s very quick, loads of connections, slim and just overall i can’t knock it all. I’ve even connected it to my alexa device to i can control it through that. Quite simply a stunning tv that i cannot criticise in anyway.

Best tv i have ever bought for the price.

The built quality of this tv is good, although there are times that i wonder if the picture resolution is as good as it is claimed to be. In addition the sound quality is barely adequate and adding the sound bar makes it marginally better. To give you an example i get a better sound from my iphone or macbook pro that are no comparison to this tv in sizethis tv is let down big time by the android operating system that is best described as chaotic making the navigation a nightmare with parts of programme feeling like a dead trap, hard to navigate and at times and hard to find a way out. There are 3 buttons on tv’s remote that supposed to get you back: “exit”, “back” and “tv” but in parts none could get you back out. The manual is over 300 pages but in 19 languages so all you get is 16 pages in english that deals with the basics and nothing about the whole operation. To learn or resolve the issues with the os / programme management you need to do online and ask your questions and good luck to you finding the answersmy biggest disappointments are in the following areas:- ) bluetooth the bluetooth on this tv is not a2dp compliant. I was unable to pair my bose headphone with the tv. This was confirmed by sony technician saying “it’s not designed to be used for audio” yet sony website lists sony headphone as compatible headphones. I know sony doing badly with their headphones but this is pushing it too far- ) tv channels broadcast / viewing: this tv has both youview and freeview. Youview is the default programme, it has a clean interface / listing and you can watch programmes up to a week old, provided you’re connected to the internet.

4K HDR – Immerse yourself in the brilliance of 4K HDR –

Unlike my samsung tvs this sony comes with an external ac adapter. It is extremely large and bulky which makes for additional headaches when organising the tv and cabling, especially when wall mounting.

This is a fabulous android television, it has been given pride of place on our wall. It is a slim design television so works well on the wall, using standard brackets but would look just as stunning supported on a stand. The colour is exceptional, vivid and just pops off the screen. It is easy to set up and go straight away. This is an android television so you can access loads of programs and apps from amazon movies and prime to netflix and more. It has voice features to help find your favourite apps or programs and connects to your android phone. A brilliant television packed full of features and well worth every penny.

Sharp picture with great black levels. Sound has improved greatly on previous sony models.

First of all unlike some of the reviews on here i really like the android tv layout, the features it brings, and don’t feel anyone should be out off by it. I purchased a 2015 bravia a couple years ago for a similar price and was extremely happy with the purchase. This prompted me to go sony the second time around. I did plenty of research before my second purchase and with the help of prime day i opted for this model. Albeit i purchased at just over £650, this tv is not worth £1000 or anywhere near this. The varying information online don’t clearly show this is is a 50hz or 400hz tv, just to clear up for people it’s 50hz and for that reason this tv really suffers for sport such as football. Motionflow does nothing to rectify. I’m streaming so i dread to see it’s performance in hd or even uhd. The tv also is very thick for a 2018 mid-range model (actually thicker than my older model made 3 years ago) and the stand is very flimsy. Overall in my opinion, not fit for purpose and most definitely not worth the retail price.

We love this television from sony. It came well packaged and was easily attached to the floor stand. The electrical flex is about 2 metres long so adequate for most people. We eventually decided to attach it to the wall and purchased a wall bracket which was all fairly easy to do. You can connect it to the internet via wifi and copy your google account onto the tv. This process took ages, if fact after an hour the screen still said copying google account and data and i got fed up with waiting for it and pressed back and it had in fact copied everything across,so why it said it was still copying i’ve no idea. It found services and channels fairly quickly and talks you through every step on screen which is just as well as there really isn’t a good instruction book with it although you can get all the instructions and anything else you might want to know online on the sony website. It was a really good clear picture and the sound is great, we only have it on volume 12 which is plenty loud enough without a sound bar. , although you can connect one if you wish. You can marry your phone or tablet to the tv so that you can continue watch youtube etc on the tv instead of the phone.

Superb, glad i bought it in the sale.

