Yamaha Electronics Yamaha RXV483 Music Cast 5 Channel AV Receiver – Titanium : Great little Yamaha

This is a great piece of kit, super connectivity with blutooth, and networking as well as optical input. Download the app and you can play your spotify tracks on it as well as other apps, dab radio is via the app. It can push out a lot of sound, and handle films very well as well as music. The deep rumbling sounds of helicopters in films sounds brilliant but the dialogue is not drowned out either. I have it driving my polk speakers and the sound field is fantastic with great separation, and clarity. The dialogue is fixed to the screen with the sound effects going on nearby.

In short, working like a charm however remote control is a flop.

After a few weeks of tinkering with the plethora of options on this av receiver, i have to say, i am thoroughly impressedout of the box, it may seem daunting to the novice audiophile. However it quickly becomes apparent that setting it up is an absolute breeze. Everything is clearly labelled, all your hdmi devices and any other audio equipment are plugged in, and the hdmi out / speaker out connections are simple. Once everything is plugged in, the on-screen menu takes you through all the set-up options, including a handy little microphone that sets the audio levels on the centre, front l/r and rear l/r speakers automatically (and actually does a pretty good job too), based on your room acoustics. There are menu options for both novice, and experienced users; with the basic (auto) settings doing a great job of getting everything running without too much input, and the more in-depth settings providing complete control over every level, distance and depth over each speaker individually (all via the on-screen menus). The sound quality is excellent through some half-decent speakers (running denon speakers for the centre / rear surround and some floor-standing tannoy 611’s for the front l/r) and the amp is powerful enough to deliver some floor-shaking bass, while reproducing crisp, clean mid-high end sounds. Watching films is now a fully-immersive cinema experience.

This was an upgrade from my twenty year old pioneer amp. All i can say is that, yes it has good sound qualities, however the extra components, net radio, bluetooth, radio are brilliant. It does take a long time to fathom out what everything does, but this is now sorted thanks to a call to the yamaha tech dept. Little tip, if you have alexa as well, make sure that the bluetooth sending is off otherwise the lipsync to the tv will not worknot only does this amp produce a great sound, the app is also excellent to tweak certain items. As this plays through the tv, it actually improves the picture quality to near hd on every channel. Well worth the investment and hope it likewise will last a long time.

5.1 Surround Sound AV Receiver with Network

Handles 4k and did+ sound from the amazon fire stick perfectly.

For the money its a good value unit that is as good as some of the more expensive makes.

Having gone through two ‘all-in-one’ surround sound systems, i thought it was about time for a major upgrade. It was a close call between this and a similar pioneer product, but i settled on this and paired it with a set of yamaha nsp40 5. 1; because everything had to matchthe old systems obviously did a better job than using the tv speakers, but this blows them all out of the water. No more constantly messing around with volume to get the right sound; everything is crisp and clear at low and high volumes, i will have to apologize to the neighbors at some point about the higher volumes, but you have to test these things. It’s features are in incredible compared to what i’ve had previously; the wi-fi and bluetooth integrates it easily with my pc and phone, especially using the yamaha app. Too many connections to take full advantage of; things like musiccast, spotify, deezer etc. I’ve not even got around to trying but what i have used has all worked seamlessly; with the exception of the net radio not working for a few weeks, but a recent firmware update fixed that problem. There are some really expensive bit of kit out there, but for an enthusiastic media amateur; this is brilliant and affordable.

  1. Well it all looks well, the avr is very beutiful but when i tried to connect it to my streamer and my screen i got this massage. To watch tv i need to connect it directly to my dell 4k screen and connect the audio stight to the reciver. Its quite a hussle and unfortunatley no one talks about how hdcp could be a problem which deffect the watching expirience. If you want to hear music- you dont need avr. If youvwant ro enjoy great movies make sure you have new tv. Otherwise you got stuck with this massge. I would not recommend to buy it.
