Wharfedale Vista 100 SoundBar – Great sound and simple setup

Quick delivery and good price. Had to purchase optical lead to install to lg smart telly but worked straight away with older samsung model for which it was purchased.

The only way to connect to tv was through the. The only way to connect to tv was through the headphone socket – however it works perfectly and has greatly increased our listening pleasure. As said elsewhere it is much longer than expected and just fitted on lover tv table shelf. Cannot sit in front of tv as blocks the remote control.

The good: solidly built, loud, good selection of input options, rather nice ‘behind the grille’ display to confirm selected mode/volume etc. The not so good: goes very non-linear at low volume settings. For example with the optical feed from my pc only needed volume to be set to 3 or 4 and music reproduction was awful. Fixed by ‘throttling back’ the pc output so the soundbar could be set to volume 10 or 11. Also at low volume you can hear what i assume is the 3d audio processing switching in and out. Finally i’m finding the bass rather boomy, this is with the equaliser set flat. Hence overall good but not great. Here are the specifications for the Wharfedale Vista 100 SoundBar:

  • Soundbar

First class soundbar without a high cost. . Ideal for those wanting a simple, good sounding bar. Enhances sound well but not designed to blow you out of your chair. No sub-woofer so no extra boxes. Low height but needs to be offset for the likes of samsung tvs where the infra red receiver is on the underside of the screenblue tooth and auxiliary input for phone or mp3 player is a nice bonus.

Excellent product for this price.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • First class soundbar without a high cost.
  • Crisp clear sound, unbeatable at this price point
  • Rather large but OK

Great sound and simple setup. Great sound and simple setup, far exceeded expectations. Bass and clarity are surprisingly good. On the downside the remote frequencies clash with my tv box, lowering the volume fast forwards my film.

Nice unit for the price, clear sound.

Really pleased with the sound bar, i have used the optical input with my television and the bluetooth with my iphone and the sound quality from both devices is excellent. My only complaint is that it is a big unit, far bigger than i expected so check the dimensions prior to purchase. Otherwise you will not go wrong with this purchase.

For the price i couldn’t ask for more. And the best thing about it that it has 3d sound support + bluethooth.

Crisp clear sound, unbeatable at this price point. A fantastic soundbar, clear sound and beautifully designed. A huge step-up over my flatscreen tv’s speakers and comparable to my old 2. 1 system but at this price point that can’t be expected, plus fewer wiresafter a lot of research i tested this in store against two of the best award-winning soundbars at this price range. The philips htl5120 which, while fantastic, was £100 more expensive and the lg nb4530a which again was great but nearly twice the price. I am no audiophile but after listening to each i though the wharfedale had the crispest and clearest sound whilst watching tv and movies. It was not as loud or bassy as the other two but it suited my purpose better. Namely a compact soundbar for use in a flat for tv/movies/gaming with added bonus of bluetooth for music. How does it handle each?- tv/movies – dialogue is clearer and more defined. Music and theme tunes have additional layers of sound that previously went unnoticed. – gaming – dialogue again is picked out over the cacophony of sounds, footsteps the swish of a sword are all heard clearly, in a word ‘immersive’. – music – this was the real surprise, which maybe it shouldn’t have considering wharfedale’s long musical heritage, but the sound has eclipsed expectations, it has enough bass and volume for my needs without a separate woofer and is loud enough to get the neighbours round without breaking up. Works flawlessly with bluetooth (or a cable) and has become my defacto stereo in conjunction with spotify and itunes.

Was in the market for a decent soundbar to upgrade from the crappy sound from the tv. Very impressed with it overall, especially when playing music over bluetooth, the sound is excellent. But the only slight niggle i have is for tv where there is a slight high pitched hiss when people pronounce the ‘s’ (if that makes sense), and some deep voices certainly appear slightly too deep, but these are very minor niggles and would absolutely recommend it. Word of warning, this does not come with an optical cable so get one beforehand.

Nice sound bar shame about the cables. Nice sound but the connection cables supplied didn’t work so had to buy an optic cable to be able to use soundbar.

      1. Very pleased with the system, while it’s not quite the 3d as suggested it’s still for the price of very good sound bar.

Pleased initially but it went wrong after a few months. Tysons readily took it back and got it fixed by wharfedale’s service centre. It had lost all response to changes to bass and treble settings. It was away for nearly 4 weeks but worked ok when it came back. Now, after another 6 months or so it has a weird problem with the volume control and it’s going to have to go back again, i guess. Disappointing especially as when it works it’s pretty good for the money. But i’m starting to wish i had bought something else. No other bad reports on the internet, maybe i have been unlucky.

This is proving an excellent purchase. With just the ordinary speakers within the. Tv, i thought i was going deaf, but once i connected the wharfedale soundbar i found my hearing totally ok.

      1. Might look odd if your tv is 26 inches or less. Don’t know how loud it goes only have it on at 6 or 7. Two problems;- one it is so large that when placed in front of tv blocks access to tv remote sensor on tv. Had to stand up to change settings on tv. Two it shares some of the same infra red frequencies that my toshiba regza tv remote control uses. So if i change something on the tv it changes the sound input on the wharfedale vista. Solution buy a 3 metre rca cable and put wharfedale on floor.