Sony CMT-SBT20B Hi-Fi System – Great stereo for the price

Great stereo for the price, with one or two little niggles stopping me handing out a fifth star. It’s easy to set up, but suffers from a lack of presets (only numbered 1-4 on the handset meaning an annoying fumble for the other saved stations) for the dab. It’s a looker – brushed chrome and gloss black glass, nice lcd. Bluetooth is a great addition and picks up my iphone every time without any hassle (it doesn’t require being re-connected after initial set up. ) the weirdest thing is it forgets which radio preset it was on when put on standby and always reverts to the first saved station (at least, i can’t find anything in the instructions that changes this. )sound quality is good, certainly not great; the unit lacks bass even with the settings ramped up, and it won’t rattle the windows but for a smaller room it’s fine (i’m using it in a kitchen). Final annoyance is the cd mechanism engages whenever it comes out of standby so you get that distinctive ‘crunch’ as it gears up, even if you want to just use bluetooth or radio. Other than those things, the price is good for what you get and i’d mostly recommend this.

Station presets still trying to fathom them out so again panasonic was so easy compared to this remote control. Speakers so flimsy so connected my panasonics from my previous audio/cd unit. Beware speaker leads have a weird connectors that fit into the audio unit so if you want to connect other speakers you have to cut the leads and solder them back.

I mainly bought it to play my cd’s on. The details on screen suggest it has a dab radio, it doesn’t, the radio is just fm.

Sony HT-ST9 7 – Excellent sound bar with a few niggles here and there

Used with a sonia bravia television. This sony sound bar is a smart looking piece of audio equipment but sizeable, measuring 113cm length x 13cm depth x 9cm height. It can be shelf or wall mounted. In addition there is a large subwoofer, itself measuring 42cm depth x 40cm height x 42cm width. I have placed the sound bar on a shelf of a tv cabinet beneath a 40” television which is not intrusive. If the television screen were smaller, i feel the size of the sound bar would be out of proportion. The subwoofer sits out of sight behind the tv stand. The sound bar front may be left to reveal the seven speakers or covered using the black grille provided. Instructions provided are in two parts comprising a clear startup guide and a more comprehensive booklet of operating instructions. The sound bar and subwoofer each require a mains connection but the two are connected wirelessly, thus doing away with a further cable connection.

Excellent sound bar with a few niggles here and there. Home cinema systems with the traditional set-up are a staple diet in a home cinema set-up. The trouble has been the amount of space that is required for an array of speakers, subwoofer and amplifier along with the wiring. The sound bar came out of a need to provide some of that home cinema experience but in a compact form. Some of the first attempts were to say at least pitiful but yamaha became the forerunner in sound bar technology. Roll on to 2015 and we are using improved set-ups and sound bar technology has moved on. There have been reports that the traditional av receiver is declining in popularity whilst sound bar sales are on the up. Some purists may argue that isn’t so and will probably slate off sound bars for not offering a true cinematic experience. So what’s so very special about the ht-st9 that could make you think about ditching the av receiver altogether?.Hopefully with this review you’ll get an inkling of what the ht-st9 is about and what it is capable of. Sony HT-CT390 300 W Sound Bar – Underwhelming but mostly functional

Lip sync issues only effects blutooth. I was gonna pass on buying this as several reviews mentioned lag/lip sync issues. When using wired connections (hdmi and optical) it’s perfectly fine. There are lag issues when using the bluetooth connection though. Audio wise it’s not too shabby. Bass is decent but no where near over powering.

Sony ht-ct390 sound bar + subwoofer. Being new to sound systems in general i wasn’t sure what to expect. We’ve always just turned up the telly in the pastthis kit from sony was easy enough to setup out of the (strangly shaped) box. The long soundbar is low profile and doesn’t look out of place sitting on the bottom shelf of under the tv, blueray and sky boxes and the subwoofer to the left of the tv. Once it was plugged in and working you can really tell the difference from the tv speakers. The sound quality is great to my ears. There is a depth of bass from the subwoofsound and the sound does fill our lounge. We have quickly adjusted to having it switched on permanently whenever the tv is on. You will need an hdmi cable (not included) to get setup and running for the first time.

