TCL 43DP608 43 Inch 4K UHD HDR 10 Smart TV – Decent try from a big ish brand but not good enough

Great price for a great product, really happy with it.

Great picturebit of research done before purchasestands up against household nameswon’t get a better 4k hdr10 at this pricehighly recommend.

The box it came is not much bigger than the tv itself but still packaged very securely. There is some small assembly required, the stand is actually two fixed legs on either side of the tv. It has taken us some time to get used to, we’re used to a central stand that swivels. It does look neat and tidy though. The power cable is on the short side, only 1m, so if it’s being placed away from a socket an extension is required. Almost plug and play, just follow the on screen prompts. The remote does have a slight lag so when setting up remember to wait a little especially when trying to put your wifi password in, i did get a bit frustrated at first. The picture is great we haven’t experienced any ghosting etc.

I’ve no complaints as to picture quality, although it’s always worth going through the settings if, like me, you don’t want superfluous visual “effects” switched on such as overscan and “shop/demo mode” (it’s frustrating how poorly documented the tv settings are). 3 hdmi connectors plus usb should be enough for most needs. Be aware that the only audio output socket is s/pdif so if you have a non digital amplifier you’ll need an adaptor (readily available from amazon). I’m not a fan of the fixed legs (at the left and right ends of the tv scren) stand, and would have preferred something with a much smaller base footprint that allowed me to swivel the tv. The responsiveness to the remote is rather slow.

Features of TCL 43DP608 43 Inch 4K UHD HDR 10 Smart TV with Freeview Play – Black (2018 Model) [Energy Class A]

Got this tv on an amazon deal for 280£ so thought it would be great value considering the brand has a good reputation in the us. Also the tv offers good features for this price tag. Unfortunately some aspects made it clear why it’s actually a cheap tv and bit a top brand one. Sadly the european versions are quite a bit different than the us models. Positives:good image quality despite the low price. Colours popped out and overall it looked the part on full hd and uhd quality (not tried a lot of hd or sd). Relatively good build quality and decent design. Felt decently solid but not perfect. Easy to set up and menus fairly easy to navigate. Gaming on xbox one s was ok with no lag or discernible ghosting.

No problems with the television so far, besides that it loads menu’s/everything rather slowly. On the other hand, you get great picture and a nice sized screen for very little money. Definitely recommended if you don’t mind it not being super fast.

I wasn’t expecting much from this. Probably i’m too much of an av snob. I like lg and samsung, and don’t usually steer away from those brands for tvs. Toshiba, another decent make has 43″ tvs at this price too. I thought this would be a typical ‘also ran’ brand. Box arrived and is quite small for a 43″. Though it was well packed with no marks. Very well protected with foam backed board and clear protective tape around the sides of the actual tv.

A 43″ 4k smart tv including freeview is quite impressive for this price. However, well-known branded names are producing similar for equivalent prices. The smart feature includes netflix, youtube and freeview play (freeview play provides 7 day catch up through your programme guide and on demand apps such as bbc iplayer, the itv hub, all 4, demand 5, uktv play through your existing tv aerial and home wifi connection. The picture quality is good as is the sound. Not a bad tv for it’s type but i think i’d be inclined to shop around more before buying.

This product is fine, but the tcl dp648 model has a couple of better features like better ppi, better peak brightness, a wide colour gamut and slimmer design.
