Yamaha TSXB235D Micro Stereo System : Sounds to good to be just a clock radio.

After trying similar but cheaper items (around the £100 mark) and being bitterly disappointed, i decided that ‘ you get what you pay for’ is a good adage, and i was correct. £350 pounds seems a lot to pay for what is basically a radio alarm clock with added audio extras, but it is well worth the expense. The unit is well made and the sound quality is far better than i expected from such small speakers, great for music but perhaps a little bassy (is that a word?) for speech. Adjusting the tone helped when listening to speech based radio. The owners manual is a fine example of clarity and conciseness, not like some i could mention. Having said all that, it is not absolutely perfect. When the brightness of the front display is set to auto, it does not always respond to a large change in ambient light from bright to dark – such as turning out the light when going to bed. And the unit can be slow to respond to the remote at times. The little clip covers to protect the usb ports are a nice idea but are liable to be easily lost.

Good sound, and easy to set up. Good sound, and easy to set up, but i was disappointed that i had to set the clock manually. Also a bit annoying i can’t set it to always display the scrolling text for the dab radio. Otherwise, i’m pleased with it.

Sounds to good to be just a clock radio. . Easily fills a average room with sound. Music sounds full, even at low levels. Hard to believe it comes from such a small unit.

Brilliant alarm clock , and stereo. Expensive, but well worth the money.

Just love it and with dab+ can receive jazz fm. Radio listener’s guide gave five stars and they are so right.