Nice quality -and with night mode can lift dialogue further. For the price £180 (amazon deal). No lip sync issues (arc return used) – see my thoughts on this below. I bought it for my tv in the kitchen. Being a large noisy family room, the standard tv speakers were not up to it. Nice quality -and with night mode can lift dialogue further. Sub has nice balanced sound as well (don’t know what other posters are talking about orange light. Mine is green as per instructions). **please note earlier firmware on sony 4k android tvs did show lip sync issues on my other sound bar for the living room and on 7. • Slim design: Designed for style and substance offering a slim elegant profile to blend into any living environment
  • Simple connectivity: One easy HMDI connection to TV and instant wireless link to your smartphone with Bluetooth and NFC
  • Wireless music streaming over Bluetooth
  • Flexible setup with a compact wireless subwoofer

Very pleased first time l have used a sound bar find. Very pleased first time l have used a sound bar find it a lot better then the suroud sound systems that l have used in the past first class.

Once you set up the wireless sub woofer correctly you wont believe your ears glad i bought this no regrets.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Not bad, was expecting worse as it’s all plastic and wood gives a better sound, so I was surprised
  • I would recommend for anyone looking to upgrade poor TV speakers
  • Bit dissapointed

Simple set up, excellent sound quality but disappointed with volume. It’s louder than the tv but only just.

I wanted this sound bar for a while but waited until it went on sale, there wasnt many reviews online but with sony you expect quality and thats exactly what you get. The sub speaker really adds depth to what ever your watching and is easily hidden away.

Very good soundbar and sub woofer. Very good soundbar and sub woofer, albeit very large. We’ve been using a soundbar by a well known speaker brand with our samsung series 6 j6300 55-inch tv as i found the tvs inbuilt speakers quite harsh and it is currently about half the price of this sony soundbar, but was about two thirds of the price about 9 months ago. So the question for me is; is the sony twice as good?. But it is appreciably better in some ways. For a start, it’s much more powerful. This is good for us as we have a large living room and due to its shape we sit about 15 feet away from the tv and for me this is where the sony soundbar comes into its own, because i think the nearer you get to this speaker the worse the sound is. Up close the sound could be quite airy and thin and i have to say this is something i’ve noticed with a lot of modern speakers, the lack of a wooden cabinet seems to make them quite ‘tinny’ at low volumes. This at higher volumes it’s very good i think the size of this soundbar is an attempt to widen the soundstage as much as possible and i think it does work, from where i sit if i play music at a fairly high volume the soundstage is pretty impressive. Set up was very easy, virtually plug and play. I used the optical cable (provided) to connect to the tv and then waited whilst the soundbar connected wirelessly to the sub woofer and then connected both via bluetooth to my laptop and our kindle fires. I was able to listen to spotify within 10 minutes of opening the box. The sound quality is very good for a soundbar and the sub woofer does add some subtlety and range, although it’s obviously not as good as a dedicated hifi system, but then it’s not really meant to be. The sound from the tv is definitely superior to in inbuilt speakers, but this is where it’s not much of a step up from the cheaper soundbar.

Excellent soundbar, plays really with with our sony tv. We have sony’s kdl-50w805c 50-inch 3d 1080p tv, and i have to say we went on a bit of a journey with it – primarily because we had to send back two successive tvs back to amazon for dead pixels. But now we’re very happy with it, with one exception; the sound is relatively faint and weak. So i was really looking forward to seeing what this soundbar brought to it. First, setting it up literally could not be easier. I plugged it in, arranged it in front of the tv, and plugged it in to the hdmi port on the tv. Now i can imagine that this might be more of a chore with other tvs, but with ours the tv even recognized the soundbar, and switched the volume control on the tv remote to actually control the soundbar volume. The subwoofer connects automatically via bluetooth – again, great. Most importantly, on to the actual sound.

Once you set up the wireless sub woofer correctly you wont believe your ears glad i bought this no regrets.

Great sound really happy with this product.

Great sound provided you set it up right. Great sound and depth from subwoofer. Lot of people claim the subwoofer isn’t load, and that’s because they did not set it up correctly. If the lights green it won’t be loud enough read instructions to connect volume of bar with subwoofer, if you’ve done it right the subwoofer light will be orange not green. Make sure subwoofer volume is at max level which is 12. Hope this helps anyone who may need it. Also make sure you connect an hdmi cable with ethernet for max performance, i found older hdmi cable cause voice delay etc and ensure hdmi is plugged into your arc hdmi of your tv, if you don’t have arc hdmi you’ll have to settle for optical cable.

