I’m a radio ham and wanted a unit that allowed me to monitor the air whilst away from the shack. This is a great radio and yes. It is let down by the internal antenna a little but you are never going to get dipole quality reception from an inbuilt antenna. Sound quality is fantastic – crystal clear. Operatin is straigh forward. Well, could have been useful to include a basic external antenna and also i’d like the 70cm band to be covered (it tops out at 137mhz).

Not as good as thought it would be. Not as good as thought it would be.

Tecsun S2000 Desktop Receiver with HF and VHF Airband : The radio is well constructed with a good ‘feel’ to all the controls and to my eyes. The tecsun s2000 works well on the internal antenna, across all bands and modes. . But the radio really comes alive in terms of reception when using an external antenna on shortwave. I also found the radio’s controls intuitive and simple to use. The radio is well constructed with a good ‘feel’ to all the controls and to my eyes it’s a good looking radio. My only criticisms are; that you cannot use an external antenna for the aircraft-band and the lack of coverage for the 2m ham-band. But at this price-point, that is not a deal-breaker for me. Overall, i would say that the tecsun s2000 is a good radio at a good price.

Good radio, but way overpriced. . Nice radio if it was 200 evros, but for 350, as i paid, it is not worth it. Rack handels on non rack mounted radio are just decoration and ‘i look profesional’ sale booster. Aluminium woobly knobs look fine, but if they are glued on plastic potenciometers they make no sense. Memory funcions and interface is arhaic and pain to use. However, as i said, sound quality is good, reception is good, batteries last forever,. Maybe i would try pl880, or something from competition.

Great radio does all i require of it.

I’m new to dxing and went straight to the alinco rx8. I returned this as it was a receiver not a radio. I get my enjoyment from listening to all wave bands. I also use a wellbrook loop antenna. This unit picked up stations the alinco couldn’t. Even on its internal aerial. The noise base of this unit is quite low. Lower than the alinco, in my opinion. For a first desktop radio/ receiver this is an excellent buy.