If you want to pay £80+then go for the updated model 4 watts per channel + bluetooth and maybe the power jack better designed, i. Right here goes, don’t buy this for over £40 got mine for £30 including postage. There has been a lot sent back for one reason and another. Yes the power lead needs a firm push in and never seems 100% all the way home, now apart from not having bluetooth and only 2 watts per channel speaker wise this is a steal at the lower price, if you want to pay £80+then go for the updated model 4 watts per channel + bluetooth and maybe the power jack better designed, it virtually looks the same with the problems ironed out @ £120 ish.

Nice radio good sound easy to set up. Nice radio good sound easy to set up.

Was very pleased with goods, great sound for a small product, just the job for the kitchen.

Apart from that a good sony. Found it a bit of problem to tune and set up, apart from that a good sony product.

Great kit for kids first sound system.

Sounds good etc, but,i have to remove and reinsert power lead each time i use it. So,it’s on standby,i press ‘operate’ button, and all you get is ‘waiting’,ie,nothing happens. Pull out and reinsert power cable, and it works, though you have to retune. It’s not exactly cheap and i really did expect better,a lot better, from sony,a brand i no longer trust. This was an intermittent problem which has now become the norm. Edit:it turns on if i use preset buttons,so upgrading from 2 to 4 stars.

Sony HT-MT300 Compact Soundbar – Great sound for a small system

I bought this to enhance my new 4k tv, i particularly liked the fact that the soundbar and subwoofer were so small. The set up was easy and build quality was good except for the supplied optical cable which was plasticky and stiff and wouldn’t sit in the cable management of the tv stand properly. The soundbar quality was really good to be honest i was quite impressed not a lot of sound separation but it is a compact unit so there has to be compromise, vocals very clear and i didn’t notice any time lag. However the subwoofer although small sounds absolutely rubbish, no volume and hardly any bass. The subwoofer wasn’t any match for my old 8 inch cheap active sub which only cost £50 from ‘richer sounds’ very disappointed, if i had listened to this in a shop i would not have bought it i was almost tempted to return the item. Well i have now had it a couple of months and with tweeking of settings and changing location of sub it’s better but not great, i also found using the optical lead i had to keep reaching for the remote so now wired in analogue i can control the volume with the tv remote with no loss of quality in the sound.

A sony soundbar which has served me well with great quality of sound. I have already previously owned a sony soundbar which has served me well with great quality of sound. But this new soundbar takes it to the next level. Easy to install you plug it in and then attach the wire to the tv though you can run it through blutooth. Once up and running it produces a wonderful sound with strong and deep base and clear sound. The different settings on the control means it is easy to change to suit you best and what you are watching including a handy setting to make dialog clearer. I have the base to the side but it resonates as though it could be anywhere in the room producing a solid surround sound style experience. For best effect if you can play with your television settings to get the optimal experience and set the soundbar as your main form of sound. Goes brilliantly with my 55′ sony television and will serve me well for many years ahead.

Typical sound quality of today. My question to anyone today is; why did we get such good bass on sound equipment in the 70s – and 40 years on, hardly any at all. Well, my problem with most, if not all sound equipment these days, is the gross lack of bass on any of them. Oh this does have bass to a point, but much treble is lost as always. But to be honest, bass started to go out of fashion towards the late seventies – and lord knows why; from about the 1980s, every time i came to replace what was then called a ‘music centre’, (however much i paid) i found it increasingly hard to get anything that even matched my previous one – let alone better. It’s the same with speakers; modern tvs have pathetic tiny little speakers in them – just a racket in order to get people purchasing independent sound systems, but that wouldn’t be so bad, but what you get is not a terribly good sound quality. This equipment is built nice and looks good, and like i say, does have a little bass, but the frustrating thing is, again, unlike anything from years ago, one cannot finely tune such things as bass or treble tone, which means there are just two or three complete ‘settings’ (or choices) of sound – but you cannot tune them to your taste. As for setting up; it wasn’t that easy; clumsy instructions, and the switches you needed to access and to keep an eye on were for some bizarre reason placed at the back of the sub-woofer??i had this for review, but if i’d paid the price asked for this, i would want more for my money – but would probably expect less. People often tell me you can go to very expensive outlets and pay say a thousand pounds to get the good quality sound systems that produce the kind of sound i refer to from times gone by– but why should you have to pay all that – you didn’t years ago, and i really don’t believe it would be that much better than something like this anyway, for the simple reason, i don’t think people today know what great sound quality is anymore – and you only have to look at the amount of people that have thumbed-down this review to see that. Here are the specifications for the Sony HT-MT300 Compact Soundbar:

  • The sound bar acts as a wireless speaker: instantly link it to your smartphone via Bluetooth and NFC to playback your favourite music from your device

I liked the fact it was a small soundbar with a slim sub. Nice and tidy to go with my 55′ bravia 2016 modelhowever. . I was highly disappointed when i found two massive flaws with the system1) you cannot use a sony tv remote to control the soundbar???.I have a bravia kd55xd8005 4k tv and the remote worked fine with an lg soundbar but the mt300 is not compatibleabsolutely ridiculous. 2) the bluetooth option will not work with my sony tv either so i have to resort to an optical cable. So two huge features that i needed and yes i should have done more with my homework but hey sony and sony i stupidly assumed they would be compatible apart from that it has a great sound. Please research compatibility if you are matching with a sony tv or you will be disappointed like me.

  • So well recommended.
  • Really like this as you can have the subwoofer anywhere because
  • Love this speaker system

Good sound & loud enough for an apartment. On first impressions, this is a well made product. The quality of the components & materials feels luxurious. All wires needed are provided with the unit. The actual sound bar is a good size, & doesn’t take much space. -set-up: very easy & straighforward. -sound: for the size, excellent. It’s not surround but it has made a huge improvement with the seemingly popular problem of sound with a lot of hd/smart tv’s. It’s not that loud but if you live in urban apartment, it’s more than enough. Sound effects:-clear audio>sony recommended sound field , automatically optimises according to context & function.

Great sound for a small system. I was given the sony ht-mt300 as a birthday present, and i love it. It is small at only 50cm wide and the sound for the size blows it away. I heard the bose system against this one and there really is no comparison. I have the subwoofer put under my sofa, and has put on sofa mode. To the people saying there is no base, try sofa mode. I have wanted a sound bar for some time, and have hummed and hayed for years as to what to go for.

Very impressed with the clarity and quality for such a small soundbar.

Easy to set up and the sound is good for your basic requirements at a reasonable decibel level . Its a neat set of speakers and look quite tidy.

Was looking for speaker to fit axactly under tv and this fitted the bill, with no space to spare. That aside i was looking for sony as i like the quality of sony products, the sub unfortunately did not fit under my sofa, but is slim enough to still look good while not encroaching on the room. Sound is very good when watching good quality content. Good and full bass when listening to music. Loud enough for the whole of my house.

Sony HT-CT290 300 W Soundbar – HT-CT290 300 W Soundbar with Bluetooth, HDMI and Wireless Subwoofer – Black

Great sounding with quick and easy setup. Review for sony ht-ct290setupsetup was pretty easy as i was replacing a previous sony sound bar and the optic cable was already attached to the tv. I tried the hdmi arc but had to keep changing it every time i turned on the tv, so went back to an optical connection. The sub-woofer had a power plug on it on this model, but this didn’t make anything awkward to install. Sound qualitythe sound quality is really good – even better than the previous sony bar we were using. The sound-stage is wider without being too stretched out. A decent amount of options from clear voice to surround. Selecting bluetooth and pairing a device was not a problem apart from the occasional disconnect for half a second but that’s at point blank range. This may have to do with the router and some access points being in close proximity. Stylingstyling is very nice.

I love good sound, my wife like things to look good. Fortunately this sound bar and sub-woofer fits both needs. The crème-white plastics are sufficiently neutral in tone and the sound bar is as small and discrete as these things go. The sub-woofer connecting by bluetooth reduces the cabling that can offend my wife’s view of décor. Good idea for domestic harmonyit goes without saying that the sound is hugely better than from our tv, whose thin design fatally compromises audio quality. The packaging is superb and set-up was easily achieved. After a while you kind of forget it’s there and you perceive the sound as coming from the right place, i. I didn’t find a need to fiddle with the settings but the choices are there for those who want to adjust things. I found it worked fine out of the box. It’s reasonably priced for this kind of device.

White goes with my wall shelf. Only downfall is my volume from both my sky remote and tv remote do not function other than the soundbar remote unless i have a sony tv too but i have lg. Here are the specifications for the Sony HT-CT290 300 W Soundbar:

Sony ht-ct290 300 w soundbar with bluetooth, hdmi and wireless subwoofer – black. I was asked if i’d like to review the sony ht-ct290 300 w soundbar with bluetooth, hdmi and wireless subwoofer – black and i said yes, as the surround sound i used to have for my tv had died on me and i’d been looking for a new one. The ht-ct290 comes in a reasonably bottom heavy l shaped box (11kg). A little awkward to carry and the box recommends two people to unpack though i managed it on my own. In the box you’ll find the sound bar, sub-woofer, remote, optical cable and manual. Batteries arealso included for the remote. The correct place to sit your sound bar is either directly in front of the tv, or in my case the shelf below as my tv’s base is quite large and there wasn’t room for it on the same shelf. I sat the sub on the floor by the right side of the tv. The ht ct290 is very easy to setup with a minimal of cables and fuss. I connected the sound bar to the dvd player and the sub is wirelessly connected by bluetooth.

Easy to set up, great sound quality and good functionality. This is a very stylish and highly functional sound bar, before i get into the features and the sound quality ill run through the set up. All that is required is to unbox the items place them how you want them to be set up, for me it was the sound bar free standing under the tv and the sub woofer to the right of the tv cabinet. There are points on the back of the sound bar to allow it to be fixed to the wall if your tv is wall mounted. After this you wither need to connect a hdmi cable (not supplied) to your tv hdmi arc (audio return channel) or via the optical audio output from you tv (optical cable is supplied). After this plug both the sub and bar in and the device will start up when activated on the remote. This took me 5 minutes to do the above. The sub and the sound bar do not require any wires between them and communicate through a wireless connection, my wireless router sits right next to the tv and i have had no interference from this connection between the bar and sub for my home network. My tv is a 40′ samsung and the sound bar fits perfectly underneath this and is the same length as the tv this was a added bonus for me as it sits nicely because of this. When powered on the front middle of the bar lights up and illuminates in a soft white light giving the text for what option is currently selectedthe sound quality is exactly what i expect from a sony device, it is excellent.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Excellent soundbar and sub woofer which provides a simpler alternative to full surround system.
  • Works well in smaller rooms but struggles in larger ones.
  • Works best with HDMI arc

Excellent soundbar and sub woofer which provides a simpler alternative to full surround system. . This is a well made piece of audio equipment. The performance of the bar and sub woofer produces a warm rounded sound with very well diferentiated sound scape. Although soundbar and sub woofer cannot match a full 5. 1 surround system for quality, this present product from sony comes close, and for those people who want the effect of a surround system without all the paraphernalia will be well satisfied. The soundbar with its blu tooth technology also works as an audio outlet for music from your phone and i found the result to be first rate. If there is a slight problem it is that the remote tends to switch on every bit of sony equipment in the room regardless.

Could do with a few more sound settings to make use of the possible quality sound available.

Its nice to have good quality. Its nice to have good quality. Look forward to more hours listening to my music.

But the optical cable slot is in a stupid place. I bought bought this cable (ibra muzil gold 1. 5m – digital optical cable | toslink / audio cable | fibre optic cable) i could not fit it in the slot beacuse the slot is in a stupid place. Does anyone know a good optical cable that will fit?.

Doesn’t look too bulky and out of place. The bass is excellent, for all those complaining – it totally relies on the quality of the sound source. Some programmes are very bass weak, but films, music and gaming really show off the strengths.

The device pairs easily with bluetooth devices (including the sub-woofer) and the remote. I live in a flat and bought this to complement my sony tv without taking up much space but found the sound quality disappointing. Soft and wooly sounding bass, boxy lower mid-range and thin upper mid-range sound with high frequencies tailing off quickly. Okay (just) for tv but not very acceptable for music. The device pairs easily with bluetooth devices (including the sub-woofer) and the remote works well even from a distance but i found the flashing notifiers on the small soundbar screen a bit confusing when changing functions etc from the remote. A row of different coloured led’s correlating to a coloured button on the remote would be less confusing plus would be more identifiable from a distance. My other bug is that the sound bar, when used with a table-top installation, obscures the main tv remote sensor so i now have to raise my arm and point the remote down to change channels etc (yes, my tv is a couple of years old now and has an infra-red remote). More modern tv’s with a wireless remote won’t be affected this way.

It’ll instantly give you the cinematic experience. After searching around i opted to purchase the sony ht-c290. I noted that pictures had the subwoofer at the front near the tv but after some basic experimentation i have decided to locate my sub behind the sofa. My god, crank this baby up and you’ll be able to feel the vibrations down the street. It’s a powerful piece of kit without having to splash out on a 5. The bluetooth sub is a nice touch and allows you to try different locations around the room before choosing the right one for you.

Quality sound for my tv and devices through bluetooth. . In the technical details much is made that hdmi arc (audio return channel) lets you connect to your tv with a single cable. My first issue with this is that only an optical cable is supplied and it is possible that if you have a spare hdmi cable it may not work as it requires a hdmi v1. 4 or later, high speed cable. I would expect at the price of this item that supplying the correct hdmi cable was the least you should expect. It is correct that once you have a cable the setup is easy but on the rear of the lg tv only one of the hdmi sockets was marked as arc and this was in use for my pvr meaning some juggling and reassigning the hdmi1 connection. You may need to go to the tv menu settings and enable external speakers if no sound is output. The subwoofer is connected wirelessly and with bluetooth this will add to the number of items in the house connected by wi-fi on the 2. 4 ghz band with my so called smart tv already reporting constantly ‘disconnecting’ or ‘connecting’ on wi fi. Using the remote control switching on the device gives only a short delay before sound is transferred to the soundbar from the tv.

Its just great, lovely sound easy to use no syncing issues.

Sony CMT-SBT20 Compact Hi-Fi System – Bought is for my son’s birthday and he loves it

Problem with missing tuner button.

Good price and sound, bluetooth a bonus. My only gripe is the speakers have plugs which seem unique to sony and unavailable in the known universe which makes it difficult to move speakers around.

Versatile mlni system with reasonable sound. I was going to buy this initially but got a panasonic system instead only because it was cheaper. Both are small, look attractive and versatile with cd play, radio and bluetooth. However the sound is small too. Ok for a small room and the quality is not really hi-fi, but for the price i have no complaints. Both sell for £80 plus but only £60 if you get a warehouse deal. Good sound but poor mp3 navigation via usb. . It has enough power and quality for any bedroom and minimum quality you expect from a. What i do not like is the terrible navigation of music and audio via usb.

Sony CMT-X5CDBW Hi-Fi/CD System 40W O/P – Design, user expirience, sound and quality are well

Just received this unit after highly praised recommendations. Sturdy build, and feels solid, not `plasticy` (although the case is obviously). Great sound, including wide stereo and eq. Setup is simple with comprehensive instructions. Bluetooth connection is simple, and although it says its optimised for apple stuff like iphone and tablets, its connects faultlessly to android devices as well, without problems,at least for me. Have successfully connected a hudl 1 via bluetooth using `spotify` music download system, and a andoid smartphone, and the reprduction is great. Music already on the hudl/smartphone also plays back without any `jitter`. Should be possible to connect my laptop to it too, trying that next. If you do the same, make sure your device is `discoverable` by all bluetooth enabled devices, otherwise the x5 will not link up at all. Its a bit pricey, but good value for money.

Poor dab ; good cd player ; remote slow. . Very impressed with the build quality. No dab reception despite my cheap dab radio picking up lots of stations from the same positions in my house. Does it need a retractable telescopic aerial like my cheap radio ?.Come on sony, i can’t believe you are selling this product. Cd sound was tremendous for such a small piece of kit. Worth buying for cd only if you can buy it cheaply enough but that is not on, is it sony ?i am a sony buff.

Good size for on the kitchen worksurface. . Plain looking (didn’t want anything too fancy / gimicky). Fm radio – goodusb port – goodcd player – gooddab radio – works at timesbluetooth – goodsimple to use. . Remote control has to be directed / aiming at the radio, or else it doesn’t work. The sony cmt-x5 is a wonderful audio device. The sony cmt-x5 is a wonderful audio device, ideal for listening to radio, cds or for playing music from your phone or ipod. You can play music from your phone, or any other music player, if you have a nfc compatible device or if you simply connect it with a 3. The sound quality is very clear, and the bass is pretty strong for a bluetooth speaker.

Great piece of home audio kit. Great piece of home audio kit. It is small enough to fit in almost any place, yet still loud enough to fill the whole house. Bluetooth connection is strong enough to be able to walk around the house with your phone and still have clear audio. Fm radio reception is also great. I had trouble with the dab reception initially, however i managed to fix the issue by extending the arial cable all the way and it works great now. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a compact hi-fi system, which is capable of producing loud and clear sound.

The good, the bad and the not very ugly. A solid, good quality item – at least as far as the sound quality of cd player is concerned. The dab radio, however, was hopeless – i tried several rooms in the house and failed to get more than half a dozen stations, but was not successful. My roberts dab radio works fine throughout. Amazon was excellent at replacing it (without the first one being returned), but the second one was no better and so i have obtained a refund. Other reviews have commented on the inadequate aerial wire being the culprit. I can’t recommend it for that reason.

We bought the cmt-x5 as we needed a speaker to plus phones etc in and we also had a stack of cds we wanted to play. This is a very sleek and stylish solution with a whole stack of functions. Build quality is excellent, very solid. I live in a dab free area but i knew this so not an issue. All other inputs play without fuss and the sound quality is exceptional, with deep bass and fine treble. It can also be loudi really love this device and don’t regret spending the money at all. It is going to get a lot of use.

Definitely a step-up from a radio alarm clock. Absolutely love this sony product. Definitely a major step-up from the radio alarm clock it replaced. Sound quality is crystal whether it is cd, fm, dab or bluetooth. Toggling the pre-set ‘sound’ to enhance the type of music you’re listening to. I did not have the dab/fm reception issues that other experienced. But i did make sure the dab antenna ‘clicked’ in properly as per installation instruction. Also being on the first floor (bedroom), the elevation may have aided with the reception. Songpal is a must, especially when you misplaced the remote. Nfc make connecting even easier.

Entertaining, versatile, and a little bit magic. This is one of a range of sony bluetooth speakers i looked at before making a choice – this seems to be the same (in sound quality specs) as the slightly more expensive x7 and i decided that i could live without airplay and wifi, so bought this one. Out of the box it’s very easy to set up and get your music playing. First up i put a couple of cd’s through their paces. Initially i thought that primal scream’s movin on up sounded a bit tinny to my ears, so i dug in to the songplay app and started fiddling around with the equaliser, which helped a lot – seemed to free everything up a bit. There is a bass repsponse, obviously nothing quite as booming as a system including a subwoofer, but instead more subtle and nuanced. I then listened to hans zimmer’s excellent interstellar soundtrack over bluetooth from my iphone. This soundtrack is particularly dynamic and enough to rattle the best speakers out there, but the sony cmt-x5 held it together with aplomb. The ambience is quite clever and the balance between the frequency range is rich, with impressive timing. Sony’s ‘clear audio+’ really does a great job here – there’s little to no distortion and plenty of room to breathe.

Volume could be better and satellite radio needs another ariel.

Sony all-in-one compact audio system with bluetooth/nfc – black. This is nice bit of kit with a few flaws that i’ve found so far. To be honest i’ve only really used this to listen to cds as radio doesn’t work well in the room i have it in (my fault not that of the device). I also have to say i’ve only had this for about one month so i have no idea about the longevity of the device. To my uncultured ears the sound is really good, nice and clear etc. It looks very nice sat on my kitchen work surface, very minimal and it only takes up a little bit of space. Down sides so far are that the nice shiny top with all the controls on and also the cd slot does tend to get dirt quickly as it’s the top of the device. I’m also worried that having the cd entry slot as merely a little slot in the top might mean that dust and dirt drops into it and i have no idea how to get it out once it has made its way inside. I also find that the remote is so tiny it gets easily lost amongst the normal surface detritus in my kitchen, that and the fact that sometimes when i try to get it to do things it completely ignores me is a little annoying. One final thing that i’ve discovered is that when you put a cd on shuffle it then shuffles the cd in exactly the same way each time you play it.

Entertaining, versatile, and a little bit magic.
